bay this morning, not quite yesterday expanded into san francisco, but look at the quarter mile visibility from concord, napa, petaluma, livermore and hayward. the peninsula looking pretty good right now. it is in the upper 40s for much of the east bay, 45 in pleasant hill. back closer to the bay, 53 in san francisco, 44 in san jose. we are certainly cooler this morning as 12 degrees cooler in oakland, 13 degrees cooler half moon bay. so we're looking at a dry afternoon. in fact, a lot of sunshine, temperatures may be a couple degrees warmer climbing through the low to mid-60s in our inland valleys, low 60s around the bay. upper 50s coast side, high clouds with us today. another dry day before a very active pattern gets reset for the last week of november. chris? >> lisa, thank you. developing news, san francisco 49ers reuben foster has been released by the team after he was arrested last night at the team hotel in tampa, florida, on domestic violence charges. the 24-year-old was taken into

custody and was booked into the county jail. a police spokesperson said foster is accused of slapping a woman's phone off her hand, pushing her in the chest area and then slapping the victim in the face with an open hand. officers who arrested foster saw a one inch scratch on the accuser's left collar bone. he's being held without bail. the niners announced they were releasing foster about ten minutes ago. this is video from his previous court appearances. earlier this year, a judge dropped domestic violence charges after foster's ex-girlfriend recanted allegations made against him. the niners have said before that the team has a zero-tolerance policy on domestic violence. the team will play the tampa bay buccaneers at 10:00 a.m. today without foster. he is expected to be arraigned some time this morning and will continue to follow those developments from tampa, florida. now to an update on the warrior instead of curry. he was involved in a car accident friday. he appeared to be fine.

but if you've been in a crash before, you know injuries can pop up the next day. warriors coach says he went through a workout yesterday and appears to be okay. >> he is doing fine today. he went and played a little scrimmage today in the facility. didn't report any ancillary stuff from yesterday and felt pretty good after he got off the floor, so its all good stuff. >> curry is also recovering from a groin injury and the team expects him back in the line-up potentially on his upcoming road trip. the holiday weekend has been dangerous and deadly on bay area roads. rain slick pavement has contributed to a number of accidents including one which sent a chp officer to the hospital in the north bay. cornell bernard has more advice for drivers coming from the chp. >> reporter: the chp patrol unit sits undrivable and heavily damaged. its back window smashed after

officers responded to a spinout on south bound highway 101 vfg ed ajerton's suv. >> it was foggy, drizzly. the roads were wet. >> reporter: the chp says officers were laying cones and flares when the driver of a toyota lost control of her car and headed right for one of the officers. >> we are very fortunate that that officer was able to see the car coming and react quick enough. he jumped into the back of the patrol vehicle less than a second before the vehicle collided with them. >> reporter: the officer suffered mild injured. the driver of the toyota died later at the hospital. a 24-year-old san jose man died and three others injured in a suspected drunk driving crash early saturday on interstate 280. the chp says the driver who survived missed a curb at the highway 17 connecter, struck a tree and rolled over. >> losing control, spinning out.

>> reporter: we rode along with the chp officer, he says speed will be the biggest hazard this rainy season. >> driver slow down and drove appropriately for the conditions, we would -- we would not see nearly the amount of crashes that we see. >> reporter: so drive carefully and, of course, wear your seat belt. the name of the victim who was killed saturday on highway 101 has not been released. the chp officer who was injured has been released from the hospital. in sausalito, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. work to repair the damaged docks at the san francisco ferry building after friday's ferry boat crash should be done some time today but with one of golden gate's largest ferries damaged and out of service, this could be some long-term service impacts. here's more. >> reporter: crews cut and cleared the mangled metal and concrete at gate b along the san francisco waterfront. the cause of the damage? >> oh, my god. >> oh!

>> reporter: you can hear and see in this witness video. the ms san francisco slamming into the dock near the slanted door restaurant friday afternoon. but on a sunny saturday, the crash did not phase passengers. >> it definitely does not stop me from wanting to ride the ferry. >> reporter: port of san francisco workers inspected the structural integrity of the dock. the agency expects repairs to be complete by sunday. in the meantime, ferries are docking at different berths. passengers taking it in stride. >> when i got off here, they said to make sure you get back on here. >> reporter: the damaged ferry was towed back to larks birg and the coast guard is investigating the cause of the crash. >> you see the first entry right there -- >> reporter: passengers tell us it first hit the dock of the terminal and crashed at gate b all without warning.

