"chronicle" this morning, it is howard terminal along the waterfront. they believe the howard terminal location is the best way to generate excitement with fans, sell more tickets and make them money to help pay for this new stadium. a formal announcement is expected today with proposed schedules of the stadium. we will send out more information on the abc 7 news app when it becomes available. >> this will be the smallest of all the stadiums in major league baseball. we'll see how this turns out. alexis tracking the wet commute for the rest of the week. we have al of rain in the forecast. >> we are already seeing issues in some areas. in the north bay, marin chp posted this of a rockslide on panoramic highway at pan toll road. you should always drive at a speed that lets you safely react to hazards. and this is interstate 80 and highway 50 last night. the chains are required on 80

hour-by-hour forecast. in other news, a high school death that shocked an east bay community. a student drowned in swim class in front of his classmates and his teacher. >> now the family is suing the school district saying the teacher in charge was distracted by his cell phone. amy hollyfield live for us in danville. amy. >> reporter: hi. good morning. the attorney for the family says there is surveillance video of the pool that day and that it shows 15-year-old ben curry struggling to stay afloat. it shows the p.e. teacher looking at something in his hand that looks like a cell phone. according to the police report, the 57 students in the p.e. class had been told to tread water three and a half minutes. this happened back in may at san ramon valley high school. the family's attorney says there were no lifeguards on duty and the teacher's certification had expired.

the sheriff's office said the deputy tried to pull him over for running a red light. that turned into a chase. the deputy briefly lost sight of the car and then found the wreck. developing news, president trump says his upcoming meeting with russian president vladimir putin may not happen. the president tells the the washingt"washington post", very determineative. a spokesperson said the planned beating has not changed. the two are scheduled to meet during the g20 summit later this week. a controversial experiment. the lead chinese researcher said a second pregnancy is under way. the scientist presented his findings at a medical conference in hong kong. he said the results of the first

it's moving all over the place. it is thickest in santa rosa, and around san francisco. here you can see from the exploratorium camera, pier 15. you can barely see across the street. light showers continuing. dangerous surf. snow levels at 5,000 feet. a winter storm warning right now. if you have to travel, it's doable but not very safe. a break this afternoon. by 6:00, more showers starting to roll back in. for the north bay, we have fog and a chance of light rain from 2:00. a little bit of a break at 4:00 and 6:00. showers resume at 8:00. last stop, peninsula, noon to 4:00, we get a break. 6:00 it ramps up again with that stronger storm rolling in. in fact, we have three or four chances in the seven-day forecast. i'll have that next. here's alexis. hopefully we get a little

better driving in the rain since we have several days of it. not going so well here. we have had several crashes. a little bit of good news here in the north bay. southbound 101 at the end of the robin williams tunnel, the crash has cleared. that was just one vehicle off one side of the roadway, ended up on the right shoulder. crews were able to tow it out. a similar collision north of there early this morning. northbound 87, curtner, a hit and run crash. someone lost control, hit another vehicle in the left lane. the vehicle took off. the one that was hit is still sitting in the left lane. heavy in that area. many of us will get new phones over the holiday season. what happens when you turn in our old phone. is the data really wiped away for good? san francisco's chinese san francisco's chinese communit

cupertino. so 37, 87, and 280 all getting wet right now. even more so. it becomes more scattered for the rest of us. here we are at 7:00 in the morning. heaviest rain down around big sur. they are worried about mudslides there. as we head through, you can see scattered showers develop again during the afternoon hours. light to moderate green to yellow there. but watch what happens towards 6:00. it starts to spread. the strongest part of the storm comes in tonight at 1:00. of look at that. reds, thunderstorms, downpours, ponding, flooding possible. at 7:00 tomorrow morning, through the morning commute, it continues once again. so we've got rainfall potential. a quarter inch today. more than an inch by tomorrow morning. we have the high surf until 4:00 friday morning. here's a look at the flood watch for the burn scars. 10:00 tonight through 11:00 tomorrow morning. my accuweather 7-day forecast. tomorrow's storm will be the strongest.

new at 6:00, when you try to upgrade your phone, you typically try to sell your old phone. you can't be sure all your personal information will be totally wiped from your phone. the largest data recovery did an experiment. they brought 25 phones from marketplace, ebay and other retailers. they found banking apps, facebook accounts that were still logged in. some people even had their passwords saved in the notes app. apple says it is key to erase all that data and it's not that hard to do. here's abc's becky wuerl to demonstrate. >> reporter: it only takes a few easy steps to do that. you go to settings, general, reset, and erase all content. you can do it on the phone. if the screen is broken, plug it in. see if you can do it in i taoit.

bay bridge toll plaza. actually i picked this because there was a lot of fog here a second ago. it has rolled out. mike showed you what it looked like in south beach on the other end of the bridge. a little sheen on the pavement. metering lights were on fairly early, 5:18 the official time. taking you to 680, i have an update and a correction. northbound 680, sunol, not the southbound side. four vehicles were pushed off to the shoulder. backup northbound. averaging 16 miles per hour on the southbound side. next traffic update at 6:40. no matter where your commute takes you, you may run into wet roads. we have seen wet roads from the north bay to san jose. it will be the same the rest of the week. an even bigger storm is on its way. >> matt keller is live in the santa cruz mountains where preparations are under way. morngjessica. reggie. yeah, we have seen a lot of activity since i last saw you an

hour ago. a crash that happened just to the south of us on highway 17 from the summit. crash crashed into a center divider, went down an embankment. everybody is okay. you can see what is happening behind me. brake lights. traffic backed up at the summit. another two-vehicle crash to the north of us here. chp, fire trucks responded there. it looks like they will get that cleared off. it is causing backups. that just means this will be an interesting community. public works crews have been busy santa cruz county for storm runoff. it helps prevent flooding in the neighborhoo neighborhoods. >> some channels will flood. we will be heading to those. we have been heading to them to get them cleared out and handle the am of flow we are expecting. >> reporter: they are hampered >> reporter: they are hampered by budget constraints.

residents must fill sandbags on their own. they will be checking the roads for downed trees and mudslides and of course all the crashes. the chp and fire departments taking care of those. matt keller, abc 7 news. matt, thank you. caltrans crews have been hard at caltrans crews have been hard at work this week. caltrans worked quickly to fill a sizable pothole on highway 101, south san francisco. it started crumbling around 1:00 yesterday afternoon. it took crews almost six hours to repair the damage. the patch took this morning than usual to dry. caltrans plans to close part of highway 1 because of today's storm. it involves the 12-mile stretch between mud creek and paul slide.

it is a precaution against a possible rockslide like the one that hit the area in may of last year. highway 1 just reopened in july after $54 million in repairs. crews are patrolling bay area beaches, warning visitors about the dangerous surf being produced by these latest storms. members of a fire department are patrolling ocean beach where powerful waves were crashing into the shore yesterday. >>? that gets a hold of you, that basically pulls you out into the ocean. the currents, you have three to four different currents at ocean beach at any given time. you could be pulled left, right, whichever way depending on the forces that are out there. >> the fire department says surfers should stay out of the water until friday morning when a high surf advisory ends. crews in san francisco are busy protecting flood-prone
