it's been 108 days. a cause has not been identified. experts are looking at access holes cut go the girders after the beam was rewelded together. officials also say the inspection process did not catch the cracked beams. materials for repairs have been ordered. once they arrive, they will have a better idea of how long the repairs will take. the california department of justice is attempting to block the sale of two financially struggling hospitals in santa clara county. the county is ready to spend $235 million to save o'connor hospital in san jose and st. louise regional hospital in gilroy. officials say it's a small price to pay to relieve overcrowding and expand the public system's reach. the plans were recently put on life support, though, as california's attorney general filed a stay on the hospital sales. the move was a surprise to santa clara county executive jeff smith. >> essentially, they are trying

to accomplish something legally, but they're going to end up closing two hospitals. >> in a statement to abc 7 news, the ag's office says california's doj is, quote, committed to advocating for conditions that in communities have access to health care services. santa clara county not agreed to some conditions as part of the sale, including 24-hour emergency rooms and operating rooms. you're never more than seven minutes away from from. so far we don't need the umbrella. 50 around pleasant hill and lafayette. everybody else in our east bay valleys. still a touch of fog hanging around in the mid to upper 40s. same temperatures in the pay shore into the south bay and up into the north bay. fairfield, vallejo, novato and san francisco a little milder. walnut creek south on 680, you can see some fog out there right now. it's not widespread enough for a

dense fog advisory. nor is it going to hang around centered on when the rain comes in, like the evening commute. we have the best chance of driving on slick streets. we have a small craft advisory shout of the bay bridge today. it's going to be breezy and choppy there. east bay, let's time it out. pretty dry up until noon. there could be a random shower. our best chance of rain is 2:00. especially 6:00 and 8:00. in the north bay, we start a little quicker. a random shower at 8:00. look at 10:00. scattered showers and then from noon on, we have a better chance of steady rain. cooler temperatures there. mid-50s. and in san francisco, any time around 8:00 on, we have a chance of scattered showers that will become steadier by 4:00 with temperatures, look at that, climbing into the upper 50s this afternoon. getting off to a quiet start weatherwise this morning. how about traffic? >> it's friday. nobody works on friday, mike. especially at 4:36. except us. >> we're the only ones.

the news gets better. we're up to 90% of average. while it's quiet right now, you can see from heavenly, let me show you sunday night. that's when the light snow begins. light to moderate monday, tuesday, wednesday and then heavy snow for thursday. we may even be above afshlg ver the end of next week. a loud boom captured the attention of people in the south bay. it happened yesterday at 3:30. >> as soon as i get up to the door, a boom is shaking the door and the windows and everything. i'm like, wow, it sound like a sonic boom. >> others heard the loud boom as far south as gilroy and as far north as the hillsdale shopping center in san mateo. nobody reported anything significant. that mysterious boom is still a mystery. google and its parent company alphabet has been sued with the sole purpose of changing the culture there. the giant tech company has been

marred by claims of sexual harassment and yesterday a stockholder filed what is called a derivative suit on behalf of other shareholders. reporter lyanne melendez has more on what it all means. >> a derivative lawsuit brought forward by a stockholder claims that the many sexual harassment alss against google harmed the tech company's reputation affecting the price of the stock. the claim says the board, including the two google founders, covered up all of these cases. the attorneys representing this stockholder who goes by james martin, presented their strongest tool against google. >> we have gone and obtained the minutes from the google shareholder meetings. we got them. we reviewed them. >> they include discussions about allegations made against andy rueben, a senior executive accused of sexual harassment, yet google gave him an $90

80, 50 or 88, if you're flying should be no issues. i can't wait to see their reports. san rafael, a little bit of fog lingering. that's quickly erasing from the sky as the next system rolls in. it will build some breeze ds and showers today. showers taper tonight but we've got plenty of rain in the extended forecast. highs today, comfortable. mid to upper 50s in the north bay where the rain will settle first. the rest of us in the upper 50s to low 60s. tonight, another semi mild night. we should be in the 30s and 40s this time of year. in the mid-40s to 50 with scattered showers. here's a look at the storm track. you can see two distinct storms there. one comes in today, lingers through tomorrow. the other one comes in sunday and monday. there's even more if you go back towards china and japan just waiting to come and bring us some rain. our best chance of thunderstorms today, you can see are pretty much north of los angeles up to the big sur coast. here at 7:00, a few random sprinkles possible.

we were socked in. today, that is not the case. we're not seeing any delays on the southbound side of 101 either. in fact, checking that drive time getting into san francisco from san rafael, that is in the green. should take you about 16 minutes. mass transit also off to a great start today. b.a.r.t. normal service. 33 trains in service right now. muni, no delays. same thing for capital corridor. so far so good. thanks, alexis. starbucks making a controversial decision to make coffee safer for -- installing boxes for the safe disposal of syringes in the bathrooms at locations. starbucks workers expressed concern about discarded syringes tossed away in waste cans. they say it's a growing problem since starbucks ghana loug anyone to use its restrooms. on social media, some are asking if the boxes will encourage more people to use drugs in the bathroom? in the east bay, today is the start of oakland restaurant week and now it's ninth year.
