of the 41st president of the united states, george herbert walker bush. but, first, locally, we're going to take a live look outside from our sutro tower camera. scattered showers across the area. the camera lens is wet there. thanks for joining us. i'm kristen zse. meteorologist mike nicco has been tracking this. >> a look at what we're going to deal with. for today we've got a one on the storm impact scale with light to moderate showers. not a steady rain, but if you get over a couple of these, the rainfall could add up to .2 of an inch. it will taper this evening. here's a look 24 hours ago of the storm on the left side of your screen. look how farther south and east it is, and that's why we'll see a tapering of the showers as this continues to head south and east away from us. you can still see yellows and greens and the showers are out

george w. bush, as he leads his family at joint base andrews. that's where we're watching this live picture right now. they will board that plane, the presidential aircraft being used by the bush family to go back to houston where they will bury george h.w. bush. president bush holding hands with his wife laura bush there, a large extended family. at the funeral this morning, a very emotional service but also lots of stories of humor were told about our ex-president, george herbert walker bush.

>> george w. bush and laura bush waving before entering the aircraft. again, the family on their way back to houston. the former president, the 41st president will lie in repose at st. martin's episcopal church in houston overnight and then tomorrow the second funeral in houston for family, and then his casket will be transported to the george bush presidential library and museum where he will be buried alongside his beloved wife barbara and also their daughter robin who died at the age of 3. he said he looked forward to joining them in heaven.

that toss conclude our coverage for now of the final farewell for george h.w. bush. abc news will have live coverage in houston tomorrow as it begins at 8:00, 10:30. mr. bush's casket will be transported to the library. at 1:45 mr. bush will be laid to rest in the burial ceremony. all of these events are tomorrow, and we invite you to join us. all right. back here we're going to cover more local news. we do have breaking news in martinez. a heavy police presence at adelaide drive and pacheco boulevard. we've heard there's been an officer-involved shooting. >> reporter: hi, kristen. contra costa sheriff's deputies out here in force. at least a dozen vehicles from that department. this is in martinez but unincorporated so it's a

sheriff's area, jurisdiction that is. i talked with jimmy lee from the sheriff's department. he did confirm that the suspect in this case has died. it is a fatal shooting involving one of their deputies. this happened just after 9:30. we're on pacheco boulevard at at laid drive. according to the department spokesman jimmy lee, there was a deputy or deputies in this area for an unrelated reason, and they spotted this man who was wanted on a warrant on an unrelated case, so this was a short pursuit of him apparently perhaps on foot, according to local business people, and then they heard four to five gunshot, i'm told, by one of the local business people who heard that. at this point we're not getting many more details. we don't know exactly at this point what this case involves, why there was a warrant out for the suspect, kristen, but we do know that it was a fatal officer-involved shooting. the officer, the deputy, we're

told, was unhurt, but the suspect has died. in martinez, laura anthony, abc 7 news. >> laura, thank you. another officer-involved shooting, this one in napa. a police officer there is being treated for minor injuries after a shooting involving an assault suspect. it happened at the kentwood apartments earlier this morning. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live at the scene. >> reporter: hi, kristen. i just got off the phone with the police chief. right now they are saying they got the call as an assault call. they don't know if it was a domestic violence going on, domestic dispute. they are still working to sort out the details. look behind me. they are still investigating the scene. in fact, they just used a 3-d mapping camera over the scene so they could get a good image of their crime scene, and it is a large one because it involved a foot chase. this started just before 2:00 this morning. they say it started at the kentwood apartments in napa. police were called about an assault and told that the man

had a gun. they found him later because he had run away. they found him riding his skateboard. they did end up chasing him. police say they then got into a fight with him and then an officer used his rifle and shot the man who died. we met with residents of the vineyard terrace apartments who heard what happened and talked to police who were on the case. the first woman you'll hear from did not want her face on camera. >> i happened to be awake when the gunshots happened and i heard them very clearly and it was about 2:00 a.m. that was it and everything went quiet and i heard sirens right away and everybody was ready to call the police and that was the end of that, and then at 5:30 they came banging on my door and went banging on everybody's door to ask all the questions. >> just scarey that it's right here, that like that's going o right here, right? right here. so that's -- that's my concern is that this is -- this isn't the first little violent thing

that's happened here. >> yeah. she said there had been a stabbing nearby recently, but police had told people in the area that the public is not at risk in this incident. i just talked to the chief about who this man was. he says he thinks the coroner is pretty close to releasing his identification, but he would tell me he's probably in his 20s and says this man is known to police. they have had dealings with him before. they did put out a statement on their facebook page, on the napa police facebook page saying their thoughts were with the man's family. is will asked the chief one more thing, if this appeared to be a justified officer shooting. he said it's too early to tell. live in napa, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you. also developing right now, san jose police are searching for information after a deadly shooting around 1:00 a.m. sky 7 was on the scene after a man was shot and killed in the area of east virginia and south third streets in san jose. no suspects identified. anybody who may know something

or witnesses the shooting can report anonymously. >> in fremont police are investigating a deadly shooting and crash overnight. one person is dead, and we brought this to you as breaking news earlier this week or this morning. a live report from fremont police headquarters with the latest. amanda? >> reporter: kristen, police confirmed one man has died and another man was later found with gunshot wounds after he fled the scene. it's unclear who fired a weapon, and at this point no arrests have been made. this quiet fremont neighborhood turned into a crime scene overnight. police were called out to torrington near chaucer before 11:20 p.m. neighbors say in the commotion they heard gunshots. >> and then a vehicle drove into a nearby fence. we can't tell if somebody is shot or injured from the crash but says that somebody is injured. >> officers found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the passenger seat of

this car which crashed into a fence along chaucer. the victim later died on scene. evidence of the car crash is easy to see for neighbors inside the home. it was all easy to identify on impact. >> i could heart engine through my wall and that's when i relayed a car ran into my wall. >> reporter: this neighbor didn't want to be identified but she said how what happened at her house. >> the whole house shook and then boom, boom, boom, boom. we could hear four or five shots. >> reporter: police say because of the driver's injuries he lost control of the car, crashed and then took off on foot. he was located just before midnight a short distance away. this is fremont's third homicide this year. police tell us the driver's gunshot wound are non-life-threatening. right now detectives are trying to determine a motive and develop suspect lead. i'm live outside of fremont police headquarters, abc 7 news.

our best radar returns right now around daly, san francisco and heyward and all the way up to vallejo you'll find puddles on the area as showers are engulfing those neighbors. we've got snow up in the sierra right now. not enough that you need chains but plenty to ski on, and it's going to be a gorgeous weekend with a lot of sunshine and mid to upper pos there. see some of the rain on the richmond side of the san rafael

bridge. showers will tape they are afternoon. partly cloudy this afternoon and watch out for fog tomorrow morning during the commute and dry tomorrow through saturday. if you're heading out, most of us in the low to mid-50s right now. let's take a look at what to expect. seeing a little bit of a break in the cloud cover and sunshine and showers. that means rainbow alert, so if you capture, it hashtag it at abc 7 now. we would love to see it. light to moderate showers this afternoon all the way up to 4:00 hand by 8:00 to midnight, they are gone. temperatures low to mid-'s all afternoon. starting to dip into the 40s inland at 8:00 and more of us there by midnight and look how much cooler it's going to be tomorrow morning. mid to upper 30s in the deepest north bay valleys and mid to upper 40s from the south bay, the bay and out towards the coast. here were noon on sunday. we can see rain up around mendecino county. it will stay in the north bay until sock and it will roam across the rest our neighborhoods and by monday afternoon it starts to taper.
