way. it's also going to bring an increase in clouds. we'll start off with smokey sunshine, upper 30s to low 50s at 7:00. low to mid-60s at noon. at 4:00 with the clouds coming in. by 7:00, we're in the mid to upper 50s and start thinking about rain by midnight. how is the commute? >> overall we're doing okay. we have one trouble spot in the east bay. sounds like two middle lanes blocked and they have updated the location for this crash on 880. initially calls that were north of there, around "a" street but sounds like north of state route 92. you are heavy state route 38. we have a quick check of drive times. in the yellow in westbound 580. now to the smoke causing unhealthy air quality in the bay area. here's an undate on what is and what isn't open today. >> cable cars will be up and

they're also dealing with the smoke. >> it's gone on long enough and i can't wait for the rain. i have a lot of people who are suffering asthma and all kinds of problems. >> reporter: sfo officials estimate 6.7 million travelers will pass through the airport from november 16th through january 1st. the smoke caused delays yesterday up to an hour at one point. it will be busy everywhere go. aaa says we'll see the highest thanksgiving travel volume since 2005 with 2.47 million traveling by plane. sfo recommends you arrive two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight. aaa says the best and cheapest time to fly all this week is going to be on thanksgiving day. reporting live at sfo, matt keller, abc7 news. >> thank you. we want to get an update to the camp firing burning in butte county. 79 people have been confirmed dead. >> and the number of missing has changed.

the sheriff's office says 64 victims have been tentatively identified. search crews continue combing the debris while fire crews get closer to containing the flames. the fire has burned 150,000 acres. it's 70% contained. it's expected to be fully contained by the end of the month. as i mentioned, the number of people considered missing is now improving, at still it's quite a long list. less than 700 names are on the list this morning. that's down from nearly 1,000 yesterday. one of the biggest questions we've all been asking is why that list continues to fluctuate so much. >> there are several factors including the fact that some people don't even know they've been reported missing. others are not able to reach their friends or family. the list may also contain some people's names who have been spelled in multiple ways. the butte county sheriff's office ask people to call one of these numbers on your screen if someone has been found. we also have these numbers on our website, abc7news.com. a new concern for fire

state route 92. you are backed up to state route 38. coming from castro valley i would stick to mission boulevard. seven miles an hour approaching the scene. southbound 680 through walnut creek definitely heavy. a newly elected san francisco supervisor is calling on a big organization to cancel its reservations with marriott due to the ongoing workers' strike. the examiner reports the california school board is holding its conference in san francisco next week. the association has some rooms booked at several marriott hotels. newly elected supervisor matt haney posted on facebook saying he asked the group to move the event. conference goers are fighting for the same rights as the striking marriott employees and itwould be unfair to make them cross picket lines to attend their meetings. google's expansion in the south bay, buying up more property as we get more details on the controversial mega-campus in san jose.

lot of mercy hospital yesterday afternoon. that's where the gunman shot and killed his former fiancee, emergency physician, dr. o'neill. the shooter then continued firing inside the hospital killing officer jimenez and first-year pharmacy resident. the shooter also died. it's not clear yet if an officer shot him or it was a self-inflicted wound. google is expanding its office space in sunnyvale. the mercury news reports they bought the chesapeake complex near moffett park and caribbean drives. it includes four buildi totaling 270,000 square feet. we're learning new details about applying for a mega campus in san jose. the city council is expected to vote on selling $110 million in property to google for a new development. after the vote scheduled on december 4th, there will be at least two more years of planning, design and review before the city gives its final

approval. doi protesters against the development are expected to rally at the city council meeting next month. new this morning, a little bear rescue in truckee after the hungry cub got stuck in a dumpster. mama bear and her baby were rummaging through a daumpster when the lid closed. someone saw her struggling and they called police. momma bear was waiting on the hill when officers arrived. they were able to free the cub and send them on their way. i admire these first responders that have to do that. >> didn't we just have one of those a month ago? >> we did. >> wow. >> especially if momma bear is waiting on the hill. >> right. >> what are you doing? >> i see you. >> yeah. >> thankfully that's all she did. we appreciate those people. first responders, it will be interesting do see what happens with the fires, the rain coming

