fpb ca much calmer. 53 to 55 at 4:00. by 7:00, a few high clouds. 42 to 48 degrees. we'll look at the neighborhoods that are freezing coming up. good morning, mike. oakland, southbound 880, reports of a disabled vehicle right around 5th avenue. i believe chp is there and they are working on clearing that right now. as of a moment ago, we had the left lane blocked. a bit of a backup approaching that scene. overall, we are looking at light traffic. we have had very few incidents so far this morning. our drive time, westbound 80, highway 4 to the maze, 17 minutes. 10 minutes across the bay bridge. san francisco to sfo in the green as well at 10 minutes. we start with breaking news in san jose. a police officer hurt after getting into a crash early this morning at actually and king roads. the officer was put into an ambulance and taken to the hospital. both the the police car and suv involved in that crash were heavily damaged, as you can see. the driver of the suv said he

had a green light and the police car came out of nowhere and smashed into him. police officials say they need to get a statement from the officer still. it doesn't appear his injuries are very serious. also tolls went up by a buck in the new year. >> they will start feeling the price hike as they go back to work maybe. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live near the bay bridge with details. hi, amy. >> reporter: hi. good morning, jessica. yeah, some people are headed back to work. look behind me. i wonder how they are feeling as they approach that toll plaza as they go through it and they pay a little more this morning. it's a rough way to start the day. this increase did start yesterday. of course a lot of people didn't work yesterday. so they are feeling it today for the first time. we have a map to show you where the price has gone up. the golden gate is not on this list. the price varies from bridge to bridge, time of day.

but the regular toll for the bay bridge is now up to $7. we asked people their thoughts on this increase. >> it is paying for traffic, expenses and roads. >> everything is going up. gas. everything. >> reporter: it's not just drivers who are facing a price hike in the new year. people are taking ac transit buses are also paying more, a dollar more. they are crossing the bridge now. it will cost them $5.50. it will pay for service improvements and capital costs. so happy new year, everyone. but don't worry east bay commuters, it looks like the north bay commuters will get theirs. they are talking about increasing the golden gate bridge toll to nearly $10. what comes around, goes around, right? amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> none of us can escape. in today's gma first look, a toddler was rescued after a

victor owe kin dough, a abc news, melbourne, florida. that came just days after this one when a lion fatally ate conservatory in north carolina. she was killed sunday. the lion escaped a locked area while its enclosure was being cleaned. incident was shot and killed. osha is now investigating the center, which has been closed to visitors since the attack. you might remember that deadly tiger attack on christmas day 2007. the animal escaped from its enclosure and killed carlos souza jr. officials killed. tiger tatiana. he and his friends had taunted the tiger. they have since made safety improvements. a police officer and a girl are both injured after a struggle. police say they were called yesterday near sherry way after

the girl threatened to kill her neighbor. police say the girl was physically aggressive towards the responding officer. the officer was treated at a hospital for abrasions to his hand. the girl suffered abrasions to her hand and face. she was taken to juvenile hall. in the east bay, a body found in the livermore landfill will undergo an autopsy today. the sheriff's office is investigating this death as suspicious. a waste management worker discovered that body monday afternoon. investigators say the body had been dumped anywhere from a week to a month ago. they believe the victim was likely in a debris box or road side waste bin on the west side of the county. >> any time you have a body that ends up in a landfill, it is definitely foul play. how this was done was very disturbing. >> the body's decomposition may have camouflaged any apparent signs of trauma or injury. investigators hope today's autopsy will help identify the victim. happening today, the man accused of killing a central valley police corporal is due to

ukiah. 55 to 59 is our spread. widespread chance of freezing cold temperatures in the north bay valleys, east bay valleys, and morgan hill. 40s fremont to redwood stay. oakland, richmond, san francisco, half moon bay mild in the low to mid-40s. now to saturday. miles are picking up on this being the stronger of the series of storms. we may get hit with the hardest punch first. an inch of rain. maybe more in the north bay. downpours, lightning, thunderstorms are possible. wind gusts 30 to 50 miles per hour. showers and breezy conditions for sunday and monday. so all of those activities revolving around the college football playoff championship, oh, may hope the south bay gets a little of that rain shadow and doesn't get as much rain as everybody else. i have an update on our slowdown in san francisco. we did get to the bottom of that.

you can see the damage done to the san jose police vehicle. the officer had to be loaded onto a backboard by paramedics. he was taken to the hospital. the sergeant did not have an update on his condition, but said his injuries did not appear to be too serious. it happened at 2:00 this morning, actually and king. they did not have any details on what led up to the crash. the driver in the honda suv claimed he had a green light and the police car came out of nowhere and smashed into him. there were multiple people in the suv. they said minor injuries but did not want to be taken to the hospital. police say they are waiting to talk to the officer and get his statement on what exactly happened this morning. matt keller, abc 7 news. matt, thank you. a flight from san francisco to chicago made an emergency landing because of a problem with the plane's landing gear. united says no one was hurt. the plane was headed to o'hare and landed there safely late last night. passengers were helped off the plane, then loaded onto a bus and taken to the terminal.

now to developing news, san jose mayor waking up in the hospital this morning. a car hit him as he was riding his bike. he suffered broken bones while riding his bike at salt lake drive, mabury road. a neighbor came out to help and she said she didn't realize it was the mayor on the ground. >> wrapped up his arm because that was bleeding quite a bit. i knew he had to be in a lot of pain. but he just kept thanking us and thanking us. and i thought, you know, that's very, very nice and sweet. >> the driver said he just didn't see the mayor. he is expected to remain in the hospital a day or two. in a statement he thanked linda and the paramedics for helping him out. >> there are signs of possible progress to end the government shutdown. >> the president invited nancy

formed over women's rights to visit a hindu temple. women 10 to 50 were banned until the top court overturned the ban in september. but conservatives have blocked or even attacked women trying to enter the shrine. first responders pulling out a baby from the rubble of a collapsed building in freezing temperatures. here's a look. it happened in russia yesterday morning. the 11-month-old boy had been trapped in the rubble for 35 hours an explosion by a possible gas leak. at least nine neighbors died. temperatures dipped to negative 4 degrees as rescuers were looking for survivors. the baby is in extremely serious condition. okay. now on to better news. the first baby born in the bay area this year came into the world 12:25 a.m. new year's day. >> and she is the youngest of 10

kids. so she has lots of brothers and sisters. mom said this child will be her last. baby keani was the first born so she was given celebrity status in the hospital. she was surrounded by family and the press. also the biggest bear in the baby ward. but the little one slept through it all. it's a great sign considering she's healthy and amazing. but i think she's my last one. she decided to come out with a big presentation. >> mom says she came into the hospital around 8:00 monday and was induced about 11:00 a.m. she had to wait another 13 hours before giving birth. mom and baby are doing great. congratulations to that family. steph curry is throwing a party, and you're invited. >> it's going to be an amazing celebration for the city of
