dublin to mission boulevard, still looking good, in the green t mites. as we have been saying all morning, the bad area is lingering all across the bay area. one of the worst places to breathe in the air is livermore. >> drivers may want to be cautious because the smoke looks almost like fog. matt keller is live in livermore. matt? good morning, reggie and jessica. the smoke causing visibility issues all across the bay area. be extra careful when you hit the roads. >> when you come in 580 and come down the grid, the visibility has gone to a minimum now. i can't see very few ahead of you. it's gotten pretty bad. people notice a change in the air quality yesterday. definitely got worse in many places across the bay area. yesterday's calm conditions meant smoke settled into the valley, which made for the

the community of magalia where they cut off and flanked flames, saving several neighborhoods there. they are putting out spot-fires and helping save animals. and the lengths some people went to escape the flames. ss woman in a wheelchair. she doesn't have anything with her except her tiny little dog tuck indeed her arm. it's not clear where she was headed. she was taken to the hospital where she appeared to be okay. this morning investigators will be watching to see if pg&e stock continues to slide. yesterday shares dropped 22% after pg&e indicated it could be in financial distress if investigators say it's to blame for the campre with back-to-back years of catastrophic fire events, former commissioner catherine sandoval says action needs to be taken to provide reliable power and protect the public safety.

>> oh, that looks good on the board. mike, thanks. contract negotiations between teachers and the oakland unified school district are still at a standstill. teachers with the oakland education association plan to protest after school. they've met with school district officials for six mediation sessions the past several months and still have not settled on a contract. teachers are demanding higher wages, smaller class sizes and more school counselors and nurses. >> parents, teachers, and students are outraged at a proposal to close and consolidate several schools in the redwood city school district. they packed the fox theater where the school board held a meeting. it is facing a $10 million deficit the next three years. financial analyst suggest they close school with fewer than 400 students. >> the school district in the last six years has lost 2,000 students to three charter

>> the police department received a report from a local shipping company that some high-end merchandise that was destined for a union square retailer had been stolen. >> reporter: that's all police will say. but a source with knowledge of the theft tells us how it went down. the shipping company is u.p.s. the retailer thepa ceived a someone who said he was from the louis vuitton school. thief said stop temporarily because the the basement area come by and pick up the shipments. for three days they made the pickups here at u.p.s. and then disappeared with hundreds of thousands of dollars of conveniencive louis vuitton products. by the end of the week they asked why deliveries had stopped. u.p.s. said it was because of the flooding. but, in fact, the basement was dry. and the store knew nothing about the pickups. smith, who is now a security
