anywhere from a third of an inches to an inches in parts of the south bay in the past 24 hours. here is suit re, pretty picture with 54 in santa reese. 54 minute delays at sfo. you can see still damp on the tar mack. temperatures in the low 60s, partly cloudy today. we'll enjoy several days of dry conditions with sunshine before the rain returns in earnest. details in a few minutes. >> thanks, lisa. it should be easier to get to lake tahoe today. look at this. a snowy mess on the roads yesterday. plenty of vehicles backed up near truckee on interstate 80. at one point traffic was stopped because of chinouts. right now no chain controls on 80 or 50. all the know has been mostly good for tahoe ski resorts but sugar bowl is delaying opening amp the rain that followed the snow. they will open as soon as conditions permit. they are hoping for help from mother nature in the next round

of storms next woke. as always stay on top of the weather with the ach. you'll find live doppler 7 and live webcams from across the bay area. knewent overnight a two alarm fire breaks out at a home in vallejo. starting a fair month and fleming avenue. the fire department manage to keep it from spreading. thankfully no one was hurt. a golden gate ferry that crashed not once but twice into the san francisco ferry building could be removed this morning. passengers onboard at a restaurant on the water say they had no warning and now the coast guard is investigating. our reporter katie utehs has more. >> the captain -- there was nothing over the intercromme. you would think they would honked a horn to give us a heads up. >> passengers on fowleden gate ferry ms san francisco say they had no warning of the impending

crash. >> we were talking about how we were going way too fast. immediately after he talked about it we smashed into the first filen and we deflected into the port. >> people eating at the san francisco ferry building saw the coming their way at 2:30. >> i did yell to my table, oh, my gosh here comes a boat. he is coming in hot. >> it was definitely very hectic quite a bit of yelling and stuff going onboard. >> some took out cameras others bolted. >> then i thought it was going straight into the restaurant so i started running the opposite direction. >> the impact cracked the concrete, knocked over the railing and shook the slanted door restaurant. >> the handrail looks like a simple piece of metal. it's actually a deceptively strong safe guard to make sure that if anything like in were to happen there would be no further damage to people on land. >> the captain said it was technical failure. >> the coast guard is looking into computer systems to determine how fast the boat was traveling and if the captain was in control.

all five crew members will be drug tested and interviewed. >> the vestals are inspected freld frequently the u.s. coast guard there is a lot of oversight. >> this is a larger vessel in the fleet that can carry some 750 passengers but in a light load of 53 people at the time of the crash. two people reported injuries but were treated on the boat. they're going to be okay. ferry service went on as normal and will continue as scheduled, just without this boat. in san francisco, katie utehs, abc 7 news. only abc 7 was on scene just after steph curry was involved in a multi-car crash yesterday morning, likely caused by wet roads. the golden state star is okay. everyone involved was wearing a seat belt. and there are no injuries to report. abc 7 news reporter anser hassan has the details. >> reporter: warrior star stephen curry waited on highway 24 after his porsche was hit by

two cars. >> it was a major accident, a movie orring. >> donisha allen and her friend were the first on scene. they rushed to help making sure no one was injured. >> we ran out to see if everybody was okay. it was so wet the guy in the gray car spined off and hit curry. >> chp says the driver of the silver lexus loft control coming out of the tunnel. he spun several times before crashing into curry. the wet roads, the likely cause. >> coming through the tunnel and as you know we seen the two cars spun out. it was crazy. >> after being hit, curry's porsche was then rear ended by another car. stephen curry's father dell arrived shortly there after to pick up his son. after giving statements to chp the drivers were allowed to go. some warriors fans concerned for the curry family but were happy he could walka away. >> we always root for curry, always watch all the games we wanted to make sure he was okay.

weekend working through the devastation to look for victims. abc 7 news reporter jobina fortson is in paradise with the major rode block officials face. >> it's busting inside the family resource center. camp fire are camp fire victims getting the help they need but at the booth that should be the busiest there is no one. >> there are people out there who have loved ones among the dead at the morgue that we have not been able to identify. >> jim davis is with the company using. rapid dna to identify people killed in the camp fire. he should be taking mouth swabs of family members but things are slow. >> the only way we can identify those people is to have family members submit reference samples so that we can match the two. >> the identification process starts back in the place that's now unrecognizable. at this moment it's with the crew out of santa barbara, picking apart debris in pair dis, looking for remains. the elements are complicating things. but when they find something, dna is processed, placed on a

swab and run through a machine. davis's company gave us this video and says, the results arrive within two hours. >> since we have collected samples from people, you know, we see this kind of emotion that comes with finally, you know, accepting the possibility that their loved ones are gone. >> if you are related to someone missing in the california camp fire. >> a psa was just released hoping to prompt better turnouts. yesterday they 68 family donors and need hundreds more to compare dna. maria wishes she could do it for her friend who lived in paradise. >> nobody has heard of him but we have no names of relatives or nothing. >> if anyone is out there, family dna swabs can be taken at any police station in the u.s. >> if you or someone you know would like more information on the dna collection process we have the resource site available on our website that is abc 7 news.com. for now reports in paradise.

jobina the fortson abc 7. the time is 8:08. the u.s. coast guard is searching for a 28-year-old man who disappeared swimming with his brother off the coast of dal city. the police and firefighters responded to a call of a man stuck in the surf around 3:00 yesterday afternoon. he was not visible in the water by the time they arrived. his brother is okay. new details now about the roam main lettuce blame for ee come i outbreak. the monterey county commissioner says it's likely the tainted produce came from that the county. the cdc is telling people not to eat it. at least 32 people have gotten sick and here in california. the fda says lettuce from arizona and florida should enter the supply chain soon. lisa argen has been tracking the accuweather forecast for us. clear skies hopefully later this afternoon. >> we're g going to wait a little longer in the south bay and central coast.

tradition is helping victims of the camp fire. the annual tree triting at christmas in the park hoefted spernl guests. a family from paradise who needed a little bit of hope during a very dark time. abc 7 news reporter amanda del castillo is in san jose with their story. >> for the smith family, happy holidays is the hope. mike and kitty spent the past 20 years in paradise, raising children, grand children within and celebrating the special times together. >> thanksgiving, christmas, just three days before the fire we were having a halloween party. and celebrating a new home we moved np and three days later we are running for our lives.