>> i don't have any problem with it. this incident that happened, its just a rare occurrence. i don't know the full details, but with the many decades that the service has been running, i think this is the first time i've heard of any problems. >> reporter: golden gate ferry has seven vessels in its fleet. its unclear how long it will take to repair the ms san francisco. with one boat down it could impact ferry service come monday. in san francisco, katie utes, abc 7 news. the death toll has gone up again with the number at 87 people. its the most destructive fire on record burning nearly 14,000 homes, 475 people are still unaccounted for. firefighters are making progress, containment has gone up to 98%. evacuation orders are being lifted allowing people to return to their neighborhoods to see if their homes survived the inferno. some kids affected by the camp fire will be getting back in the classroom soon. the dioceses of sacramento is

offering those kids free tuition to its more than three dozen private schools. the offer includes notre dame, catholic school in chico, all education costs will be covered through the rest of the school year. normally tuition costs between 5,000 to $6,000. displaced students will receive uniforms, school materials and hot lunches. >> we heard that the butte county schools were going to need more time to reopen and knowing that families have been scattered across the north in the sacramento area, we just thought it would be good to open those desks to kids to get them back into school. >> displaced families interested in the offer should contact the sacramento dioceses. a swimmer is still missing this morning after vanishing in the pacific off daly city. his brother emerged from the surf friday afternoon but the missing man was last seen about 250 yards offshore. coast guard crews helped local firefighters look for him but heavy fog made it hard for them

to see any signs of him in the ocean. palo alto have released a sketch of a man accused of exposing himself to a 14-year-old girl last week. take a good look at this sketch. police say the victim was walking her dog at lunchtime monday along east meadow drive when the man drove up alongside her. he asked her for directions, but the girl then told officers when she looked inside the car the man's pants were down to his knees. the victim walked away and reported the incident to her mother. police say the car the suspect was driving was a light brown or gold four door sedan with peeling paint. the search is on to find longtime bay area talk show host ray talifero. he vanished from kentucky. the 79-year-old gained fame hosting shows on kgo radio from 1977 until 2011. police in kentucky stay he was last seen at a piz area on november 10th.

the numbers are still coming in but it looks like shoppers are out in full force on black friday. sales are projected at $23 billion up from 21 billion last year. there's an uptick in online sales. on thanksgiving day people spent over $6 billion which is an increase of nearly 24% from last year. it was a big day for the little guys with people spending an estimated $85 billion during small business saturday. abc 7 news got in on the retail action in san francisco. >> reporter: i have a confession to make, i shopped on the job, but, hey, its always a big day

the market features almost 30 businesses and food trucks owned by black women. organizers say the event has been going on for seven years but this one was the biggest yet. >> these folks are not necessarily getting in to some of the larger markets that are happening in other parts of california, so we decided to create our own and create a space that's intentionally centering black women and making sure these products get featured to the community. >> an american express survey found 83% of consumers planned to do at least some of their holiday shopping at a small, independently owned retailer or restaurant. don't be surprised if you see postal workers out making deliveries this morning. the united states postal service is already getting into the holiday rush. on friday, carriers started making deliveries as early as 5:30 a.m. here in the bay area. the postal service is anticipating a big increase in packages possibly 50 million more than last year. in the south bay, law enforcement officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice will be honored during a special

ceremony today. the memorial event will take place at 7:00 tonight at san jose's christmas in the park event. organizers want to recognize the police officers who died in the line of duty this past year and thank them for their service. the event is put together by the launch of the fraternal order of police. boy scouts and their families relaunched a tradition that spans generations in the east bay. yesterday a local favorite called the tap dancing christmas trees helped kickoff year 50 for the boy scouts christmas tree lot in piedmont. it raises money for the boy scouts. >> you're supporting the community, you know, and the scouting community in particular, but the community in general, as well, so and there's a lot of folks -- we get a lot of return customer that's come back here year after year. >> the scouts even helped with loading trees on a customer's

cars. they hope to sell 1,700 trees in total. the lot will stay open until the trees are sold out. >> so far sfo is okay but we are looking at quarter mile visibility. petaluma, napa and concord with a quarter mile. hayward nine miles at the coast. things change quickly with the low clouds so you could anticipate delays, of course, today. a very busy day with everyone hitting the roads trying to get back to work or school. high pressure temporarily building overhead giving us a couple of dry days before the rain returns for a much of the middle of the week and potentially the end of the week. we're looking at 50 in fremont, 49 in valejo, 44 in santa rosa and a live look outside, still dark out there, the sun coming up at 7:00. sunny and mild today through tomorrow. the next round of rain begins on tuesday. its a weak system. only about a quarter of inch is

expected. a slight break into your wednesday morning commute and wet and windy for wednesday afternoon, wednesday night and into thursday. here's a look at today. you can see we have sunshine throughout the afternoon. we'll get into more fog tonight. some high clouds, your monday's looking dry and then right off shore there you'll notice as we end this at about 5:30 in the morning on tuesday, rain pushing in to sonoma. its going to be a weak system followed by a pretty strong system and a colder one at that. 63 today with some sunshine for you in oakland. it'll be 65 in san jose. we're bringing in our storm impact scale a one which the light to moderate rain. it'll start early in the north bay and spread throughout the bay, anywhere from a .10 to .25 of an inch with this system. it dries until it spreads throughout the afternoon and the early evening commute looks like scattered showers into wednesday morning. it looks like we get a break and this is when the timing gets dicey because by the afternoon and evening hours, the rain is

