this is abc 7 news. >> good morning. thanks so much for joining us on this sunday, november 25t i'm chris nguyen. lisa, a break from the rain. >> that's right, chris. we had sun yesterday of the turned out to be a pretty nice day and right now live doppler 7 detecting the clouds. in fact, we'll get more of this patchy fog. visibility a quarter of a mile, petaluma, napa and santa rosa, three quarters of a mile, six miles in concord. temperatures look like this, upper 40s to the low 40s. 49 in concord.

we're looking at much cooler temperatures. the atmosphere drying out day by day ten to 12 degrees cooler at the coast than we were yesterday of the a lot of 40s out there. 60s by noon time. high clouds throughout the afternoon. temperatures may be a couple degrees warmer than we were yesterday and we're looking at another dry day tomorrow before the rain arrives mid-week. chris? >> lisa, thanks. we'll start this morning with developing news. san francisco 49ers linebacker reuben foster was arrested last night at the team hotel on domestic violence charges. the 24-year-old was taken into custody at the grand hyatt hotel and was booked in the hills borough county jail. they said he's accused of slapping a woman's phone off of her hand, pushing her in the chest area and slapping the victim in the house with an open hand. they saw a one inch scratch on the accuser's left collar bone. he's been held without bail. this is video from his previous

court appearances. a judge dropped domestic violence charges after foster's ex-girlfriend recanted allegations made against him. the niners have said before, the team has a zero-tolerance policy on domestic violence. they play buccaneers at 10:00 a.m. today obviously without foster. he's expected to be arraigned this morning. we'll be monitoring developments from tampa, florida. noto an update on steph curry. he was involved in a car accident on highway 24. he appeared to be fine but if you've ever been in a crash before, you know injuries can pop up the next day. curry went through a workout yesterday and appears to be okay. >> he is doing fine today. he went and played a little scrimmage today in the facility, didn't report any ancillary stuff from yesterday and felt pretty good after he got off the floor, so its all good, good

stuff. >> the guard is also recovering from a groin injury and the team expects him back in the line-up potentially on its upcoming road trip. the holiday weekend has been dangerous and deadly on bay area roads. rain slicked pavements have contributed to a number of accidents including one that sent an officer to the hospital in the north bay. cornell bernard with advice for drivers coming from the chp. >> reporter: the patrol unit sits undrivable and heavily damage. its back window smashed after officers responded to a spinout involving the suv. >> it was foggy, drizzly. the roads were wet. >> reporter: the chp says officers were laying cones and flares when the drivers of a toyota lost control of her car and headed right for one of the officers. >> we are very fortunate that that officer was able to see the car coming and react quick enough. he jumped into the back of the patrol vehicle less than a

second before the vehicle collided with them. >> reporter: the officer suffered minor injuries. sadly the driver of the ca rolela did not survive the cash. she died later at a hospital. in the south bay, a man died and three others injured in a suspected drunk driving crash early saturday morning. the driver who survived missed a curb, struck a tree and rolled over. >> losing control, spinning out. >> reporter: we rode along with chp officer he said speed will be the biggest hazard this rainy seasons. >> drivers slow down and drive appropriately for the conditions, we would -- we would not see nearly the amount of crashes that we see. >> reporter: drive carefully and of course wear your seat belt. the name of the victim has not been released. the chp officer who was injured has been released from the hospital. in sausalito, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. work to repair the damage

docks at the san francisco ferry building after friday's ferry boat crash should be done sometime today but with one of golden gate's largest ferries damaged and out of service there could be long-term service impacts. >> reporter: crews cut and cleared the mangled metal and concrete at gate b. the cause of the damage? >> oh, my god! >> reporter: you can hear and see in this witness video. golden gate ferries slamming into the dock near the slanted door restaurant friday afternoon. but on a sunny saturday, the crash did not phase passengers. >> it definitely does not stop me from wanting to ride the ferry. >> reporter: port of san francisco workers inspected the structural integrity of the dock. the agency expects repairs to be complete by sunday. in the meantime, ferries are docking at different berths.

