holidays and thought there were fewer employees, you weren't mistaken. >> bart is investigating after a rash of sick calls left stations severely understaffed. christmas eve, 37% of staff called out. christmas day, 43%. amy? >> reporter: we are finding a lot of sympathy among passengers for workers who are assigned to work on christmas eve and on christmas. according to the san francisco chronicle, a third of parking lot employees called in sick on christmas eve. that includes station agents and train operators. it cost bart 406 hours in overtime. bart pol many had to handle closing duties at stations. one bart director told the paper this is concerning focusing on public safety. but parking lot riders tell us

released a statement and it says the president praised officer singh's service to his fellow citizens, offered condolences and commended law enforcement's rapid investigation, response, and apprehension of the suspect. a little girl hit in the head by celebratory gunfire on new year's eve is improving. officials with the ucsf benioff children's hospital oakland say they are very encouraged after the 6-year-old said a few words to her parents yesterday morning. as we first reported on tuesday, the bullet cannot be removed from her skull. because of that, police won't be able to do a ballistics test in order to match the bullet to a gun. that will make it quite difficult to solving the case. the results are in following the state's first snow survey of the year. of some are encouraged because of the early storms of november and december. state water officials found water content is below average and the snowpack is just 67% of normal. it is an improvement over last year. california's rainy season typically lasts through march.
