a thank you for joining us. the search is intensifying for the escaped inmate. police say he walked out and stole a car at a low dal home depot to make his get away. we are live with an update on the manhunt, amy.

>> reporter: hi. no new leads. no sightings. officials say they did find hi jump police are looking for they discovered he was gone during a head count at 9:35 last night. at 9:17 last night a woman said her car was stolen. it is 1.4 miles away from the prison. >> a hispanic male simulated what looked like some type of weapon or again through his t-shirt and demanded the keys from her. threatened to kill her. told her not to call the police or he would shoot her.

once he handed over the keys he fled the scene in her vehicle. the license plate silver toyota. they don't know for sure that he stole the car but the suspect description, timing and location make it seem likely. police canvassed the area to confirm whether it was him. home depot customers reacted to the news. >> that would be really scary. wow. it's close by. >> it is something that is very concerning. it is very uncommon. if it's not relate today the prison it is something we'll take extremely seriously. >> he was serving a five year sentence here. he had been here far year. no word on whether he has any bay area connections. prison official haven't said how he escaped, just that he walked

away from the prison. >> okay. thank you. there is also an all out search happening for this man who police say shot and killed a police corporal in newman. that corporal is now being mourned by his colleagues and the entire community. we are there with more on the search for his killer. >> there is a manhunt taking place after an officer was shot and killed hours after christmas. authorities here in newman, california say they have surveillance video that shows a suspect inside of a local gas station buying two packs of beer and cigarettes. he walks out and gets into a gray dodge ram. they say the shooting took place moments after during a traffic stop. 33-year-old was shot and killed. he was a seven year veteran of the police department here in newman. he was also a husband and father of a five month old

look at that. doesn't that look absolutely gorgeous? a lot of this more than last year. let me show you what's going we don't have anymore snow in the forecast. 29 today. it doesn't get above back to about 42 on wednesday. here is the way it looks back at the golden gate bridge. not too breezy here. not quite as good as it was the last couple of days to walk across the bridge. the breezes will pick up this afternoon. it is always kind of blustery out here. mainly in the 34mid-to upper 50

sunshine with all of that dry air coming in. wind advisory today and tonight. the dry weather that's hitting the sierra envelopes us. it is through at least 4:00 tomorrow morning. ridge tops seeing faster than 50 to 55 miles per hour. make sure all outdoor objects are secure. we are not quite seeing quite the fastest breezes. those will start to come in at 7:00 tonight. we start hitting the 20 to 35 to 35 miles per hour gusts where we are. it continues. 2:30 in the morning. some of the fastest will be in the overnight hours. tomorrow morning we have our east and west bridges getting hit by the northerly breezes. we start to calm down tomorrow

afternoon. it is a 100 miles per hour jet stream keeping our temperatures in the mid-to upper 50s. we will not warm much from where we were right now. we may drop a little bit during the evening hours down into the 48 to 50 degree range. the winds will keep breezes up or the breezes will keep the temperatures up in the 50s overnight in our hills. 40s will dominate most areas. sheltered valleys will be in the 30s once again. here is a look at my forecast. can't find a drop of rain any where. >> yeah. that's because of the fireworks, right? >> absolutely. no clouds whatsoever. no rain. go out and have a great time. >> be careful. >> that north star video was stunning. i loved it. >> didn't it look very inviting?
