live where you live, this is "abc7 news." >> she was too young. she was too young to die. >> a fallen davis police officer is remembered tonight at a candlelight vigil. the crowd numbering in the hundreds, came out to honor the woman who was called a rising star by her police chief. good evening. thanks for joining us. >> just hours before that vigil, the davis police department released a letter from the suspect. >> kevin douglas limbaugh wrote, the police department was hitting him with ultrasonic waves, saying he can't live this way anymore. it was found inside a backpack he had dropped. our reporter is following this developing story tonight in davis.

>> reporter: all of this was inspired out of tragedy. >> i didn't know natalie or her family, but like so many others, i followed the story. >> reporter: a story where 22-year-old police officer natalie carona was ambushed from behind. investigators identified the shooter as 48-year-old kevin limbaugh. they say after firing once, he reloaded, fired again, and walked home where he took his life. police say he left this letter behind. >> i want to show my support. >> reporter: it felt like all of davis showed up to central park with messages of hope, but still carrying the weight of sadness. >> she was too young to die, doing what she loved. >> reporter: that same emotion was all over the stage, as strangers, friends, family, appeared one after another in front of a silent crowd. her cousins recalling her love of service and law enforcement.

police say there had been a confrontation between him and another man before the shooting. no arrests have been made. we're learning new information about a crash in antioch that left two teenagers dead and four others hurt. they were in a vehicle last night that slammed into a slee on lone tree way. the san francisco chronicle reports there were five girls in the car, two 13-year-olds, three 17-year-olds, and one 16-year-old boy. fire officials say the four surviving victims have moderate to critical injuries. investigators say it appears excessive speeding on the wet roadway is the most likely cause of the crash. the community is rallying for justice in support of an 88-year-old great grandmother who wa on tuesday, she was on her morning walk when she was beaten unconscious. kate larson attended a vigil for wong this evening where the

until monday evening at the earliest. road crews are looking into whether a damaged storm drainpipe underground might be to claim for that sinkhole. these photos are from the county. traffic is being detoured at trade zone boulevard and the railroad tracks. those crews could be dealing with rain as they race to patch up that sinkhole. >> there's more on the way. >> meteorologist drew tuma is standing by to see when the next round is going to arrive. >> we have a nice little break in the wet weather today to start off the weekend, but the next storm system is off our coastline as we speak. so live doppler 7 with satellite is showing you a lot of cloud cover off the coast, and that spinning is the next storm system. the brunt of the moisture with that storm is going to be headed to southern california. so we're going to get scraped by the edge of this system tomorrow night. so on the storm impact scale, just some light showers to finish out the weekend sunday

night. and right now, it looks like the best chance will be in the south bay and along the coast. less than a quarter inch of rain, but more storms on the horizon will be stronger. we'll detail that in the forecast. >> drew, thank you very much. in the north bay, police say a man tried to burn down the convenience store with gasoline and a lighter, all caught on video. cornell bernard is there with this very strange story. >> reporter: 40-year-old suspect veshded peacefully to police after stopping at this safeway gas station. police followed roman from this circle c store where he argued with the assistant manager. >> i said sir, you have to prepay gas. then he is so angry, he take a gas can from hisuck, h cam inside the store,r in the store. >> reporter: police say it was

caught on the score security camera. watch as he douses the floor with gasoline, as kuma r-kales 911. he leaves the store and returns with a lighter. he then tosses the lit paper on the gas soaked floor. what did you do? >> i was so scared. i wanted to stay away. >> reporter: luckily there was no fire. the gas did not ignite. the suspect took off, but police followed him where he refused to surrender. >> the negotiators used deescalation techniques, and they were able to talk about what's going on with him. >> reporter: police say roman was having family troubles. he had agreed to surrender after asking police for a cigarette. instead, they gave him a vape pen. he is just relieved there was no fire and nobody got hurt.

