comic book and movie fans are mourning the man who created a lineup of super heroes. stan lee, died in los angeles today today at the age of 95. lee served as the head writer and the publisher of marvel comics. he is considered to be the architect of the contemporary comic book, disney is the parent company of marvel and abc 7. >> most of us are associated with rosie the rivoter, one of the last rosies is living here in the bay area. she sat down with us. >> reporter: in the parade -- >> mary's home is filled with memories of a different time.

glad you're here. it was --iment surprised it was a hellish weekend here in the state of california this weekend. we have three major wildfires, two of which are not far from us in hollywood. hundreds of homes have been burned. i don't know how many thousands of families were evacuated from their homes. but you guys are happy. that's okay. quite a few members of our staff were affected by the fires. some very seriously. i want to mention one of them. our coexecutive producer, erin. she and her daughter and husband. correct me if i had this wrong. they got a call from the sheriff saying get out. they came over to our house. i'm not making light of this. this actually happened. this was a terrible situation. they got no notice. you grab your daughter, charlie. what else did you get? passport? papers? that kind of stuff?

anything that seemed super important. erin's husband, david. this is what he grabbed from the house. his tom brady doll. david is a really big patriots fan. apparently that doll is one of the three most important items in his life. i had to take a picture because they are so happy together. look at them. anyway, the fire burned down a famous tv set. the bachelor mansion was partially destroyed. the guest house burned down, but the main house is okay. usually when something spreads like wildfire at the bachelor mansion, it's herpes. this was a switch. we offer our gratitude for the men and women who risk their

lives to fight these fires it. they did an incredible job and do it so bravely. if you want to help the victims, the best way is to donate to the american red cross. text ca wildfires to 90999 to make a $10 donation. they're always there for us. the american red cross. we shouldn't expect much help from the white house. as the fires raged, in the middle of all this the president weighed in with this touching message of support. there is no reason for these massive, deadly, and costly forest fires in california except that forest management is so poor. billions of given each year with so much lives lost because of gross mismanagement of the forests. remedy now or no fed payments. he didn't even give us paper towels. the federal government manages most of the land, not the state. he cut the funding.

california actually pays more money to the federal government than it gets back and of course, he does nothing about climate change, which is why these fires happen. why get tangled up in facts when you can shatake shots at peopleo voted for hillary. he went to see back draft and voted for back draft. about two hours later he tweeted our hearts are with those who are fighting the fires and the families of the 11 who have died in the destruction. god bless them all. that's better, but the next day, the real donald was back. with proper forest management, we can stop the devastation constantly going on in california. get smart. you go first and then we will. i understand that california probably isn't the president's favorite state, but he can pretend to care like he does

we didn't want to do that, but we wanted to bring something new to the party. the question that kept coming to us was, why are we behaving the way we are behaving when we have all this data from the scientists? we took that path and we started to kind of look under the hood of humanity and see what makes us tick. take the long view, which is not only forward, but back. why are we behaving this way? we gathered a bunch of wonderful scientists, philosophers, military guys, politicians all giving different perspectives. >> jimmy: did you figure it out some. >> not entirely. things that were really fascinating that i learned about, something called emergent behavior. you can see that in the schools of fish. they all move together.

flocks of birds. >> jimmy: and you have a pattern. >> why are they moving in that particular shape? >> jimmy: why are they? >> because they are a super organism. they formed a super owe nicr a good example is an ant hill for instance. an ant is in an ant hill, but you get a bunch of them and their behavior is an ant hill. our species is the same. you start out as bands of hunter gatherers and we get villages and cities and states and countries, kingdoms. now we have taken over the planet and kind of devouring our source. >> jimmy: what you concluded is it's in our dna as animals and there is nothing we can do about it? >> no. can i say the bm word?
