murder. those two jurors already dismissed highlighting the heavy burden on a jury in a trial expected to last four months. this morning, the intensely guarded trial of joaquin "el chapo" guzman off to a dramatic start before opening arguments even began. el chapo is accused of being involved in dozens of murders, smuggling more than 200 tons of cocaine and conducting billions of dollars in drug deals in the u.s. and around the world. el chapo's reputation for being ruthless has earned unprecedented security for the jury who will remain anonymous throughout the trial. a juror delivering a handwritten note to the judge explaining that the trial was causing her anxiety and other medical issues. the judge, fearing a breakdown of crying, removed her from the jury. u.s. marshals escorting them good morning, north bay. let's get up and get going. this is abc 7 mornings. to and from court every day for >> hi. good morning. their safety. i'm jessica castro from abc 7 mornings. and we're tracking a major crash outside, the largest security in the north bay. a u.p.s. truck hit a sedan that was sitting in the middle of

back now with that mother and son rescued after drifting out to sea on a giant inflatable swan. diane macedo has that story. >> reporter: it was the harrowing scene worthy of a double take. >> there is a woman on an inflatable swan. her and a child and they have drifted really, really far out into the water. >> reporter: a mother and son stuck two miles into the gulf of mexico on of all things an inflatable swan. tara myers says the waters appeared calm when she and her son got on the inflatable but she soon realized they had

before. the first lady called for the firing of deputy national security adviser mira ricardel. it's the position of the office of the first lady that she no longer deserves the honor of serving in this white house, the first lady's spokesperson said in a written statement. the statement came less than an hour after ricardel was seen smiling over the president's shoulder at a white house event. white house sources tell abc news the first lady became irritated with ricardel over the planning of her africa trip last month and that she felt ricardel treated her staff with disrespect. on that trip the first lady told abc's tom llamas there were people on the president's staff that she did not trust. >> he's been in office almost two years. has he had people that you didn't trust working for him? >> yes. >> did you let him know? >> i let him know. >>ome people, they don't work there anymore. >> reporter: despite the first lady's very public call for her
