680, walnut creek to dublin, 13 minutes. it has not been easy navigating highway 17 through the santa cruz mountains. today we're great. highway 1 in the green at 22 minutes to los gatos. breaking news. a massive new data breach. >> this time affecting hundreds of millions of people who stayed at marriott, sheraton and w hotels. asar hassan has the critical information compromised. ansar? >> reporter: yeah. good morning, guys. marriott issued a statement this morning admitting this data breach goes back to at least 2014. the hotel says they were informed back in september but are only informing guests of it now. in this statement, marriott says 500 million customers could be impacted. the hackers copied and encrypted

the personal information of two-thirds of their guests who made reservations at starwood properties, including names, date of bitter, passport numbers, address. they went to to say there are two components needed to decrypt in numbers. at this point marriott has not been able to look at the possibility that both were taken. marriott will begin e-mailing guests whose information was compromised starting today. they have set up a website and call center for those impacted. ansar hassan, abc 7 news. that's horrifying. ansar, thank you. dramatic new body camera video shows what some survivors had to go through to make it out of the deadly camp fire. deadly camp fire. oh, that's not good.

>> that is something to see. he turned on his body camera because he thought he was going to die. flames quickly surrounded them. with his car broken down, there was no clear way out. luckily, a bulldozer showed up. the deputy flagged it down. they squeezed as many people as they could. others followed behind on foot. here is the amazing news. that entire group was able to make it out safely. >> oh, my goodness. evacuation orders are still in effect in parts of butte county after the latest storm. heavy rain brought flash floods to areas already devastated by the camp myer. the flash flood warning expired last night. the sheriff's office still has mandatory evacuation orders in two areas. 35 families filed a lawsuit against pg&e for losses in the

camp fire. it alleges the utility failed to safely and properly maintain its power lines. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. in a statement to the mercury news, pg&e says it is appear of the lawsuit. the primary focus is supporting first responders, helping communities. we saw high emotions at the california public utilities commission meeting. many voiced concerns about pg&e's possible role in the camp fire. a number of people spoke at the podium ahead of this demonstration. many said they believe pg&e is responsible for the camp fire and the tubbs fire, among other fires. they want to see the state take over the for-profit company. classes will resume across several campuses in butte county on monday. officials specialty half the district to return to school. >> the fires either destroyed or damaged most of the school.

>> hotel giant marriott just revealed a security breach that exposed the personal information of more than half a billion gusts. marriott found out in early september about unauthorized access to guest information at starwood properties. someone copied and encrypted a customer database. it contained credit card numbers, names, mailing addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, passport numbers, birthdays, gender, arrival and departure information, and reservation dates. wow. marriott is taking steps to monitor and protect their personal information. a bizarre story on the peninsula. the highway patrol is trying to figure out if a driver suspected of dui was behind the wheel of a tesla with autopilot engaged. >> matt keller live in palo alto with that story.

matt. >> reporter: reggie, ironically, this bizarre chase of an electric car ended up here at a gas station in palo alto. incident was a seven-mile chase. here's what the chp says happened this morning. they were following a tesla model s going about 70 miles per hour on southbound 101, whipple the officer pulled up next to the car and saw the driver was slumped over and appeared to be asleep at the wheel. eventually the car ends up at the shell gas station in palo alto. they gave the driver a field sobriety test, and he was arrested. no word what charges he may face. matt keller, abc 7 news. new, stanford university is investigating a math lecturer for sexual misconduct. former student athletes say the teacher stared at them

inappropriately in the showers. according to the bay area news group, seven former stanford wrestlers claimed lecturer hung le oldsmobiled them when they were e naked in a locker room open to the community. several wregs ellers say some of the coaches knew but did nothing to stop it. the coaches dispute that claim. le says the allegations are a misunderstanding. he told the bay area news group, i am shocked that some of the wrestlers said they were uncomfortable. no one ever said anything to me. stanford will be wrapping up the investigation as early as today. developing news in the north bay, the man wanted for the beating of a woman is under arrest. >> james faulkenberry turned himself in. it came a day after his photo was released to the public. they were searching for him following this bar fight. it happened two weeks ago at stone sports bar in napa. he and another man punched and kicked a woman several times. the second man turned himself in in a few days after that attac

developing news out of berkeley. pg&e have restored power to 2,000 customers in the dark overnight. no word yet what caused the outage. a woman posted this video of a bright flash in the middle of the night on twitter. she said she saw three flashes. they happened right before the power outage at 11:00 last night. crews are racing to repair damage created by the latest storm before the next one gets it. it created potholes and cracks in the pavement on several roads. they were busy doing fixes. water covered the pavement making for dangerous driving conditions. we had a few crashes right there. in milpitas, they spotted a rest. drivers forget the standard advice from chp. >> slow down. realize the visibility will be lower and the roads are going to be wet. make sure you're not tailgating. wear your seat belt. look far ahead in front of you.
