this morning on "world this morning on "world news now," the president is lashing out at a congressman and an admiral and he's promising a big shake-up within his cabinet. watch this incredible crash that was caught on camera. the teenage racecar driver going at speeds of more than 150 miles an hour, losing control, her car taking flight and slamming through a protective fence. how is she doing right now. and new this half hour, is the nfl ready for a female head coach? >> former secretary of state condoleezza rice and the cleveland browns are weighing in after reports that she was being considered for a top job. and what mariah carey just managed to accomplish for the first time without lifting a finger in 17 years.

>> reporter: president trump making it clear he alone is the one answering special counsel robert mueller's questions. >> your team is preparing written answers to questions about -- >> no, no, not my team, i'm preparing written answers. i'm the one that does the answering. >> reporter: those answers are now finished and he says will be submitted soon. the president also all but ruling out a sit-down interview. >> i think we've wasted enough time on this witch hunt, and the answer is probably we're finished. >> reporter: when it comes to acting attorney general matthew whitaker, the president saying he has free rein to limit the mueller probe. >> if whitaker decides in any way to limit or curtail the mueller investigation, are you okay with that? >> look, he -- it's going to be up to him. i think he's very well aware politically. i think he's astute politically and he's going to do what's right. >> reporter: in the past whitaker has been critical of the case and laid out how it could be stifled. >> i can see a scenario where jeff sessions is replaced with a recess appointment and that

attorney general doesn't fire bob mueller but he reduces the budget so low that his investigation grinds to almost a halt. >> reporter: democrat adam schiff claimed whitaker's temporary appointment should require a senate approval, calling it unconstitutional. >> the biggest flaw, from my point of view, is that he was chosen for the purpose of interfering with the mueller investigation. he auditioned for the part by going on tv and saying he could hobble the investigation. >> reporter: trump claims he was unaware of whitaker's position. he went on twitter to blast schiff by changing the spelling of his name to an expletive, also saying mueller was never confirmed by the senate, even though the special counsel doesn't require it. >> president trump said we should expect more shake-ups from his cabinet as he needs more flexibility. he specifically mentioned the department of homeland security kirstjen nielsen who he says needs to be tougher on the border. tara palmeri, abc news, the white house. florida republican rick scott will be trading his title of governor for senator in january. scott's victory will be

officially certified by florida election officials tomorrow. scott said nelson called him to concede after a second recount in the race showed scott with a lead of more than 10,000 votes. also in florida over the weekend, democrat andrew gillum conceded his race for governor against republican ron desantis. and reports from florida say embattled broward county election supervisor brenda snipes has resigned. snipes' 15-year term in that office was marked by a series of botched elections, recounts and lawsuits. on saturday, snipes admitted her office had lost more than 2,000 ballots during the recount. her resignation is expected to take effect in january. breaking overnight, there has been a sad update on the deadliest wildfire in california's history. officials confirmed another death at the so-called camp fire, bringing the total to 77. nearly 1,000 others are still listed as missing in the disaster that has consumed nearly 150,000 acres. here's abc's marcus moore.

>> reporter: more than a week after the deadly camp fire ravaged parts of northern california, the desperate search continues for those still missing. >> i would ask that people make every diligent effort to reach out to their friends and family and let them know they're okay and then also check with us and let us know that they're okay so we can devote our resources to locating people who haven't yet been accounted for. >> reporter: the president visiting the devastated areas saturday. >> we do have to do management, maintenance and we'll be working also with environmental groups. they've really -- i think everybody's seen the light. hopefully this is going to be the last of these. >> reporter: some still unhappy with the president's earlier criticism of california's forest management. >> the reality is we're always going to have wildfires in california. we need to take steps to reduce their frequency, reduce their severity, and, yes, forest management is one piece of it, but there are lots of other pieces. >> reporter: but california's governor jerry brown thanked the president.

>> i really appreciate the president himself being here and putting the focus and the spotlight on probably the worst tragedy that california has ever faced. >> reporter: thousands displaced near paradise, a town reduced to ashes. some evacuees taking refuge in this walmart parking lot but there are concerns about the sanitary conditions of these makeshift camps. >> we have people in tents sleeping on the ground and it's cold. they're trying to get people in shelters. unfortunately there are not enough shelters. >> reporter: crews in hazmat suits now searching for the bodies of the victims as the firefighters continue to battle the flames. marcus moore, abc news, chico, california. >> some much-needed rain is coming to california this week. that's good news for firefighters and the rain may also ease the air quality issues caused by the flames. a bitter blast of winter is coming east as the holiday travel rush gets under way. record cold temperatures are possible in the plains and the upper midwest. a messy mix of rain and snow could cause problems for travelers. abc news has confirmed the

name of the american woman who plunged to her death. the victim's brother has identified her as 52-year-old almarosa tenorio. the fbi is investigating the death as a possible murder and aruba media reporting that the fall on to a lifeboat followed a struggle with a man on board that ship. the vessel is now docked in florida and passengers are speaking out. >> it was a rude awakening at 4:00. they made the announcement right into our rooms. >> we only found out afterwards when we arrived in aruba that an accident had taken place. we couldn't get off the ship until the local authorities gave us permission. >> she was on the princess cruise with her husband, who is not considered a suspect. a gofundme page says she also lived with her son who is a student at the university of south alabama.

the los angeles county coroner is calling for an additional investigation into the death of model kim porter. the 47-year-old died suddenly last week after reportedly suffering from flulike symptoms. porter and sean diddy combs had a long relationship and shared three children. he spoke out about his former girlfriend on sunday, posting on instagram, "for the past three days i've been trying to wake out of this nightmare but i haven't. i don't know what i'm going to do without you baby." former new york city mayor michael bloomberg has set a record with the largest single donation ever to a u.s. college. he's giving $1.8 billion to his alma mater, john hopkins university. the money will help low and middle income students gain access to college. bloomberg says no qualified student should be kept out of college based on their family's bank account. well, "sunday night football" was a chilly one in chicago between the bears and the vikings. the game was close in the fourth quarter when minnesota quarterback kirk cousins had a pass intercepted and returned for a touchdown.

this is a terrifying moment a 17-year-old formula 3 driver went flying off the tracks during a race in macaw. sophia floersch survived despite slamming into a barrier at nearly 170 miles an hour. watch it again. her racing team says she suffered a spinal fracture. >> floersch apparently clipped another driver which sent her car vaulting into the air. race officials say she was conscious when she was taken from the track. >> and she even sent a tweet a short time later. it read, "just wanted to let everybody know that i'm fine but will be going into surgery tomorrow morning, meaning today, and thanks to everybody for supporting messages. update soon." i would not be tweeting. >> no. good for her that she's okay. de volcano of fire.

they are being told to evacuate. >> officials say activity inside the lava-filled mountain has increased in the past day and residents of eight communities are being advised to leave their homes. an eruption in june left 194 people dead. hundreds of others are still missing from that eruption. and for the first time we're hearing from survivors of a rafting trip that took a deadly turn last month. >> the group of friends from south florida traveled to costa rica for a bachelor party. their rafting trip followed heavy rain in the area and a flooding alert was posted but the group wasn't aware of it. four men who were with them died along with the river guide. luis beltran was the groom. he talked about losing his brother, who he saw trying to cling to a raft. >> i was like -- mark was held under for a good 20, 30 seconds. when i finally came up for air, i remember seeing my brother off to the distance and he was hanging on to a raft. and they were able to get him up, but as soon as they got him up, he was really, really out of breath and that raft ending up