passengers taking it in stride. >> when i got off here they said to make sure you get back on here. >> reporter: the damaged ferry was towed back to larksburg and the u.s. coast guard is investigating the crash. passengers tell abc 7 news the ferry first hit the dock of the golden gate ferry terminal then crashed near gate b all without warning. of the 53 passengers on board, two reported minor injuries. >> i don't have any problem with it. this incident that happened its just a rare occurrence. i don't know the full details, but with the many decades that the service has been running, i think this is the first time i've heard of any problems. >> reporter: golden gate ferry has seven vessels in its fleet. its unclear how long it will take to repair the ms san francisco so with one boat down, it could impact ferry service come monday. in san francisco, katie udes, abc 7 news. the number of dead in the camp fire has gone up again and

is now at 87 people. the fire is also the most destructive on record burning nearly 14,000 homes, 475 people are unaccounted for. firefighters are making progress. containment has gone up to 98%. evacuation orders are being lifted allowing people to return to their neighborhoods to see if their home survived the inferno. some kids affected by the camp fire will be getting back in the classroom soon. the offer includes notre dame catholic and chico, all education costs will be covered throughout the rest of the school year. normally it costs $5,000 to $8,000 a year. they'll receive school materials and hot lunches. >> we heard that the butte county schools were going to need more time to open and knowing that families were scattered across the north, we

just thought it would be good to open those desks to kids to get them back into school. >> displaced families interested in the offer should contact the diocese. a swimmer still missing this morning after vanishing in the pacific, his brother emerged from the surf friday afternoon but the missing man was last seen 250 yards offshore. coast guard crews helped local firefighters look for him but heavy fog made it very hard to see any signs of him in the ocean. palo alto police have released the stech of a man who's accused of exposing himself to a 14-year-old girl. the victim was walking her dog at lunchtime monday along east meadow drive when the man drove up alongside her. he asked her for directions, but the girl told officers when she looked inside the car the man's pants were down to his knees. the victim walked away and reported the incident to her mother. police say the car, the suspect was driving was a light brown or gold four door sedan with peeling paint. the search is on to find

ceremony today. the memorial event will take place at 7:00 tonight at san jose's christmas in the park event. organizers want to recognize the police officers who died in the line of duty this past year and thank them for their service. the event is put together by the launch of the fraternal order of police. now your accuweather forecast. >> hello, everyone. we're waking up to clouds to the bay area and the fog is quite dense in the north bay, so check out the visibility anywhere from about a quarter of a mile. you can see a mile up in santa rosa but livermore socked in, there the rest of the bay area not doing too bad. we have a weak weather system that's going to arrive on tuesday but between now and then we're looking at a ridge of high pressure allowing for some dry conditions. right now it is 44 in santa rosa, looking at 47 in napa, 50 in fremont, 50 in valejo. we are looking at a sunny and

mild day today and tomorrow. the next round of rain begins on tuesday. its a weak system and then we'll look for a wet and windy pattern for the middle of the week. here's our forecast animation for today in to the afternoon hours. we'll see plenty of sunshine and as we go into the next several hours into monday, look at the cloud cover. it continues to increase and we'll be looking at some rain arriving on our doorstep early tuesday morning. as we look at the amounts in a second you'll notice it gets quite impressive as we get toward thursday. 65 in san jose. numbers today a little bit milder than they were yesterday. we'll have a few high clouds around. its a light system on tuesday. light to moderate rain early in the morning, mainly in the north bay then it expands in the day. talking about a quarter of an inch and as we look at this animation, you'll notice we're pretty much dry for your tuesday

morning. as you go through the day it gets progressively wet and the system will fall apart as we go into wednesday. some heavier showers and by the afternoon we're clearing out but it looks like we still could see maybe some showers into the end of the week. let's talk about amounts now. early on tuesday, notice just about a .10 to .2 from santa rosa to napa. looking at a very light system there and as we go into wednesday, this is when the greens begin to develop and that's when the rain starts to accumulate more so into wednesday night and thursday and, in fact, we could see more rain as we get towards the end of the week. we'll keep you posted. looking at temperatures overnight in the 40s, 41 in santa rosa, 46 san francisco. the seven-day forecast looking at sunny conditions today and tomorrow. mid-60s around the bay and inland and our storm impact scale one on tuesday.

