this is what it looks like in walnut creek on 680. this will be around the entire morning commute. temperatures in the mid to upper 40s. mainly cloudy at noon. temperatures 56 to 58. may see a little sunshine especially across the south bay by 4:00. 57 to 58. rain starts moving into the north bay. for the rest of us it will come on in in the evening hours. >> really dense fog in a lot of areas this morning. check out the san mateo bridge. folks heading westbound on 92, leaving hayward, heading to foster city. i don't have many incidents to report. but it gives you an idea just what kind of conditions we're driving with today. certainly want to slow down and take it easy. give yourself extra time out the door this morning. 580, tracy to dublin, starting to fill in. in the yale at 33 minutes. dublin to mission boulevard, still in the green at 156789 and northbound 85, 101 to cupertino, you're wide open at 16 minutes.

alexis, thank you. this morning the mother of a dying boy is by his side a after waiting months for a visa. >> her husband has been in the bay area getting medical treatment for their son abdallah who likely only has a few more days to live. they are naturalized u.s. citizens. they flew to the bay area in august to get treatment in oakland. abdallah has a rare brain condition. she is a yemeni national and was not able to get a visa because of president trump's travel ban. a san francisco police officer faces charges in connection with a bank robbery, and it's not the first time he has been in trouble. officers arrested rain daugherty. he is accused of taking $9,000 from the east west bank las lass

week. disciplinary proceedings are still ongoing in the first case. a new judge will preside over the trial for the ghost ship warehouse fire case. trina thompson will likely oversee the case against the defendants derrick almena and max harris. she becomes the fifth judge assigned to the trial. this morning more than a dozen people are starting their day out of their homes after an apartment fire in san francisco. san francisco fire department sent res ccue teams around 5:00 last night. there were reports of people trapped in the building. fire crews say one person was treated for smoke inhalation. that person should be okay. frefighters also rescued a dog from the beginning. developing news out of capitol hill. the house is to take up a bill to avert a partial government shutdown. it comes a day after they approved the stopgap spending

measure. it will be funded through february 9th. it does not include the $5 billion president trump wants for a border wall. president trump hasn't said if he will sign the bill. now to the sudden surprise decision from president trump to withdraw u.s. troops from syria. the president declared in a tweet that isis has been defeated. republican lawmakers and members of the administration, though, disagree. abc news reporter hand ma z hanz details. >> reporter: they are also complaining to vice president pens they feel it is premature and could hand strategic control to russia. >> if this decision is a withdrawal of all of our forces in syria now, we're dramatically less safe. this is an obama-like move >> reporter: the president made the decision to pull all 2,000 troops out within the next 30

light in the night sky. >> i don't know what it was until i started to get pictures in my feed. it appeared just after 5:30 in the evening. a lot of people thought have been a lock elrocket. but that got scrubbed so it couldn't be that. the other tore said it was a meteor, one that can likely fit in your hand. what you saw was the compressed air around it. i have to say i was already saying my good-byes last night. i thought this could be the end. i'm glad i went to disneyland. i was actually good. it is the highest level cloud we have, about 50 miles up. they are called called called cl clouds. 49 in the sunset just to your south. richmond, san leandro, 47.

mid to upper 40s in the east bay valleys. some othe fog starting to yty creep around the bay bridge. this is the western span. looking from south beach. widespread fog. more so than yesterday. we talked about mass transit. misty. some of that fog is juicy. great for being out on the water. the north bay, you're the first to see the rain. we start off with fog and 47 at 8:00. cloudy most so fast day. mid-50s. by 6:00, the rain is starting to roll in. the evening commute a little more dicey. east bay, we have fog all the way up until 10:00. mainly cloudy. temperatures in the upper 50s this afternoon. 53 at 8:00. down in the south bay, it will be dry from 8:00 this morning to 8:00 this evening. but we have the thick fog through at least 10:00. warmer temperatures around 61. you may even see a little sunshine this afternoon. you would be the only ones,

got stuck running from police. it happened near sonoma raceway yesterday. chp said he led officers on a high-speed chase and crashed his car and ran into a marsh. it closed part ofpe highw i wantaf he was pulled from the mud. for now we no longer face a tax on our text messages. it will happen when the legislature reconvenes next month. they scrapped the proposed texting tax earlier this week. texting is information service which can't be taxed. i'm relieved not to have to say texting tax anymore. tomorrow hundreds of box assembled for the children who lost everything in the camp fire

starting to weaken just a little bit. let's focus on today. look at these temperatures. around 56 in antioch. about 62 in san jose. 63, morgan hill. a better chance of seeing sunshine beak through the of gray cldsn the south bay. less of a chance in the north bay. here's a look at don't. leftover showers. even clearing in the north bay. fog will form once again. low to mid-40s. the rest of us in the upper 40s to low 50s. here's a look at the cold front. we are getting the tail end of the storm. watch how it weaken. light to moderate. greens, reds, oranges. north bay at 7:00. same intensity. look at the yellows disappear. look at the green disappear as we head towards 10:00. a chance of scattered showers, mist and drizzle throughout the ovrr rng mme. big story for tomorrow's morning commute. look at the rainfall.

let's take a look at the storm impact scale. rain changing to showers as it moves from north to south across our neighborhoods. the trace in the south bay, parts of the east bay with 3500ths possible in the north bay. thanks, mike. in the east bay, deputies nabbed two men accused of stealing a fiberglass dinosaur from a gas station. the contra costa sheriff's the contra costa sheriff's department showed the large brontosaurus getting nabbed. it is still missing. >> whatever are you doing with that thing? >> savto down a six foot seawall along

aptos. homeowners are suing the county saying is it never recorded an easement, never did any work on the property and never showed interest until now. they say the public has the right to access the pathway. neighbors went the extra mile to get dozens of amazon packages to the right people after finding them abandoned. kim and valerie came across the dumpster in their l.a. neighborhood. a private carrier was responsible for the deliveries, all addressed to homes and businesses? that area. it's up clear why the packages got dumped. the couple contacted amazon, who sent workers to check out the packages yesterday and get it to the right people. >> you are never more than 7 minutes away my accuweather forecast. it's a 1, rain to showers, gusty breezes. that will be the difference between this storm and the one we are dealing with today.

here you can see in the morning hours, rain possible in the north bay up until 7:00. and then not much has changed other than the intensity is a little bit lower. at least with this model. the other model shows quite a bit more rain than this one. north bay looks to be the biggest winner as we head into the evening hours and head towards the silent midnight. it looks like it will all taper. a ex there his. taking a look outside this morning, we have really thi chp did issue a heavy fog advisory along with basically ever other bridge across the bay area this morning. so you can barely make out the tail lights. we can see it a little bit better because it is lit up with the fog warning. still in the green from hayward to foster city. a mass transit note to pass along for today. if you ride san francisco bay ferry alameda/oakland arrivals
