this from a distance, and immediately got to work. they are on a frozen lake. and frozen in this lake is this. >> bear cub? oh, is it a doggy? >> yes, this is a dog. it looks like it might be a saint bernard. it went stray and walked out onto the water. unfortunately it got stuck out there. you can see that maybe the ice around him cracked. and the dog eventually ended up not only getting stuck there, but freezing into the ice. >> it looks like it cracked and refroze, like maybe it was there overnight. when temperatures dropped back down, you're now part of the lake. >> i'm wondering if it went out in the lake looking for something to drink since it's a stray. >> nobody knows how out there, but they got to the dog in time to be able to save it. during the entire rescue, the dog is really calm.