someone had proposed the notion of paradise being an alternative universe, we might've asked what he was smoking. now we know better. they have become the latest victims in a string of wildland fires that seemed inconceivable a few years ago. this last one was so hot that as people escaped they left their flaming shoes behind. we're calling this the new normal? this has been the most destructive fire season in california history, at least 101 people have died and counting. almost 1.7 million acres have burned and counting. we've spent $442 million on manpower and resources and still counting. we've lost more than 10,000 homes and still counting. that is christina hicksen who lost her home in paradise. she's showing us a video of it burning. she broke into tears again while talking about it and took to the

arms of a friend where they sat in their cars to keep warm, one can only hope that this would be rock bottom. their road ahead will be like sonoma's county road behind in butte county as in sonoma, they're discovering sifting as a metaphor for discoveries both physical and emotional. in the process they may find a wedding ring or grandmother's box and realize they lost grandmother's recipes. ahead they face the massive cleanup and long lines of well intentioned bureaucracy and the paper work, the searching for proofs, if those proofs even exist. now add frustration, confusion, anger, despair. if you're hoping for a happy ending here, it will take time. the people of butte county can and will find ways back home. as for paradise, its not lost, just redefined for now. in san francisco wayne freedman,

abc 7 news. you never know who might show up at work especially when you're near nature. the chp office in donor pass got a visit from a bear on november 17th. you can see the animal open the door, let itself in and walks passed the vending machines. turned around and ran out the door with a couple of curious chp officers trailing behind. one man is thanking a mystery stranger for a random act of kindness that went a long way. he lost his wallet on a flight, inside was 60 bucks and a check for $400. he didn't think he'd ever see any of again but then he received a package in the mail days later with his wallet and a letter signed with just initials. >> i rounded your cash up to an even $100 so you could celebrate getting your wallet back. have fun. it meant a lot that he would go out of his way that he would do that for a stranger. i've got truck loans to pay off and school loans. it helps out.

. this is abc 7 news mornings. good sunday morning, everyone. i'm chris nguyen. we're starting this half hour with a chris look at the weather. >> we to have fog around the bay. right now temperatures are mainly in the 40s and looking at the peninsula right now, we're looking at partly cloudy conditions. 48 for you in san mateo, 50 in san bruno. elsewhere about 50 in san ramon.

visibility down to nothing, quarter of a mile in napa and just over a mile in concord and livermore. 10 to 12 degrees colder from hayward to oakland and through the 10:00 hour, we'll be in the mid-to-upper 50s, partly to mostly sunny skies today. 2:00 about 64 in livermore so slightly milder today and by the evening hours dropping quickly into the 50s and the patchy fog will be back tonight along the shoreline. we'll enjoy another dry day before its time to get the umbrellas out again, chris. >> thank you. developing news from tampa, florida where reuben foster is in jail this morning on a domestic violence charge. he was taken into custody a booked at the jail saturday night. this morning, the "san frncisco chronicle" reports the victim is 28-year-old alyssa ennis, the same woman who earlier this year recanted a separate domestic violence incident to a santa clara county judge.

foster is accused of slapping her phone off her hand, pushing her in the chest area and then slapping her in the face with an open hand. officers who arrested foster saw a one inch scratch on ennis's left collar bone. foster is being held without bail. this is the fourth legal incident he has had since joining the 49ers. this is video from his previous court appearances. he was charged with misdemeanors after being found with marijuana. he is on probation after pleading no contest to a february's weapons charged. he's expected to be arraigned this morning. we'll bring those to you on abc 7 news. after the white house declined a new report saying that president trump's administration had reached a deal with mexico that would require asylum seeking migrants to wait there while their claims are decided by u.s. courts mexican officials denied it themselves. meanwhile the mayor of tijuana is asking the united nations for help.

it comes as nearly 5,000 central american migrants are waiting in the city to apply for asylum in the united states. here's marcy gonzalez. >> reporter: a humanitarian crisis is mounting on the u.s./mexico border according to the mayor of tijuana as nearly 5,000 central american migrants continue arriving in his cities. officials and volunteers are helping the migrants but the mayor refuses to deplete his city's public resources and is asking the united nations for aid. a group calling themselves border angels is teaming up to help those migrants. >> we've been there before. this is the first time we do the caravan of love. >> reporter: the so-called caravan of love will bring supplies such as none perishable foods, toiletries and blankets. many of those people fleeing violence. a report from the "the washington post" says president trump now has the support of

