taliaferro. abc 7 news reporter amanda del castillo is live outside kgo radio studios with more on his life and more on this ongoing investigation. amanda. >> reporter: jessica, reggie, taliaferro's body was found sunday not far from where he was last seen november 10th in paducah, kentucky. they are in the process of working to find out what happened to their loved one. a.m. 810 from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. for decades. he was a decorated man. a national association of black journalists award in his name. he also served as president of san francisco's naacp. as president of the city's arts commission. and as president of the leukemia society where he raised millions of dollars with the help of abc 7 news. there's no doubt taliaferro was

enable push alerts. we will notify you when the event is about to get under way after a fire tore through an apartment building in san francisco. and the fire also killed a pet cat. abc 7 news was at the scene at larkin and california streets in the knob hill neighborhood. it started 4:30 yesterday afternoon. the nine-unit complex quickly filled with smoke. all residents evacuated safely. there is no word yet what sparked this fire. massive cleanup efforts in paradise and butte county after the deadliest wildfire in california history. >> the camp fire burned 240 square miles and destroyed or damaged 20,000 structures. leaving behind toxic substances like paint, batteries, cleaners and pesticides. the epa is leading the interagency effort to remove the toxic substances. cal recycle teams will go in, remove larger, nonhazardous debris. also happening today, students from the eight school students from the eight school sites that burned in the

cornell. >> reporter: jessica and reggie; it just reopened in the mission following this shooting investigation. the sfpd confirms two people were shot. they also confirmed homicide investigators were on scene this morning. police say it happened 1:30 a.m. when shots were fired not far from a bar at 16th and streets. crime scene investigators have been combing the streets looking for evidence, looking for bullet casings and talking to possible witnesses. police closed a two-block area for several hours while they looked for clues. at this point, we don't know what led up to the shooting. at this point police are also saying one victim was taken to the hospital. live in san francisco, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. >> cornell, thank you. on the peninsula, the man accused of being passed out while his tesla was driving down highway 101 is expected in court

this morning. chp arrested 45-year-old alexander samek on dui charges. "abc 7 mornings" brought it to you here as breaking news. they believe the tesla model s was on autopilot. a patrol car got in front and forced it to come to a stop. officers took him and the tesla off the freeway in palo alto and then made the arrest. he is chairman of the los altos planning commission. in the east bay, a woman in a wheelchair is in the hospital with critical injuries after a hit and run accident happened early yesterday morning at a strip mall near clear brook road in antioch. a 65-year-old woman was crossing a 65-year-old woman was crossing the street when she was hit. eastcountytoday.net provided us with these pictures. remembering a local legend. long time bay area radio host ray taliaferro's body was found.

amanda del castillo has more on taliaferro's life. >> reporter: he went missing november 10th. his body was found sunday not far from where he went missing in paducah, kentucky. the fbi is helping with the investigation into the disappearance and death of the long-time bay area radio host. his family says they're also working with police. beyond his decades as host of a.m. 810, taliaferro once led a.m. 810, taliaferro once led the chapter of the naacp. as president of the city's arts commission. he helped to honor black broadcasters and was honored by that organization.