beginning. its coming down pretty heavy wednesday night into thursday and then by thursday afternoon into friday, it looks like a short break before it looks like maybe next saturday we could see a return to some wet weather. your tuesday morning looking on the damp side through tuesday night anywhere from a .10 to .20 and as we get into your wednesday night, here's when the totals start to add up, 1 1/2 in novato and its just getting going there on wednesday. the accurate weather seven-day forecast, mild today. by tuesday, our storm impact scale of one priming the atmosphere with a weak system and then by wednesday and thursday looking at the rain beginning on wednesday and picking up throughout the evening and overnight hours. it looks like a soggy commute on thursday. you can download our weather app to keep track of live doppler 7, maybe a short break on friday before another wet weekend. looking pretty good out there with a break in between the storm systems and a nice sunny

themselves. meanwhile, the mayor of tijuana is asking the united nations for help and it comes as nearly 5,000 central american migrants are waiting in the city to apply for asylum in the u.s. here's marcy gonzalez. >> reporter: a humanitarian crisis is mounting on the u.s./mexico border according to the mayor of tijuana as nearly 5,000 central american migrants continue arriving in his city. officials and volunteers are helping the migrants but the mayor of tijuana refuses to deplete his city's public resources and is asking the united nations for aid, a group calling them border angels has teamed up with other organizations across southern california to help those migrants. >> we've been there before. but this is the first time we do the caravan of love. >> reporter: they'll bring supplies of nonperishable foods, toiletries and blankets. many of those migrants fleelg violence or poverty in honduras may be spending months in tijuana.

a report from "the washington post" says president trump now has the support of mexico's incoming government on a plan to remake america's border policy. require asylum seekers to wait in mexico as their claims move through u.s. courts. the president has already threatened to shut down the u.s. border. >> we'll close entry into the country for a period of time until we can get it under control. the whole border. >> he also says he's granted military increased authority. >> if they have to they'll use lethal force. i've given the okay, if they have to. you hope they don't have to. >> reporter: james mattis insist that's u.s. troops are just there to back up border patrol agents and will likely be armed with plastic shields and ba tons, not guns. marcy gonzalez, abc 7 news, los angeles. coming up this morning on abc 7, senate judiciary member amy klobuchar, john kasich andnd dan abrams will join george

stephanopoulos on the legal changes facing the trump administration. don't miss it at 8:00 a.m. time now is 6:33. protesters are calling for justice after police shot and killed a black man at a mall in alabama. police now admitting they were wrong after originally calling him a suspect. police say thursdy night when the mall was already packed with black friday shoppers, shots rang out during a fight. when officers arrived, they say a man with a gun was fleeing the scene. an officer shot and killed him. now, officers say the man was not the one who fired shots that injured an 18-year-old and a 12-year-old. the family of the victim says he was fifth generation military and wanted to help race relations in the country. >> our country needs to come not forefront and say we going to stop looking at a man as a color. >> that's right. >> a man is a man. >> investigators now believe at least one shooter is on the run. protesters are calling for a

transparent investigation and want people to boycott the mall. santa rosa stands to get $38.5 million from the federal government to build badly needed housing. the money would come from federal disaster relief money to build apartments in the city. that's according to the press democrat. santa rosa lost 3,000 homes last year in the devastating north bay wildfires making a bad housing situation even worse for many families. one site being considered is the former site of the journey's end mobile home park which was burned during the fires. some of the people who lost their homes to the woolsey fire in southern california are filing lawsuits against the utility company. they say that company is to blame for starting the fire. the cause of it is still officially under investigation but attorneys representing victims of the fire in the suit against so cal edison held a town hall friday night. they've hired experts to help them prove their case. they also point to 9-1-1 calls and eyewitness testimony.

one man suing animal rescue. >> the power company did that and they owe a lot of people a lot of money. can't bring the dead people back, but they owe a lot of people a lot of money. >> three people were killed in the fire. a representative from so cal edison has said they cannot comment on lawsuits related to the fire at this time. a napa county wine maker accused of falsely labeling wines as an oregon coast pinot noir is making changes. he'll change labels on two brands of wines made with oregon grapes and they promised to do it after selling the remaining 900,000 bottles. the owner told "the capital press" newspaper the new labels will specify the wines are made in california. last month oregon lawmakers called on federal alcohol regulators to look into the labels. still ahead on abc 7 mornings. there's a new paw patrol in the south bay. what two canines will be looking for when they go on transit

afternoon, the afternoon commute will see scattered afternoon showers. here's wednesday morning, then by mid-day on wednesday, this is when the stronger system moves on through, heavy rain offshore. the evening commute is wet, thursday morning look wet and by the afternoon we're looking at perhaps another break and rainfall amounts with that first system may be a .10 to .20. so wednesday night it looks like the rainfall amounts will come up over an inch in san francisco better than that in the north bay but this one looks to be focused as well along the central bay so you folks in the south bay and the peninsula should also pick up a decent amount of rain through thursday and friday. the seven-day forecast featuring the dry days today and tomorrow. then a one on our storm impact scale for tuesday. wednesday/thursday looking at heavier rain, the colder storms.