mexico's incoming government on a plan to remake u.s. border policy requiring asylum seekers to wait in mexico as their claims move through u.s. courts. the president has already threatened to shut down the u.s. border. >> we will close entry into the country for a period of time until we can get it under control. >> the entire border -- >> the whole poureder. >> reporter: he also says he's granted military increased authority. >> they have to they're going to use lethal force. i've given the okay. if they have to. i hope they don't have to. >> reporter: defense secretary james mattis insists u.s. troops are just there to back-up border patrol agents and will likely be armed with plastic shields and batons, not guns. marcy gonzalez, abc 7 news, los angeles. coming up later this morning on abc 7, amy klobuchar, ohio governor john kasich and chief legal analyst don abrams will join george stephanopoulos on

the legal challenges facing the trump administration. time now is 5:33. protesters are calling for justice after police shot and killed a black man at a mall in alabama. police now admitting they were wrong after originally calling him a suspect. police say thursday night when the mall was already packed with black friday shoppers, shots rang out during a fight. this happened at a mall in hoover, alabama, when officers arrived they say a man with a gun was fleeing the scene and officers shot and killed him. now officers say the man was not the one who fired shots that injured an 18-year-old and a 12-year-old. bradford's family says he was fifth generation military and wanted to help race relations in the country. >> our country needs to come to the forefront and say, we going to stop looking at a man as a color. >> that's right. >> a man is a man. >> that's right. >> investigators now believe at

least one shooter is on the run. protesters are calling for a transparent investigation and want people to boycott the mall. santa rosa stands to get $38.5 million from the federal government to build badly needed housing. the money would come from federal disaster relief money to build apartments in the city, according to the press democrat. santa rosa lost 3,000 homes last year in the devastating north bay wildfires making a bad housing situation even worse for many families. one site being considered is the former site of the journey's end mobile home park which was burned during the fires. some of the people who lost their homes to the woolsey fire in southern california are filing lawsuits against the utility company they say the company is to blame for starting the fire. the cause of the fire is still officially under investigation. attorneys representing victims of the fire in the suit against edison held a town hall friday

night. they've hired experts to help them prove their case. they also point to 9-1-1 calls and testimony. >> the power company did that and they owe a lot of people a lot of money. you can't bring the dead people back, but they owe a lot of people a lot of money. >> three people were killed in the fire. a representative from so cal edison says they can't comment at this time. a napa county wine maker accused of falsely labeling wines is making changes. copper lane llc in rutherford will change labels on two brands of wines made with oregon grapes. he promised to do it after selling the remaining 900,000 bottles. the owner told the capital press newspaper the new labels will specify the wines are made in california. last month oregon lawmakers called on federal alcohol regulators to look into those labels. still ahead on abc 7

north bay and east bay we're looking at dense fog so that may spread into the bay. we could see some airport delays on this busy sunday but as we look live outside there, it doesn't look too bad and we are looking at rain. in fact, anticipating rain as we get towards tuesday. this is a light system. its a one on our storm impact scale. we're looking at light to moderate showers and rain will be expanding throughout the north bay into the south bay anywhere from .10 to .20 of the our camera there you can see morning and the couple of dry days to enjoy. today and tomorrow, before things really start to change. look at petaluma. zero visibility with hayward getting into the act. its pretty good in the south bay right now but with a little bit of moisture in there and longer nights we're looking at that fog being a problem this morning and potentially tomorrow morning as well. the big picture you'll notice

the storm track well to the north, the ridge of high pressure protecting us for the next 48 hours. it is 53 downtown, 49 in san jose. morgan hill checking in at 46 and we're 47 in napa. emeryville right now our forecast highlights mostly sunny and mild today. next round of rain begins on tuesday starting in the north bay for that morning commute and then a wet and windy pattern setting up the middle of the week. this will last likely into the end of the week and as we go through the next few hours, notice we're getting into the sun there later on in the afternoon today and in through sunday and monday we're dry but increasing clouds as we get towards your monday afternoon and then rain cueing up offshore then for early on tuesday for that commute. highs today around the bay slightly milder. we'll look for those low to mid-60s inland. a lot of sunshine out there. 60 at half moon bay. these are average temperatures for this time of year and as we take a look at your tuesday morning, here comes the rain. it pushes through 11:00 in the
