the woods. a 1 on the storm impact scale. a chance of thunderstorms. windy this morning. but breezy this afternoon. so the winds will taper at 10:00. here's the latest on the wind advisory. another tree or two could topple. we've seen it happen and the winds are whipping up waves also. breakers up to 24 feet through 9:00 tonight. the richmond side of the richmond-san rafael bridge. plenty of moisture on the ground and more possible through at least 6:00. it tapers this evening. let's get alexis in here. busy morning. >> it sure has. we're tracking a serious situation in the south bay. we've got a deadly rollover crash that happened at 3:45 this morning. sky 7 over the scene right now. you can see the box truck is still on its side. they've got a lot of cleanup work to do and investigation is under way too. a huge emergency response. one lane slowly that far left lane, they reopened that 30 minutes ago. we've got miles of backup. that is well south of the 280/680 split at 3.5, 4 miles.

you want to avoid it. i'll quickly flip over and show thu on our traffic maps, too. unfortunately, we've got red on both of the alternates as well. northbound 680, a crash near berryessa and northbound 280, a crash near 11th. we're hoping to get most of them cleared shortly. right now, we want to check in with amy hollyfield at the scene near mckee road on 101. any progress on getting this cleaned up? >> reporter: not a lot of progress to report, alexis, i'm sorry to say. they're still working behind me on recovering the victim who was killed in this accident. they are nowhere near getting this cleared out of here or opening these lanes. authorities say there were two people inside this delivery truck. the driver survived and was taken to the hosit mor buno-teaning fl leep.he drir d of m that's why they crashed. the passenger was killed in this accident. i want to show you right now

train near the west oakland station. it took place two years ago today. surveillance video shows the man suspected of killing 19-year-old carlos romero of antioch. this investigation revealed many security cameras on board b.a.r.t. trains were actually deco decoys. after the shooting, b.a.r.t. purchased 470 operational cameras. the alameda county sheriff's office needs your help to locate a man who investigators say violently attacked a woman. authorities say 49-year-old douglas allen pruitt of hayward attacked the victim in a neighborhood of the city. pruitt is considered armed and dangerous and has connections with white supremacist and outlaw motorcycle groups. investigators say pruitt is on the run from law enforcement. he's known to frequent hayward, castro valley, fremont. his car is a white 1989 chevrolet camaro rs. now we have breaking news. the deputy attorney general rod rosenstein is expected to leave

we've been keeping track of this one for you since we went on the air at 4:30 today. we've got a major problem. fatality investigation. collision on northbound 101 just before you get to mckee road. major sig alert remains. we only have the far left lane getting by. you can see the backup on northbound 101 as it continues to grow. that is one of many problems in the south bay. northbound 680 before berryessa road. we had a crash that was a three-vehicle collision. that's one of the main alternates. the other alternate north on 280 up to 87 to reconnect with 101. >> it was sort of hanging on by the two back wheels there. that did just clear from the

incident boa28 southth. at least that's clear. a to a look at that one. highway 17. a little bit of improvement in the santa cruz mountains. we had a small slide. a tree down in the roadway past idyllwild. unfortunately, a van hit the tree and we had a full closure on the southbound side of the roadway for an hour. they were able to reopen one lane and sky 7 on the way to that scene. as soon as we get there, we'll take a live look at what's going on in the cleanup efforts. let's move over and check in with mike nicco for a look at weather. >> i wanted to show you the napa valley where we have a light to mad rat shower moving through. it is moving southwest to northeast. it should exit in about 15, 20 minutes or so. for the rest of us, still damp with scattered showers. 55 to 58 degrees around san francisco. 54 to about 58 in all of the other neighborhoods also.

skier before hoisting him into the helicopter. the group called for help because the was struggling witha weak knee. a vacaville man won $10 million from a lottery scratcher. he nearly missed out on the prize after police say his roommate stole the winning ticket. the man bought the ticket before christmas and told his roommate this was a winner. that was the first mistake. then officials told him it was a fake. one of his roommates goes to the same store, purchases the same ticket later alters his losing ticket to match the winning ticket. >> police say the roommate swapped the altered ticket for the real one. they arrested the suspected thief when he tried to cash in the real winning ticket. here's the great part about this. the actual winner later discovered that the prize wasn't $10,000. like he previously thought.

