hour and a half ago and clem tonto clemson's tigers just touched down. david louie with our coverage. >> it is a journey out here that both teams hope will carry them to a national championship monday night. behind me here is the plane that brought the clemson team here about an hour ago. the alabama team is right behind them and should be landing momentarily. we are very excited because this will be an exciting event coming up on monday. a chartered plane with the clemson university tigers made it first, landing at 4:20 in san jose. a group of football players from theson mateo lyons were on hand to greet them as they headed to five waiting buses. sky 7 was overhead as the alabama crimson tide touched down just before 6:00 with another large contingent. three airlines added extra

non-stop service to transport fans of the two college powerhouse teams to the san francisco airports. the flights had a capacity of 3,000 passengers. >> it is a long way to come for a game? >> it is a long way for both teams, coming from south carolina or alabama, it is a long trip. i hope everybody has a great time. >> reporter: those on regular commercial flights found alabama and clemson fans commingling. >> anybody from clemson on your flight? >> it was about 50/50, coming from atlanta. >> reporter: were you civilized to each other? >> oh, yeah. >> yeah, maybe. >> reporter: it is an expensive trip for the fans but regrets, t their teams. >> you know, airline, hotel and everything, several thousand for sure. >> reporter: is it worth it? >> absolutely. i'm all in. >> reporter: an alabama fan brought $26 to spend but paid $17 for a bloody mary while changing planes in los angeles. there's a bargain to be had for bay area fans. tickets for monday's game on the

"abc 7 news" reporter lyanne melendez met with the local trainer that made a big difference in this guy's life. >> reporter: it was while playing for antioch high school -- >> this is najee. >> reporter: that he weight trained with marcus malou of antioch. >> we ended up clicking. i said, what do you want to do? he said, i heard you're a trainer and i said, well, we can work so we started working. >> reporter: harris was raised b his mother. at times they were homeless, but malew says his focus was always on the game. >> that's why people in the bay area fell in love with him, because he didn't let his circumstance dictate where he was going to go in life. >> as great as he is as a player, an even better human being. >> reporter: his senior year harris was considered the nation's top recruit, selecting alabama. so what is it about alabama football and all of the enthusiasm that people in the bay area simply don't get? hmm. i went to alabama. huh.

time, 5:00 p.m., is for a slight chance of some light showers. temperature about 58 degrees, but, again, it is a close call. we expect the rain right now, based on what we're looking at on our observations, to end by afternoon. we will keep watching it for you. dan. >> okay. spencer, thanks so much. you can check the weather conditions in your area any time using the "abc 7 news" app. it features live doppler 7 and the ability to customize the forecast right where you live. new at 6:00, sky 7 was over the scene of a train that collided with a big rig near the port of oakland. it happened about an hour ago on middle harbor road. no one was hurt. the train wasn't carrying any cargo when the crash happened. it is not clear how long it will take for crews to clear the truck off the tracks. the cause is under investigation. ief company and the utility's reportedly looking to sell its natural gas division. according to national public radio, proceeds would be used to set up a fund to pay billions of dollars in potential claims. state fire investigators blame pg&e for causing some of the

north bay fires in 2017. the utility issued a statement to "abc 7 news" saying its board is reviewing structural options to best position pg&e to implement necessary changes while meeting customer and operational needs. it said safety will continue to be its top priority. we are getting a look tonight at graphic footage from a security camera showing an attack on a security guard in san francisco, and it comes as the suspect in the case was in court looking for bail. >> this video obtained by "abc 7 news" shows a violent attack on a security guard in san francisco last november by a group of skateboarders. the victim, dan jansen, is still in the hospital, not speaking or recognizing his family. >> this shouldn't happen to anne jthodn'tap to anyone. >> jansen's family was at san francisco's hall of justice today where a suspect in the attack was seeking release on bail. they alerted "abc 7 news" to the video captured by a security camera near the old bank of america building. first, jansen begins moving

barriers into place to keep the group from skateboarding on the premises. one skateboarder can be see moving a barrier moments after jansen walks away. then a short time later jansen can be seen approaching another member of the group when an altercation starts. within moments he is surrounded and hits the ground from an apparent blow. next, he is seen lying motionless on the ground. >> so this -- this one lone man was simply moving a gate and he was swarmed, literally attacked. >> 24-year-old skateboarder jessie vierra, is the lone suspect in cuss doddy at this point and was seeking bail for the second time. supporters from both sides packed the courtroom. >> and i understand that they want their friend out of custody, but at the same time he picked up a deadly weapon, he hit a 57-year-old man in the head and danny's missing part of his skull, part of his brain was removed. his family doesn't know him. >> after reviewing the evidence,

the judge in the case denied vierra bail. the suspect is due back in court next month. new developments in an attack on a jogger at anthony chabot regional park yesterday. the suspect in custody is identified as a 19-year old from oakland. officials say the jogger defended herself with pepper spray with the suspect's dog attacked her, bit the victim causing significant wounds. tomorrow the funeral will be held for newman corporal singh who died in the line of duty. newman is about 100 miles from the bay area between san jose and merced. "abc 7 news" reporter leslie brinkley found an entire community in mourning. >> reporter: corporal singh, ronil singh, a popular 33-year-old canine officer in newman for seven years, gunned down on december 26th during a dui stop. photos and flowers line the

"abc 7 news" reporter katie utehs is live in oakland with a preview of what is happening tonight. hi, katie. >> reporter: hi, ama. it is feeling festive out there and, yes, those fans have been in line here for hours as well. let me step out of the bay and show you all the way from the fox theater around the block. some folks skipped school, others skipped work today. the tickets say first come, first served, so people are nervous about getting in. they got in line early. tonight stephan curry and friends convenient is hosted by under armour and will feature musical artists like mr. fab and e40. the event has been billed as a celebration of curry's ten years in oakland and the warrior's last season here before moving into their new arena in san francisco. it is also the debut party for curry's latest under armour shoe release, the curry six. now, there has been confusion this week as to whether the tickets were free or you had to buy curry merchandise to get tickets. some people in line told us they purchased merch at the pop-up

"abc 7 news" reporter melanie woodrow has a look. >> reporter: despite a sign next to a catch basin in the bay view warning "do not dump garbage, violators subject to arrest and fines up to $1,000," crews still had plenty to clean up today. san francisco public utilities commission employees spent the afternoon cleaning catch basins ahead of saturday's rain event. the san francisco department of public works is also prepared. they're giving away sandbags. the sandbags are available for pick up 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. monday through saturday at marin and kansas streets. these bags are free for san francisco residents. you can pick up as many as ten. public works is prepared for high winds. >> we have tree crews on stand by. we know when there's water on the ground and high winds that

locations as well. oakland, mountain view, san jose, morgan hill and half moon bay. here is the view looking along the bay bridge looking westward. 48 in santa rosa. notice it is cooler in the north bay. 46 in napa. in parts of the east bay, too, it is down to 40 at fair of and 45 at livermore. now we go to one more live view from the roof top camera at abc 7 looking back at embarcadero center. we have two storms coming this weekend, both moderate storms. a winter storm warning in effect for the sierra and this wet pattern will continue well into next week. each of the approaching storms ranks two on the storm impact scale. so tomorrow through sunday and actually into monday we expect about one to three inches of rain generally in the north bay and in the coastal ranges. about three-quarters of an inch to an inch and a half in other regions of the bay area. gusts up to 45 miles per hour and stronger guests in higher elevation goes. starting at midnight tonight, notice we will get a wave of moderate to heavy rain surging on shore.