>> thank god i survived today. >> reporter: roman is charged with attempted arson and vandal lichl. by the way, today is his last day on the job after 15 years there. cornell bernard, "abc7 news." one man is dead and four are in critical condition after a mass drug overdose in a chico home. at least a dozen people were taken to the hospital this morning. chico police believe it was caused by a mix of a dangerous opioid fentanyl with another substance. all of the people hospitalized were over 18 and most appear to be in their 20s. four people are still in critical condition. two officers were also taken to the hospital as a precaution. >> >> family, friends, and a bay area community gathered at the commonwealth club to celebrate the life of ray taliafaro.

today at the catholic diocese of santa rosa released 39 names who church leaders say sexually abused children or faced credible accusations of abuse. the santa rosa names to 140,000 parishioners and the media. >> it's shocking that we only knew of 16 names before today and now we know between 40 and 50. >> reporter: the "abc7 news" i-team has investigated several of the priests who were named today. dan noyes' 1995 report on father gary timmens led to a prison sentence. also on the list, father austin peter keegan, who dan followed to mexico and found working at an or phaorphanage.

several other priests abused 63 of the estimated 100 young victims. there are also several names left off the list, which troubles him. >> and that is demoralizing. i think it doesn't seven justice or those unknown survivors that these names have been left off the list. >> reporter: one name that's on the list is that of disgraced former raid crow host bernie war, who was part of the santa rosa diocese from 1978 to 1979. in 2008, a victim came forward with accusations of abuse. the bishop says he's making the information available in pursuit of transparency. but he notes that the list wasn't released until 23 of the 39 priests and deacons were dead. >> it's an intentional strategy to try to suppress reports, and to avoid as much law enforcement involvement as possible. >> the current bishop says in

>> when is the rain coming? >> we are tracking showers tomorrow, but they're coming at night. so much of the day tomorrow will be dry, but we're tracking stronger tomorrows in the week ahead. scanning the skies, dry skies for tonight and much of the day tomorrow. outside tonight, it's a nice night. you did need the rain gear earlier today, but over the next several days we'll see self-storms move into california, and that rainfall is going to add up over the next seven days. the rainfall across the state will get a soaking tuesday, wednesday, and thursday. you can see a lot of spots from l.a. to fresno, up into san francisco and the bay area. anywhere from one to three inches over the next seven days, even higher amounts in the sierra. yes, we are expecting snow in the sierra on the order of two to four feet over the week ahead.

the coast. rainfall looks to be less than a quarter of an inch. we'll plan your sunday tomorrow morning. it's a bend of sun and clouds out there. we are dry in the morning and we're really dry through the daylight hours. at night after the sun goes down, that's where tracking that light rain along the coast and in the south bay, and some of the showers could linger into monday morning, as well. total rainfall, not a soaker over the next 24 hours. by 11:00 tomorrow night, you can see most spots less than a quarter of an inch of rain. and the other big takeaway, there will be some spots in the north bay that don't so the accuweather seven-day forecast, tomorrow, it's a shower at night, a one on the storm impact scale, scattered showers on monday. but really focus on your attention on tuesday, wednesday, thursday. that is when the stronger storms move in here with heavy rains, strong winds. and we're going to eye wednesday night and thursday, with some very strong winds at that time.

place tonight in davis to remember fallen police officer natalie car ro natalie carona. in san francisco's visitation valley neighborhood, friends and family of an 88-year-old woman gathered for a community vigil for her recovery. wong was brutally beaten and left for dead at a local park. there's a $10,000 reward for arrest and conviction. police arrested 40-year-old man after he poured gasoline inside this circle k gas stat roman was angry he couldn't get a fuel pump to work. the gasoline did not ignite.

jayme's alleged captor, jake patterson, left the house before she took off, running into jeannie nutter out walking her dog. >> was crying and said, i need help. i don't know where i am. i'm lost. please help me. >> reporter: investigators say the 21-year-old is unemployed and has no criminal record. authorities allege patterson killed jayme's parents last october and then kidnapped the girl. >> he shaved his head so there was no hair left behind, you know, maybe in case he thought he was going to get into a struggle. he tried to cover up his forensic foot print by concealing things on his body. >> reporter: but the motive, a puzzling mystery. >> why do we think this suspect targeted jayme and her family? >> the why is the big question. i just know that jayme was the target of mr. patterson. he didn't know them, he had no contact with them that we know of. >> reporter: jayme's family now trying to return the young teen