>> lives already change months before. mrs. smith explained tragedy first struck in february. when their daughter crystal and her fiance john were killed by an alleged drunk driver. then, the camp fire wiped out four family homes. >> wove been real devastated. but we're holding it together. >> a family friend in christmas in the park board member posted about the smiths. coordinators knew something needed to be done. >> really what this became was our opportunity as judge smeltzer in the park to do what we are supposed to do which is helping the community. >> all money raised goes to victims through caring choice, northern california's emergency volunteer center. >> it goes beyond the smith family of course. but these guys have been through so much this year. >> the smiths were invited to flip the switch during friday's tree lighting. at least one happy memory this holiday season. >> from one minute to the next we cry from the loss and the grief. and this gives us something to look forward to.

>> thanks for waking up withes. i'm chris nice. . we start this half hour with a quick look at the forecast. here is lisa argen tracking the conditions where you live. hi, lisa. good morning to you. starting out with a lot of clouds around. in fact fog at the golden gate bridge is dense. a few leftover showers in the south bay along the central coast. but the mist and drizzle will be ending. as we look at walnut creek, that's kind of pretty with partly cloudy skies, mid-50s in san francisco. 59 with more clouds in san jose and a look at lake tahoe. it's raining in blue canyon, 43 degrees. 40 at the tahoe valley airport. wet snow there with mid-50s back in santa rosa. low visibility there. and looking at the visibility just down to a quarter of a mile, half moon bay. and santa rosa as i said nothing there. five miles in hayward. and san jose, a lot of clouds with four mile visibility. naps sutro. isn't that gorgeous? for the next several hours the clouds continue to gradually clear.

first in the north bay then along on the east by and central bay. lastly the south bay. overall we call it partly cloudy. upper 50s on the coast. tonight the fog is back not as cold but dense in spots. and we talk about the second half of the weekend, which is trending much brighter coming up in a few minutes. chris. >> sounds good, lisa, thanks. we have to wait until monday for details about an officer-involved shooting in san jose. it all started yesterday morning at around 10:00 when officers were called to a home by a woman saying a man had a gun on wasn't letting her inside. the man fired at officers when they got there. officers fired back. but he barricaded himself inside prompting a nearly 10.5 hour standoff. officers were finally able to take the man into custody just before 8:30 last night. he had tlaeft one gunshot wound and is expected to be okay. it's unclear if that wound is from an officer's shot. the police chief will provide an update on monday. now to a new report upon

and we're holding onto some of the cloud cover and even a little bit of mist out there. so enjoying some sun in the north bay. the fog is clearing along the coast. and here are the returns from mount hamilton. certainly a little misty here. reed hill have you reported a shower last hour while the san jose airport is looking good. and the visibility -- it's reduced in the north bay and at half moon bay two mile visibility looking better in the east bay. but it's going to take a while to clear out. high pressure is building in temporarily. you can see the storm track pushed north. due to the ridge. the next several days. the clouds filling in and the lower efrlgss here, the valley sticking around around the next few hours until the warmth from the sun evaporates the low clouds. 58 in elbowed. 59 in san jose. upper 50s in morgan hill and half moon bay. and the east bay right now where certainly it's looking a little bit brighter in terms of the sky

cover. actually the south bay here 56 in napa. 57 in vacaville. livermore is 58. the winds breezy in the upper elevations. 23 to 27 miles an hour from tount tam to diablo. and this too will begin to dial back. and you can see the sun coming out here from the golden gate bridge. certainly damp pavement and visibility reduced at times heading north. fog, mist and drizzle for some. partly cloudy elsewhere. and that's the trend, the gradual cloerg throughout the day. rain returns into the week ahead, that's tuesday. giving us three dry days potentially throe wet day he is with the latter part of the week looking significantly wet. i'll stop this at 9:00 this morning. you can see where the grown is here, parts of the south bay. ben lomond, the higher elevations. then it disappears and more drying in the south bay. 6:00, though, some fog reforms through the overnight, keeping us somewhat more mild than we would be with the clear sky. then the sun is back for

tomorrow afternoon on sunday. highs today in the narrow range, 59 coastside. partly cloudy. 62 in concord and san jose. fremont checking in the a 60. we pick up the forecast animation up. by the afternoon this falls apart and moves out. 5:00 wednesday morning looks like we might be able to get the commute in here dry on wednesday. but boy, wednesday afternoon into thursday, looking particularly soggy and in fact the next system, the second one will be a cold one. so we look for sierra snow. rainfall potential with the first system on wednesday will be light. one to two tenths. but as we go through thursday in really picks up with overof an inch in the north bay. the accuweather seven-day forecast, a little drizzle, then sun. sunnier slightly milder tomorrow. and then monday we are still dry. you download the accuweather app, the impact scale is with us tuesday, wednesday and thursday. looking light to start and then
