police say there has been a confrontation between him and another man right before the shooting not. arrests have been made. also in antioch. a crash left two teenagers dead and four others hurt. they were in a honda suv that slammed into a tree. the chronicle reports there were five girls in the car, two 13-year-old, three 17-year-olds as well as a 16-year-old buoy. the four survivors have moderate to critical injuries. investigators say excessive speeding on the wet roadway is the most likely cause. the communicate is rallying for justice in support of a 88-year-old great grandmother the victim of a heinous crime. abc 7 kate larson attended a vigil where the community and

chico police believe it was caused by a mix of the dangerous opioid fentanyl with another substance. four people are still in critical condition. two others were also taken to the hospital as a precaution. 6:07. not north bay, police say a man tried to burn town a convenient store with gasoline and a lighter. it was all caught on tape. quinnel bernd is in novato with this story. >> reporter: he surrendered peacefully to police six hours later. police followed him from this circle k convenient store where he had argued with assistant manager kumar. >> said you have to prepay gas. money. he was so angry he go outside. take a gas can k from his truck. came inside the store. pouring gas all over in the store. >> police say it was all caught on the store security camera.

watch as roman wal tough the aisles, dousing the floor with gasoline as kumar calls he comes back into the store with a lighter and a piece of paper and tosses it on the floor. >> what did you do when you saw that. >> i was so scared. i don't want to go close to to him. stayed away. >> okay. luck think there was no fire. the gas did it police followed him to nearby gas station where he refused to surrender. >> they were able to talk about what's going on with him. >> police say roman was having family troubles. he agreed to surrender after asking police for a cigarette. instead they gave him a vapor pen to smoke. police did not find a weapon in his truck. >> thank god i didn't fight with him. >> reporter: san jeev kumar is

relieved there was no fire and no one got hurt. in novato, cornell bernd abc 7. family, friends and community members gathered at the commonwealth club in san francisco yesterday to celebrate the life of former kgo radio host ray taliaferro. taliaferro's family, former mayor jordan and many of his colleagues spoke. >> ray was a remarkable personality. a great man and a man that gave so much to this community. his work with the leukemia society. naacp. in so many levels ray taliaferro made a difference in the life of people of the san francisco. >> 79-year-old taliaferro was found dead last month. police do not suspect foul play.

public taking matters into their own hands to reopen a dog park. after the group sf dog agreed to fund trash clean up and port potty may not. it will across the group about 1500 dollars per week. dog walkers saying getting the park opened turned out to be a big priority. >> if they could try to get funding released so this parking lot could be opened again. especially because we could still use it but we just couldn't get it into it safely. >> sf dog is holding a fundraiser to raise more money should the shut down continue. it is day 23 of the stoppage. south bay. a 23 fixed until tomorrow evening at the earliest. santa clara county road crews are looking into the whether ma. right now traffic is being

welcome back everyone. a live look outside from our san mateo bridge camera. thanks so much for waking up with us on this sunday. no rain for now but lisa is tracking changes ahead. she'll have more in the full accuweather report. the catholic diocese of santa rosa released the names of 39 members of the clergy who church leaders say sexual abused children or faced credible accusations of abuse. eric thomas has the details.s >> reporter: the santa rosa diocese sent this news release to 140,000 paris paris paris pap news media.

many are stunned by the number. >> it is shocking that we only knew of 16 names before today. and now we know of somewhere between 40 and 50. >> the abc 7 news i team has investigated several of the priests who were named in the 1995 report on father gary timmons led to a prison sentence. also father austin peter keegan, found working at an orphanage. timmons, keegan and two other priests. don kimble and francisco ochoa abused 63 of the 100 named victims. there weres also names left off the list. >> and that is demoralizing. i think it doesn't serve justice or the unknown survivors that these names have been left off the list. >> reporter: one name on the list is that of disgraced former radio host bernie ward. in 2008 a victim came forward

with accusations of abuse. the bishop says he's making the information available in pursuit of transparency. but mcnevin notes the list wasn't released until 23 of the 39 priests and deacons were dead. >> it is an intentional strategy to try to suppress reports and to avoid as much law enforcement involvement as possible. the current bishop of the diocese robert vassa says in the news release they have no desire to hide or cover anything up. and that is why a seven member review board including a retired probationary officer and two retired judges were appointed. calling attention to what hay they is a lack of state funding for public education.

yesterday, abc 7 news was at a plaza in oakland where teachers unions held a rally. many stood in solidarity with teachers in lactic acid who aoc contract dispute. >> there has to be a change and we're hoping by this rally we'll get us all together for legislators, superintendent, school boards, county offices to talk about that as well as teacher unions and other labor unions. >> teachers say they want commercial property owners to pay their fair share of property taxes to help fund public schools. skyrocketing housing prices, healthcare costs and student loans. bay area teachers are facing tough choices just to make ends meet. starting tomorrow. building a better bay area will take a closer look at the challenges and possible solutions. tune in for "builting a better

rain tonight and then looking at the storms picking up in intensity towards tuesday, wednesday and thursday. so we're bringing in our storm impact scale. for monday a level one with light showers. they will be widely scattered and we're expecting only about 1/10 two 2/10. the bulk of the day today is dry. towards 11:00 we could see a few showers develop. more likely towards the monday morning community. 9:00 in the morning, you can see how scattered they are. monday evening a few more showers but all in all this system is not turning out to be anything very impressive. so from early -- i should say late tonight to late monday night looking about .09 in san francisco. .05 in redwood city. monterey through early monday morning. picking up through monday, you will notice in the afternoon we've got wet weather. the evening commute but it is

really the tuesday, wednesday -- here we are wednesday at 2:00 in the afternoon. into thursday is when the systems get stronger. progressively stronger. and the winds will be with us throughout the middle of the week and the lat ert part of the week. still looking at 1 1/2 to two inches in the valley locations and perhaps 3 to 4 inches in the higher elevation north bay. that translates to powder. anywhere from two to three feet. so the storms once they get going come tuesday, wednesday and thursday really not going to get a break in between any of them. so now is the time to get out there. and clean out the drains and the gutters. and get prepared for a pretty wet three daytime period of some very heavy down powers at times. 60 in oakland. palo alto a mild 60 degrees. the accurate seven day forecast.

a historic home by san jose university is moved to a another location. the school wanted to move to it make room for a new building. those are photo of the home being transplanted. it moved about a mile away. streets in the area were shut down all day to comeaccommodate move. abc 7 was in san francisco yesterday at the asian art museum for a japanese new year celebration. the free event offered a traditional painting and drumming ceremony. and the pounding of rice into sweet cakes. visitors also tried their hands at paper folding for prosperity and luck in 2019. still to come on abc 7 mornings. new details on the missing wisconsin girl found alive after being taken from her family's home in october.

that brave young girl's harrowing escape after 88 days in captivity at this isolated home in wisconsin. the alleged captor jake patterson left the house before she took off rubbing into the jamie nutter who was out walking her dog. >> crying and said "i need help. i don't know where i am. i'm lost. please help me". >> reporter: investigators say the 21-year-old is unemployed and has no criminal record. patterson killed her parents last december and then kidnapped the girl. >> saved his head. so there was no hair left behind. he tried cover up his forensic footprint by concealing things on his body. >> reporter: but the motive, a puzzling mystery. why do we think this suspect target targeted jayme and her family? >> the why is the big question. i just know that jayme was the target of mr. patterson.
