family to share time together and a thanksgiving meal. this is a uniquely american holiday, a special day where we have an opportunity to take stock of our individual blessings and our collective good fortune to live here in the bay area and in this country. we enjoy freedom and opportunity and abundance that countless millions around the world can hardly conceive. we are mindful that even in this land of plenty so many of us struggle in financial hardship or ill health. for thousands of our fellow californians to the north and the south this thanksgiving will happen without a home so many lost in the wildfires. even more heartbreaking for dozens this holiday will take place without loved ones lost in the same. as we share a meal with those we care about tomorrow, what really matters is an attitude of gratitude to remember that no matter our struggles, many others always have it worse.
