santa clara county firefighters are closely monitoring a tesla sedan today to make sure it doesn't self-ignite again, this after the vehicle caught fire twice yesterday after the owner reported a flat tire. thanks for joining us. i'm kristen zse. the car in question is renewing concerns over the battery of the electric vehicle. the model "s" sedan caught fire hen an hour later at a tow yard and that's where aches 7's matt keller joins us with the very latest. matt? >> reporter: kristen, firefighters left the model mi driveway away from the buildings

going on next door. >> reporter: that was his car going up in flames. santa clara foyer put it out and waited for the car to cool and then towed it to campbell and then last night this happened. firefighters propped the car up on blocks for easier put the fire out. >> the technology is such that there's some unknowns to it as far as what we've seen in this case, that chemical chain reaction that's occur, and so we need to maintain that direct contact with them so that we can work through it and, you know, make sure that the public is ultimately safe and the car is in a safe place in the event it does reignite. tesla says they are investigating this incident and are glad to hear that everyone is safe. reporting live other in campbell, matt keller, nbc 7 news. >> matt, thanks so much. developing news from the south bay this morning the search is on for a hit-and-run

driver who injured two pedestrians in san jose. it happened around 6:30 this morning near 33rd street and berrywood drive. one pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries. the other non-life-threatening injuries. a yemeni wife and mother whose 2-year-old son is on life support in oakland is expected to arrive in the bay area tonight. ali hasan's 2-year-old son abdullah has been at ucsf benioff hospital for over a month suffering from a rare brain disease. the family moved to egypt due to the war in yemen. when abdullah's condition got worse, the father and son, who are both american citizens, came to the u.s. seeking better medical treatment. mom's application for a visa was denied though due to the trump administration's travel ban. hasan says his wife has now been granted a spousal honest. i mean, if she wild the father going to take abdullah off life

support last week but decided to try one more time to see if they could get his mother to the u.s. to see her son one final time. in the east bay, the landlord of a ghost ship warhouse is moving ahead with plans to demolish the buildings. attorneys representing the families of the 36 people who died in the fire two years ago are no longer objecting to the building being torn down, but they will like a memorial at the site. the families don't want the building to be sole. during a court hearing yesterday, the will judge said the landlord will have to reapply for a new permit for demolishing the warehouse because they listed the address incorrectly on the first application. san francisco mayor london breed is reportedly asking governor brown to release her brother from prison. according to "the chronicle" breed sent a ltehe governor back in october asking him to consider leniency and commute the prison sentence. napoleon brown is serving 44

years for a manslaughter conviction in the death of a san francisco woman 18 years ago but breed's status as mayor as to whether the letter is an attempt to use her status to influence the governor's decision. developing news, facebook stock is dropping today on a report that it let users read private messages. according to the "new york times" facebook shared data with more than 150 companies on apps on its platform, each if the users enabled no sharing. you should never access people's private messages or ask for the ability to do so. facebook says it never gave access to data without using consent. breaking news, the federal reserve announced minute ago it's raising interest rates for the fourth time this year. a key borrowing rate will increase to the highest level in a decade despite from the trump

wa yteay. we'll dro uer40sn to a cooler morning. mid-to upper 40s with a mixture of clouds and fog out there once again. now, let jump into what's going on. high pressure over us right now. you can see the clockwise flow steering the next storm mainly to the north. the same pattern we had from the week storm last week. remember how it didn't quite bring rain anywhere. here we are at noon and the rain is just moving into eureka. as we get towards 4:00, it's just moving into ukiah, and as we get deeper into the forecast, you can see by 7:00 and into the overnight hours it starts to fall apart and we'll wake up to a little drizzle friday morning and some slickness on the streets, and just a few snow flurries up in tahoe. the best chance of snow in tahoe will be monday when we have a better chance of rain from the afternoon hours to the early evening hours. >> all right. we're ready. thanks, mike. >> listen to this up. a new york city mom is being hailed a hero this morning after fighting off a would-be car

theme. as you can see, someone caught the whole thing on camera. here's more on this footage. >> i'm really not sure exactly what happened, but it happened. >> this is what was happening, and an enraged tahisha pummeling a man 30 years younger than her. why? he was trying to steal her car and she was going to have none of it. >> i had to take matters into my own hands. i saved to get that car myself, i'm a single parent. i saved. >> look at this. >> reporter: the whole incident was captured on cell phone video by a neighbor who heard the commotion on brook avenue this morning. she was about to drive her 5-year-old son to school and used a remote starter to warm up the engine which shouldn't unlock the doors, but somehow the suspect was already in the driver's seat when she approached. jones promptly yanked him out. i couldn't understand anything he was saying to be honest with you. all i just kept hitting him

saying you was trying to steal my car, are you serious? and then he tried to get away and tried to take off his shirt and that's when i sat down on him. >> reporter: finally police arrived, and the suspect was taken into custody. jones suffers from congestive heart failure and still the 19-year-old suspect was no match for her. >> i should have thought it through but i didn't. i just reacted. >> yu prks and they messed with the wrong person for sure. hand here's more of why jones was so frustrated. last week someone broke one of her window, and a week before that somebody stole her rear spoiler. she said she worked hard to get and wanted to keep it. good for her. getting stressed out for the holidays is for the birds, delicious birds.
