>> reporter: hi, jessica. good morning. the toll plaza has gone up. the price to take the bus has gone up. look at these people here. there are more people here this morning for sure. they are paying the toll. today is probably their first time to pay it because they didn't have to work yesterday. here's a look at the bridges where the toll did go up. state-owned bridges now cost another dollar to cost. the cost varies from time of day. $5 during noncommute times. now take a look at the price to find the bus. a.c. transit, $5.50, more than the bay bridge toll during noncommute hours. the hope is that these price increases, surprises are going to go down. that will make -- prices will go up, so traffic will go down. the plan is that all of this money will pay for improvements that will help ease congestion.

reporting live from the bay bridge, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thanks, amy. the man accused of killing a central valley police corporal is due to make his first court appearance. he was arrested friday near bakersfield. he shot and killed ronil singh last wednesday. authorities charged four men accused of helping him avoid arrests. and they have pleaded not guilty. in the north bay, a santa rosa police officer and a girl are both injured after a struggle. police say they were called out yesterday to near sherry way after the girl threatened to kill her neighbor. the girl was physically aggressive towards the responding officer and the officer was then treated at a hospital for cuts to his hand. the girl says suffered cuts to her hand and face. she was taken to juvenile hall. a little girl is recovering after falling into a rhino

the 2-year-old stumbled, fell and slipped through steel poles at the brevard zoo in melbourne. she was participating in a popular educational exhibit allows guests to touch the rhinos. she was airlifted as a trauma alert. the mother was also taken to the hospital with an injury to her arm. the toddler's injuries are unclear. the rhino's snout did make contact with the girl. >> what you are met with is frantic parents, severely injured child. controlled chaos. >> florida fish and wildlife officials are investigating. the zoo says it has run that exhibit since 2009 without any problems until now. >> how bad are they hurt? >> incapacitated. attack in nor carolina. 22-year-old alexandra black was killed when a lion escaped a locked enclosure.

highway 4 to the maze, still in the green at 21 minutes. thank you, alexis. breaking news in the south bay. a san jose police officer was taken to the hospital after an early morning crash. >> it involved one other vehicle at actually and king roads. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live in san jose with the latest. matt? reggie, traffic is moving well in all directions at actually and king roads. son jose police department was of able to clean up the area. the tow trucks were able to remove both from the scene. pretty dramatic video. damage done to the police vehicle. the officer had to be loaded onto the backboard by paramedics. the sergeant on the scene did not have an update on the condition but said injuries did condition but said injuries did not appear to be too serious.

the driver of the suv claimed he had a green light and the police car came out of nowhere and smashed into him. there were multiple people in the suv. they had minor injuries but did not want to be taken to the hospital. a spokesperson just got back at us about 10 minutes ago. and he said he's checking into it. he will provide an update as soon as he can. matt keller, abc 7 news. matt, thank you. mayor sam licardo waking up in the hospital. a car hit him as he was riding his bike. he suffered broken bones after a driver hit him yesterday. a neighbor heard the crash and came out to help. >> we wrapped up his arm because that was bleeding quite a bit. i know he had to be in a lot of pain, but he just kept thanking us and thanking us. and i thought, you know, that's very, very nice and sweet. >> the driver said that he just

didn't see the mayor. mayor was taken to san jose regional medical center, where he is expected to remain for a day or two. in a statement he thanked linda, the the woman you just heard from, and the paramedics for helping him out. in the east pwhaeu, a 6-year-old girl is recovering after being struck in the head by a flying bullet on new year's eve. the girl's family was in the backyard of their home on thermal street. they were watching fireworks when a bullet hit the girl just when a bullet hit the girl just after midnight. the police chief visited the girl and had a strong message for the new year. put the guns down. it is foolishness. it is unnecessary. and in this case quite an incident child was affected and harmed by this foolishness. >> the little girl is currently

at ucsf benioff children's hospital in oakland. a man was arrested accused of sexually assaulting an elderly person. investigators released these of the suspect. he attacked an elderly victim monday afternoon on pacific avenue near stockton street. an officer spotted the suspect in the tenderloin and arrested him late last night stkphraofplt developing news out of washington, d.c. there are some signs of possible progress to the end of the partial government shutdown. it is now in its second week. the president has asked for nancy pelosi and chuck schumer to the white house today. sarah sanders saying they're being invited for a border security briefing from senior department of homland officials. president trump tweeted directly

earlier trouble spot this morning. san francisco, westbound 80, at the 101 merge. a disabled vehicle slowed things down across the bay bridge. it has recovered. things are looking good there. a few of our other bridges still in the green. richmond san rafael, 7 minutes. san mateo, 16. 10 minutes across the dumbarton bridge. overall, uber employees seem happy with their employer. but they do want better pay. beside insider reported leaked answers from the latest employee poll. it shows 83% believe uber is in a position to succeed over the next two years. 62% have seen positive culture change take place in the last six months. 40% believe their total compensation is fair relative to similar roles the a a other companies. uber is based in san francisco. a new oreo flavor is hitting shelves today. it has dark chocolate cream filling. buff the gray part about this is
