down ba did -- take a look. the side streets were jammed up earlier the truck jackknifed and created a ripple affect through the city. you did speak to drivers, it was very slow going, and i have to say, there were not that many people who were surprised by today's traffic jam. >> it takes me literally an hour to get to the freeway entrance sometimes without traffic. it takes me like 10 minutes. so, yeah, it's insane. >> in san francisco, it's expected now. >> unfortunately our commute to the bay bridge is frequently difficult. today may be extra bad, the drivers i have spoken to are not surprised. they often have to wait in it. you were looking at sky 7 overhead, all of the traffic

mess as we have been reporting in the past few minutes. the traffic is easing up. it seems to have improved in the last 30-45 minutes. that is the good news, give yourself extra time to get to the bridge tonight. >> live, abc 7 news back to you. >> kate, thank you so much. >> sheriff's deputies shot and killed a man because they say, he pulled a gun on them. >> yeah, this went down on adelaide boulevard in marngz. we are live with why deputies were following the guy in the first place. >> well, dan, they were not following him. actually they were here doing something else entirely. and at 9:00, they got done with that around 9:30 and the deputies took off in the different cars and then, one of them spotted this man. a suspect who was wanted from another county on this road. behind me. >> this morning, i had about furor five shots. >> reporter: the sheriff's conif you remember that witnesses

heard a deputy shot and killed a man on adelaide drive in a violent struggle in the middle of the roadway. >> the deputy tried to physically control the individual that was resisting arrest, and ran from the deputy. and reach engine the waist band is a dangerous sign. tried to control him. gave numerous verbal commands to show his hands. when he did, he brought up a firearm and shot at the deputy. sheriff's spokesman said that two deputies were in the area on another matter when when one spotted the suspect who a warrant for evading police and resisting arrest in another county. he said that the suspect, a 41-year-old man from discovery bay had numerous contacts with police, and gang affiliations. >> he has had extensive law enforcement contacts. they include drug possession, multiple accounts of assault with a deadly weapon. possession of -- felon in possession of a firearm.

>> he is a good guy. >> melissa payne told us her sister is the suspect's girlfriend and doesn't buy the sheriff's department claims, that the suspect fired at the sister first. >> of course, they are going to say it, they say it all the time. >> now, just a few minutes ago, the suspect's girlfriend arrived here on the scene, and talked to reporters. she was here when the shooting went down, she tells a very different story. >> he was just running from them, and they shot himment they tackled him to the ground and shot him twice before he got to the ground. they shot him twice, twice, before he turned around. they murdered him. i don't care who has a problem with me saying it. you guys are murderers. you murdered my boyfriend. >> now, jorgenson told us from beginning to end, it was over in

probably less than 2:00. she did say that her boyfriend carried a gun, what she disputes is the deputies, the sheriff's department's version of events that this man actual pulled the gun and fired on the deputy before the deputy fired on him. obviously this is all still under investigation. the deputy is on paid administrative leave. he was not hurt. laura anthony, abc 7 news. >> close to a month after the camp fire for through the town of paradise, those residents will be able to go home and inspect the property. some people were allowed to return this morning and three more zones will open tomorrow. 85 people were killed. and we have learned there's three had more victims identified today. 14,000 homes were destroyed. crews have been working on fixing power lines and clearing roads to make it safe and residents are being warned that the area is still considered hazardous. >> i see you driving at a
