officials say this video shows a washington state woman pushing another woman off a bridge last summer. you see it there. it was shocking when we first saw it. now this video is evidence in a trial of taylor smith which has now been put off until february. the teen who fell says it has already been difficult waiting for her former friend's trial. she suffered severe injuries from the fall. still tough to watch that. >> it is really hard to watch that. cbs may have grounds to deny the $120 million severance to former chief les moonves. >> a report reviewed by "the new york times" says moonves destroyed evidence and misled investigators. he was forced to step down in september after allegations of sexual misconduct. moonves was one of the most powerful men in hollywood and broadcasting for decades.

>> cbs says no findings have been reported to its board and it has reached no conclusions as of yet. his lawyer says moonves denies the allegations and has fully cooperated with the investigation. we've got this video that just came out. it shows former chiefs running back kareem hunt in an altercation at a kansas city club this past january. no charges filed in this case. another man involved in the incident claims he had a broken nose from this. follows another video showing hunt shoving and kicking a woman last february. public records show the nfl didn't publicly request that video until it was posted online. the league insists its investigation began when it learned of the incident, which it says was back in february. well, to california now where many northern california families are suffering after the devastating camp fire. but one family has been especially hit hard. 65 members of the hyatt family lost 15 homes when the fire destroyed the town of paradise. >> many of them are now staying

last night, pausing at the casket and taking the time to greet mourners who had waited in line, many of them for hours. >> there will be a departure ceremony this morning just before the state funeral at the national cathedral. in addition to the current and past presidents, german chancellor angela merkel and prince charles will be there. abc's terry moran has more. >> reporter: as dusk fell in washington, president trump and the first lady arrived at blair house where the bush clan is staying, and there to greet them president george w. bush and laura bush. the four then making their way inside. a rare moment of civic graciousness in america. and it followed a quiet tribute. the trumps entering the capitol rotunda where president bush lies in state, silently paying their respects and then a crisp salute from the 45th president to the 41st. all of this even more noteworthy given the history between these families. president trump knocked jeb bush out of the 2016 campaign. he sharply repudiated many policies of president george w.

bush. in 1988, trump reportedly offered to be the first president bush's running mate, an offer that went nowhere. all of that was put aside. president trump even sent air force one to texas to transport george h.w. bush's casket to washington. and all day they filed past, many wiping away tears or holding their hands over their hearts. veterans offering salutes to an american hero. the former cia chiefs honored their predecessor and then this unforgettable moment, former senator bob dole, 95 years old, wheelchair-bound, lifted to his feet and one final salute to his brother in arms from world war ii. among the crowds, many whose lives are so different because of the americans with disabilities act signed into law by president bush. >> if there is any president that i want to pay my respects to, it's the man who helped pass the law that esathme freedoms a else. >> reporter: and there too in

the rotunda, sully, the loyal service dog whose friendship with president bush has captured the nation. the bush family arrived, stopping by to thank mourners one by one and to pay their own respects. there's a real feeling of unity for once here in washington. melania trump, the first lady, inviting former first lady laura bush and a whole bunch of the bush family over to the white house to see the white house decorations, to visit with old friends on the resident staff. it's the kind of unity that the late president bush would certainly have appreciated. terry moran, abc news, washington. >> and in one of the many tributes to president bush, the navy released a video detailing his military service during world war ii. >> yeah. the narrator explaining how a

20-year-old bush became the youngest naval aviator at the . then he had to swim to a life raft and was eventually pulled to safety by a u.s. submarine. unreal. >> make sure to stay with us here at abc news for live coverage of the state funeral. george stephanopoulos and david muir lead our coverage starting at 10:00 a.m. eastern. breaking overnight in the russia investigation, special counsel robert mueller is recommending no prison time for former national security adviser michael flynn. flynn was the first trump official to plead guilty to lying to the fbi. the newly-filed court documents, federal prosecutors credit flynn with providing them with substantial assistance. they also say he gave them valuable information in other investigations and they added that this cooperation early on prompted others to cooperate. officials from maryland and the district of columbia want a closer look at the president's hotel business, specifically the trump international hotel in washington. representatign governments often stay there when in washington, but the constitution prohibits elected officials from doing business with foreign governments. a watchdog group's lawsuit says

those governments may choose this hotel to curry favor with the president. well, turning now to presidential politics 2020 style. former vice president joe biden says he believes he is the most qualified person in the country to be president. biden made that comment during a book tour stop in montana. he also called president trump, quote, a guy who can't tell the truth. biden says he will decide whether to run for president in the next two months. getting a lot of talk today, democrats in wisconsin are accusing republican state lawmakers of a political power grab. the lawmakers are trying to limit the powers of wisconsin's incoming governor who is a democrat. angry protests have been set off inside wisconsin's state house as abc's mary bruce reports. >> shame! shame! >> reporter: in wisconsin, orr:flding the state capitol accusing

republican lawmakers of overriding the will of voters by trying to strip power from the newly-elected democratic governor. >> and the republicans inside of that building, our capitol, refuse to accept the results of the 2018 elections. >> reporter: democrat tony evers narrowly defeated two-term governor scott walker. >> i'm going to be the next governor of the state of wisconsin. >> reporter: but now before he's even sworn in, the republican-controlled legislature is trying to jam in new measures to limit his authority. it has democrats furious. and republicans defensive. >> we want to ensure that the new administration doesn't try to work around the legislature. >> reporter: a similar story is also playing out in michigan where democrat gretchen whitmer won the governor's race. republicans there are now trying to curtail her power, too. now in wisconsin, democrats are already pledging to fight this in court but republicans are moving ahead with this anyway. governor scott walker says he will support these measures,