mateo bridge. the east bay and the south bay, especially the valleys, kind of dry through the morning commute. you have the easiest. then look at that, after that through noon, you get the moderate to some possible heavy downpours through 4:00. that moves off to the east. we get a little break and another push of more scattered showers with moderate downpours and the chance of thunderstorms moves through during the evening hours. here's a look. we wake up in the morning, we'll have a few slick streets, especially in the north bay and close to the coast. by the afternoon hours, look at all that rain moving in. we could have upwards of three-quarters of rain in the south bay to 2 inches in the north bay by the time this winds down saturday morning. and then enjoy a very comfortable weekend. alexis? >> i have one new issue to talk about between fairfield and vacaville. sounds like five vehicles involved in a crash. two lanes blocked at westbound 80 before manual compos.

amy hollyfield live in san francisco with the update. >> reporter: the cable cars are back on the streets this morning. take a look at this video we just shot at 5:30 of the first cable car pulling onto the streets of san francisco, out of the barn. the first one since thursday afternoon when they were pulled because of bad air quality. the air has been unhealthy because of the smoke from the camp fire and that meant the closure of major tourists attractions. the cable cars were pulled off the streets. alcatraz will be closed today. tourists say it's been a huge letdown. >> got to be one of the premiere attractions for san francisco. this is the second time they canceled the tour on us. they canceled, refunded, bought again and canceled again today and we leve oiday. >> reporter: muir closed along with outdoor ice rinks. officials say they are doing it

bracing for the rain on the way. >> a flash flood watch goes into effect tomorrow in areas that have been charred by recent fires. of course, that includes t incl mendocino complex fires. while the rain is expected to help put out the camp fire in butte county, there are now other concerns. according to the sacramento bee, the heat from wildfires can make soil almost waterproof. that means the soil could wash away debris, ash and cause mudslides. >> the rain is bittersweet. the incoming storm could complicate the search for the remains of people who lost their lives in the flames. the search now involves hundreds of people. >> this is the largest search and rescue operation in california ever. we have over 500 search and rescue volun from all over california. that's just unprecedented. >> in fact, this morning the number of people listed as missing in the camp fire is going down. that's a bit of good news. still very high. at last check, just under 700 names are on the list.

your airline before you head here to sfo and check out that smoke. lingershi mornin matt keller, abc news. >> now all i want to do is go to hawaii. let's turn to this bizarre story in san francisco. a business owner wants to find out who is lighting toilet paper in his store. surveillance cameras captured the whole thing at mid-city market sunday morning. you can see the man unwrap a roll of toilet paper. he lights the end of it and that sets a bunch of other toilet paper rolls on fire. by the time employees realized what was happening, the man was gone. the store owner says, this caused $20,000 in damage. >> i opened the cameras to see the store and i saw the flame inside the store. my heart dropped. people are crazy, i guess, out there. i don't know what's wrong with these people. >> thankfully employees were able to put out the for before it reached bottles of lighter fluid and fire logs on the bottom shelf.

police are investigating. more than a dozen democrats say they want someone other than nancy pelosi to be speaker of the house. house members will pick new leaders in january. 16 democrats have released a letter saying they'll vote for new leadership. the battle for the speaker's job is shaping up between the party's liberal members and the group of moderate lawmakers. a spokesman for pelosi says she remains confident in her support among other house members. now to your morning money report. thousands of general motors employees could be laid off in the new year. >> according to "usa today," gm wanted 7,000 white-collar workers to accept a buyout but only 4,000 accepted the deal. that means as many as 3,000 jobs could be cut starting in january. if tech is on your holiday shopping lists, apple will have deals for you this weekend. the company released a video yesterday that teases a four-day shopping event that starts, of course, on black friday. the site doesn't actually show
