ray taliaferro was a force on the bay area radio airwaves for years. he disappeared and was found dead last weekend. now his son is asking questions and hiring his own private investigator. hello and thank you for joining us. for the first time, the wife of ray taliaferro is respondsing to her husband's death. his body was found in a wooded area in paducah, kentucky last week. he had been missing for weeks. here's the report. >> reporter: since his body was found we've heard from taliaferro's son, police, with you not his wife. she was with him when he

disappeared. tonight we received a exclusive statement from her just as her husband's son told us he's hired a private investigator to look into the case. >> ray tal farrow was last seen at this church in kentucky on november 10th. two teenagers found him dead in a wooded area. no signs of foul play but his son thinks there's more to the story. >> i feel there was foul play bringing his body to that area. >> the husband and wife were checking out this they've hired a private detective to look into the case. charlotte crawford said "we're all so saddened at the loss of my beloved ray and hope that all

his friends and family can coming together." >> he drove away. my father wasn't a driving person. he always took a cab. he might have some colleagues that know what whenever he led in the morning he always took a cab. >> paducah's department, he believes, dropped the ball on his father who was suffering from dementia. >> there could have been other things that cribbed to his depth. family spokesperson for crawford tells me she hopes to have a memorial in san francisco as well. and include his family. reporting in the news room, abc 7 news. allright. shiftingearsnow, new detls t and help for those whose homes were damaged or lost.

the announcement was to scar a rumor that residents would miss out on funds if they weren't inspected by fema. it is the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in history. meantime, fema trailers arrived today in butte county to serve as temporary housing for some of the camp fire ivs. brewries around the country are showing their support for camp fire sciee called resilience ipa. hundreds have signed on. they say brewers wanted to help. >> it's a tragedy what's going on. what has happened down there with the fire.

>> it's amazing what type of call to arms kind of that someone like that comes out and says we need help. >> sales will go to did victims of camp fire. students are planning a walkout for monday. the bay area news group report the teachers are updated with contract negotiations. they plan to walk to city hall where they hope to speak to the mayor. the walkout is not sanctioned by the union. the teachers have been without a contract for about two years now. pg & e is replacing a leaning power pole in pacifica. this shows the crews beginning to repair the pole. it comes after a story.

were in the car. turn your eyes to the night sky to watch a rocket launched from vandenberg air base. here's more. >> reporter: this recent rockets launch cast a bright streak across the bay area sky. the mysterious looking object prompted calls to our newsroom and oakland shabow space and science center. >> they want to know what it is, they don't understand it. they think it's a meetor. >> said to launch, expected to look similar or even brighter but adding to the mystique, it's actually a spy satellite. >> these are satellites with high resolution cameras on them, communicationsing monitor and equipment, so on. they don't tell you a lot about it because it is a secret. another half-hour yet before launch. >> reporter: three rocket

square, a popular spot during santa con. that's usually where all the santas gather. the arrangement works out nicely, they say. >> people have reached out to us over the last five or six years, this is kind of a good gathering appointment for people enjoying the event . it ends up being one of our biggest donor-driven events of the whole season. >> toy drive organizers sad they collect about 150,000 toys. abc 7 news was aquatic part when police officers and others took a quick dip. they call it the plunge for wishes and they braved 59-degree water to raise about 130,000. >> it's a good event.

we get in the water and everybody has a good time and we raise money for the kids to grant those wishes. >> we have a lot of officers here. >> reporter: abc p news reporter served at the m.c. today. some of the people who took a plunge in the bay also calledle the cable car to help the make-a-wish foundation. people across california are hitting the slopes. kirkwood resort opened the entire mountain today, the first tahoe resort to do so. kirkwood has received more than seven feet of snow to date, which means the slopes are open ahead of schedule. since october 1st, the average snowfall has been around four to five feet. talking about snow and other types of precipitation possibly in the forecast.