scale. here's a look at the wind advisory. until 10:00, another tree or two could come down as the winds gust to 50 miles per hour. driving on the east-west bridges, it's been difficult. 24-foot waves at the coast. quick look at the 24-hour planner. you have to wait until this evening for the rain to stop. enjoy the mild temperatures, though. here's alexis. good morning, mike. let's go live to sky 7 over that deadly crash that happened around 3:45 this morning. a box truck flipped over on northbound 101 before you get to mckee road. that is still on its side. one eaperson in that vehicle wa killed. another had serious injuries. as we pan back from sky 7, you can see that sea of headlights coming towards us. that is a major delay that's developed because of this. only one lane is open. been that way since 5:30. we had a full closure for an hour and a half before that. so just not a great situation. i quickly wanted to flip over to the traffic maps and show you alternates. northbound 680, another major

crash at berryessa at 11th. a crash just cleared. all those are really congested. i recommend bta or delaying your trip. let's get back to the scene. amy hollyfield is live for us in san jose. amy, it doesn't look like a whole lot as changed in the last 30 minutes. >> reporter: hi, alexis. this truck is still here. it's still on its side. but they are about to move the tow truck into place to flip it upright and then haul it out of here. so they are saying possibly they'll have everything cleared out of here in an hour, by 7:30. that's a rough estimate. maybe some hopeful thinking. that's what they're shooting for right now. what we know is that two people were inside this truck when it crashed. the driver told the chp he thinks he probably fell asleep. he was taken to the hospital with major injuries but is expected to survive. his passenger was killed. the chp tells us that tired drivers, that's one of the biggest, most dangerous issues that.

we encourage people if they're feeling tired to not continue their journey. pull over and take a nap, take a rest. don't rely on energy drinks to keep you awake. those won't be effective. the best remedy for feeling tired on the road is to take a nap. >> reporter: here is the traffic situation right now. one lane is open on northbound highway 101 in san jose. this is the situation and has been since 3:45 this morning. so we're looking at almost three hours the situation has been like this. there's quite a backup that's accumulated during the commute this morning. it's an area to avoid if you can. again, they're hoping to get this all opened up within an hour. reporting live in san jose, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. amy, thank you. in the south bay, we're getting a first look at some of the damage overnight left from the storms.

this is in san jose. check out this tree. it nearly missed a house on taylor street near north 15th street. the large tree will need to be cut up and hauled away. no word on any possible injuries. also want to show you this. los altos hills. a tree came crashing down on a van overnight. it appears the tree hit a covered boat or travel trailer. this is outside a home on bird lane. santa clara county firefighters responded to a scene this morning at 12:30. we're waiting to hear back on possible injuries there. the weather likely played a role on this mess in san rafael. a fire broke out when power lines came down after a huge tree fell on them yesterday at meyer road and southern heights boulevard. the tree missed people, cars and houses. but it did knock out power to a dozen homes. you can always track the weather where you live on our abc 7 news app. we have live doppler 7 on that app and you can enable push alerts to get the latest weather advisories on your phone or tablet. in the east bay today, oakland police are set to

announce a significant development in the search for the driver who hit a teenager riding a bike. the 14-year-old was dragged for several blocks last wednesday. a witness captured i mages of to suspects in their car. the 14-year-old remains in critical condition. police may be zeroing in on a suspect who murdered a 17-year-old boy from redwood city. muhammad othman was a varsity football player. he was found shot to death. s.w.a.t. team and police drones surrounded a pleasanton home in connection with the case. sky map 7 shows the scene at amber lane and blossom court. you can see the scene as it unfolded. a source tells us there may be multiple suspects. neighbors tell us the family living in the home is relatively new to the community and moved there from belmont. >> they used the loud speaker to call the three suspect or whoever out, the neighbors.

>> nobody as arrested at the home. belmont police say the victim and suspect knew each other and the shooting was not random. as we head into day 19 of the government shutdown, both sides of the stalemate are still far apart. >> president trump spoke directly to the american people last night saying the federal government remains shutdown for one reason. serena marshall joins us live from washington to break it all down for us. >> reggie, jessica, the address made everything evident, that the sides are still far apart. they haven't moved any closer and no signs that they're starting to. it's not something the president has done before. >> my fellow americans -- >> sitting in the oval office, speaking directly to the american public hoping to sway mind that the government should stay shut down until hisorr wall is . >> this is aead cs of the soul. >> he didn't go so far as to declare a national emergency.
