the wind gusts at the lower elevations. 60 plus at the higher elevations. here's a look at the timing. tonight around midnight, the main band arrives early tomorrow morning. 5:30 knocking at the door and it starts to shift inland at 7:00 a.m. pockets of heavy rainfall and can't rule out a possibility of thunder. a wind advisory covers all of the bay area. 4:00 to 4:00 p.m. gusty winds could take down power outages and trees. 7:00 to 7:00 p.m. as i mentioned, this is just the beginning in the series of storms. i will be back with a closer look at the timeline. >> thank you fortunately the fact that we had no storms since before christmas has given public works crews time to clean out trouble spots. one of the areas is in the shadows. this is a live picture already

looking quite dark there. lots of water is expected to run off the hillsides in the coming days. melanie joins us live from san francisco with a look at the preparations now under way. melanie. >> absolutely. storm drains and catch basins could be an issue. i want to show you one that hasn't been cleaned up yet. leaves, debris, garbage and bottle caps. this could be a real issue overnight when the rain starts. still officials in san francisco are getting ready. san francisco public utilities commission employees spent the afternoon cleaning catch basins ahead of the rain event. they warn do not dump garbage. subject to arrest and fines up to $1,000. they are giving away sandbags that are available for pick up 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. monday

in six years and netflix rose 10%. the dow closed up almost 750 points. nasdaq gained 275. >> bart management is responding to a round of sick calls by more than a 30 of workers. the chronicle said bart police officers had to cover for the missing workers. five stations didn't have agents and bart police had to step in. one director said she would much rather see police focusing on public safety. steve blazer agrees, but said bart needs to manage the staff so this doesn't happen again. >> central issue is safety. safety for the traveling public. those station agents are the eyes and ears for the safety of the passengers. >> the bart union president said workers are under stress because of the shortage of police officers and they need personal help days.

county and the hills above 3500 feet. don't be surprised to see a few snow flakes and the showers wind down. the next storm comes in sunday morning in the north bay and starts to spread rain by the afternoon across the rest of the bay area. there will be windows where you actually can get out saturday night to sunday morning and sunday afternoon and evening, widespread rain with the second storm. monday morning's commute as many of you head back to work and school will be a little bit on the wet side. 5:00 to 8:00 a.m. light and scattered in nature. i will take you through a couple of storms and looking like a 1-2.5 inch total. better locations i s say up to three inches of rain. in the sierra, it turns to snow. 4:00 a.m. on monday. up to 50 inches over the highest peaks. the warning is up to 4,000. tough to travel.