their homes. now regulators and lawmakers want to know how all of this happened. a florida family's search for a woman who went missing in costa rica has come to a tragic end. >> yeah, the family of carla stefaniak confirmed that the body found by authorities is indeed the 36-year-old. she went missing during the holiday to celebrate her birthday. investigators say bismarck martinez was arrested because of inconsistencies between his story and surveillance footage. it's sad. a former hotel guest has fired a nine-figure lawsuit against hilton hotels claiming that a hilton employee secretly recorded her taking a shower in her room. >> t wom allegesnly that, but he also tried to blackmail here. here is abc's paula faris. >> reporter: hilton is facing a $100 million lawsuit after a woman claims one of its identified employees filmed her in the shower in order to blackmail and extort her.

the woman whose face abc news is not showing says she was recorded without her consent while taking a shower in hilton's hampton inn and suites in albany, new york back in 2015. in a newly-filed lawsuit the jane doe alleges she did not realize she was recorded until this september when the alleged perpetrator tried extorting her over e-mail. >> all i could think was my life is over. if this gets out, my life is absolutely over. >> reporter: according to the complaint, he even created an e-mail address using her name and sent that shower video to her friends and family. >> it was just absolutely traumatizing because these are people i went to law school with. they're friends. they're co-workers. >> reporter: the hotel tells abc news "the safety and security of our guests is our highest priority. we will continue to work with the authorities to discover the perpetrator and see that she/he is held accountable." >> jane doe also alleging in

action through service. and so many affected by the law signed by president george h.w. bush. >> if there is any president that i want to pay my respects to it's the man who helped pass the law that ensures that i have the same freedoms as everyone else. >> reporter: and maggie and terrell, i want to show you some incredible images that we snapped moments ago. this is the scene outside the capitol right now. thousands of people have been waiting to pay their respects. the line stretches past the supreme court and wraps around a few times in front of the capitol. we've heard people waiting up to four hours. the public has just a few more hours to see the former president lie in state and another image here from longtime bush 41 spokesman jim mcgrath. he tweeted this image of the capitol rotunda. he said when the former president was briefed in 2011 about his funeral and lying in state, the 41st president asked with typical humility, quote, do you think anyone will come? well, we can say tonight for certainty, mr. president, a lot of people came out to pay their respects to you.

maggie? terrell? >> kenneth, those pictures are incredible. thousands of people. >> amazing to see. >> in the middle of the night. we know there is going to be a procession a little bit later on from the capitol to the national cathedral. do we know who is going to be speaking at the funeral service, kenneth? >> reporter: we do. we know there are going to be a list of speakers. quite a ceremony planned where we know james baker, former chief of staff for bush 41, he will deliver one of the eulogies. also, former president george w. bush, he will also eulogize his father. likely he will be speaking as a son and not as a former president when he steps up to that podium. >> kenneth, the images that you just shared with us are so moving. it's amazing, again, to see the thousands of people there in the middle of the night with us right now. obviously impacting us nationally and around the world as well people are paying their respects. kenneth, do we know about foreign dignitaries, who will be attending the funeral service? >> reporter: there will be world leaders, a host of foreign dignitaries to pay their respects to bush 41. we got word that prince charles will be representing her majesty

want to talk about the other news this morning. big story. the asian markets posted losses overnight. follows a sharp plunge on wall street. the selloff came because of confusion about the status of trade negotiations between the u.s. and china, and if there is one thing wall street does not like, it is uncertainty. abc's rebecca jarvis has details. >> reporter: there is confusion on wall street coming out of the g20 summit and president trump's meeting with china's president xi. it sounded from the white house like the prospects of a deal were extremely close on tariffs, but in a series of tweets from president trump suggesting calling himself a "tariff man" and suggesting that his team of economic advisers is working now to see if that deal is actually possible, those prospects are much more muddied and it's a much less clear picture at this point given the mixed signals about what comes next.ha wehilyn veors over the last three months. the question is, how big of an impact will they have on american consumers and

officials say this video shows a washington state woman pushing another woman off a bridge last summer. you see it there. it was shocking when we first saw it. now this video is evidence in a trial of taylor smith which has now been put off until february. the teen who fell says it has already been difficult waiting for her former friend's trial. she suffered severe injuries from the fall. still tough to watch that. >> it is really hard to watch that. cbs may have grounds to deny the $120 million severance to former chief les moonves. >> a report reviewed by "the new york times" says moonves destroyed evidence and misled investigators. he was forced to step down in september after allegations of sexual misconduct. moonves was one of the most powerful men in hollywood and broadcasting for decades.

>> cbs says no findings have been reported to its board and it has reached no conclusions as of yet. his lawyer says moonves denies the allegations and has fully cooperated with the investigation. we've got this video that just came out. it shows former chiefs running back kareem hunt in an altercation at a kansas city club this past january. no charges filed in this case. another man involved in the incident claims he had a broken nose from this. follows another video showing hunt shoving and kicking a woman last february. public records show the nfl didn't publicly request that video until it was posted online. the league insists its investigation began when it learned of the incident, which it says was back in february. well, to california now where many northern california families are suffering after the devastating camp fire. but one family has been especially hit hard. 65 members of the hyatt family lost 15 homes when the fire destroyed the town of paradise.
