it's a historic day in d.c. you're looking live at the convening of the 116th congress this morning. it's the most diverse group of lawmakers ever in our nation's capital. we are expected to have a live report when nancy pelosi is expected to be sworn in as speaker of the house. thanks for joining us. today democrats officially took control of the house and pelosi is expected to regain the gavel after all of the votes are finalized. her first major challenge is

pizza restaurant no reports of any injuries. we have word that nancy pelosi has regained the gavel. let's take a look at the live picture. you can see everybody is gathered after she secured 220 votes. there were a few defections but that is enough to restore her to house speaker, a position she first claimed in 2007 of course after the democrats lost the majority she became minority leader. once again with the midterm elections done nancy pelosi once again speaker of the house. san francisco walking a fine line balancing how to restore public confidence. balancing some push to perceive with impeachment of president trump and investigations and other democrats say that is not the key to victory in 2020.
