this morning on "world news now," confrontation at the border. the world's busiest crossing has now re-opened after hundreds of migrants clashed with u.s. and mexican authorities. customs and border patrol firing tear gas at the crowd. a travel nightmare for so many trying to make it home after the thanksgiving holiday. blizzard conditions across the middle of the country causing all sorts of travel problems, especially in chicago where hundreds of flights have been cancelled. also in this half hour, cyber monday, online shopping's busiest day. >> the big ticket items that are nearly 90% off and the warning about electronics sold at a deep discounts. and the notorious rbg, ruth bader ginsburg, now immortalized in ink.

and get this, an a-list celebrity is the one paying special tribute to the supreme court justice with a tattoo. that's later in "the skinny" on this monday, november 26th. from abc news, this is "world news now." pop icon there. >> yes. and a trooper. >> yeah. >> as she is still recovering from a fall. >> yep. we begin this half hour with a dramatic scene at the southern border. hundreds of migrants making a run for that huge crossing in california. >> as the asylum seekers from central america stormed the border and jumped fences, u.s. officials responded with, you see it there, tear gas and they shut down the crossing, stopping traffic in and out of tijuana for hours. now mexico is vowing to deport about 500 migrants involved in this clash. abc's marci gonzalez is in tijuana. >> reporter: chaos erupting on the border. hundreds of migrating rushing to cross to the u.s. from mexico.

the group pushing past mexican authorities in riot gear, climbing over barricades. one group attempts to climb on top of this train where they were confronted by mexican police. at one point migrants retreating after reports of border agents throwing tear gas canisters. it is a tense situation here right now. these mexican police in riot gear pushing this group of migrants back. they are yelling at the officers, angry because they say that tear gas injured two >> reporter: this video showing migrants running through traffic at the entrance to the border. the u.s. border patrol shutting down this port of entry to cars and pedestrians. it's unknown if anyone made it across. additional officers were deployed to stave off the crowds. the latest clashes come after continued threats by president trump to mexico. >> we will close entry into the country for a period of time until we can get it under control. >> for the entire border? >> the whole border. i mean the whole border. >> reporter: senators from his own party responding.

>> well, we would prefer that we keep it open, so let's work really hard to make sure we're addressing the asylum seekers before they actually come over the border. i think that's the intent of the president, is to divert any issues before they actually happen. so of course we don't want to see the border closed, but you know what, safety of our nation comes t.rs >> reporter: trump again blaming democrats for the central american caravan, tweeting, "would be very smart if mexico would stop the caravans long before they get to our southern border or if originating countries would not let them form. no crossings." tijuana's mayor calling it a humanitarian crisis as questions increase looking for solutions to calm the situation. u.s. customs and border protection saying that point of entry has re-opened, adding everyone who tried to cross illegally through those vehicle lanes marci gonzalez, abc news, oo.icf san diego.

to come back up to new york. that must have been a nightmare. well, turning now to the final pitch for votes in that racially charged senate race in mississippi. president trump just returned to the white house from his thanksgiving break in florida and he's flying out again this afternoon to hold two rallies for the republican candidate who is facing growing allegations of racism ahead of tomorrow's runoff. abc's david wright with the details. >> reporter: republican cindy hyde-smith, the first woman ever to represent mississippi in congress, is once again taking heat for where she appears to stand on the s's etetaosisedac this weekend when the "jackson free press" reported she went to high school at an all-white segregation academy and published this yearbook photo. years later she sent her daughter to a similar school. hyde-smith's campaign calls the allegations a new low.

time of year and espy's voters are motivated because of the race issues. the president is now headed to mississippi to make sure that his voters turn out, too. david wright, abc news, new york. ohio governor john kasich says he's very seriously considering a run against president trump in 2020. as he wraps up his final term as governor, the 66-year-old republican told abc's george stephanopoulos that virtually every day he's having earnest conversations about running. kasich has criticized the president over the divisive political environment as well as certain policies like immigration. former trump campaign manager corey lewandowski is denying the report that secret service had to break up an altercation he had in the west wing with white house chief of staff john kelly. lewandowski told fox news he and kelly had a candid discussion but declined to say if kelly grabbed him. lewandowski is promoting a new book which alleges many administration officials are working against the president's agenda. he'll be on "good morning america" later this morning.
