now, it could rain at any time. the computer models are saying over the next 12 hours where i have time frames, noon and 4:00 will be the best in the east bay. as far as the north bay, noon, 2:00, 4:00 and 6:00. just happens to be at those hours. it is showing the best chance. now, for san francisco, we've got 10:00, noon and also around 4:00. but don't be surprised like everywhere else that you'll find random showers in between those areas also. those temperatures in the mid to upper 50s today. pretty close to where we should be. it's not wet yet. but it's going to get wet. let's see what the dry roads are leading to this morning. >> not much. going to be quiet today. hoping we can hold on to that for a while longer. 101 and 880 in san jose. the traffic coming toward us is the inbound side of traffic. it's busier this time of day. northbound 101 between 680 and 85. checking that drive time. still in the green at 11 minutes. we're also looking good here as

best days to go. the snow gets heavier tuesday, wednesday and thursday. i bet they that's how heavy the snow is going to be. let me show you what's going on. evening snow today, then heavy snow and gusty winds for thursday. we're talking several feet of snow by thursday. >> thanks, mike. a federal judge in oakland blocking new birth control rules from the trump administration. new regulations by the trump administration would let private and public companies opt out of providing no cost contraceptive coverage for religious reasons. yesterday, a judge blocked those rules from taking place in 12 states plus d.c. those are the areas suing the federal government to block the regulations from taking place. the judge declined to block the rules nationwide. >> happening this morng, los angeles public school teachers will go on strike. 30,000 teachers will hit the picket lines starting at 7:00 a.m. affecting some half million

forecast together for you. here's a look at what's going on. it's quiet in walnut creek. we've got light showers with mostly cloudy conditions. chance continues tonight and more and stronger storms on the way. here's a look at today's temperatures. 56 to about 58. need a little cooler in livermore at 55 degrees. pretty close to where we should be. tonight will be mild by mid-winter standards. mid-40s to mid 50s. green out there and yellows and oranges and yellows and oranges showing up by this time tomorrow morning. you see speckled spots if you will of light rain. most of it not even reaching the ground right now. here we are at 7:00. mainly gray as you look at the cloud there. i always like to stop it and let you know what's going to happen in the lunch-hour. we have a chance of scattered showers there. i like to stop it at 4:00 when the evening commute starts. hitting the peninsula coast there, we could see an uptick in the 4:00 and intensity of the showers.

i want to give you a quick peek of what's coming at us. this is what's going to be a wednesday. i need to change that. 3. it's going to be serious. i'll show you more coming up next. local politicians are calling one another to influence where the raiders should play next season. it will be the team's last season before moving to las vegas. the chronicle reports oakland city council president has called several san francisco supervisors urging them to oppose the team's plan to play at the recently renamed oracle park, home of the giants. but oakland mayor libby schaaf is leaning in another direction. schaaf doesn't mind letting the raiders play in san francisco as long as the giants allow

coliseum workers to staff the games. the raiders are considering other venues as well, including wembley stadium in london. >> there's a big change in fire protection on the peninsula. firefighters raise the american flag and california flag in belmont yesterday. it's now home to the new san mateo consolidated fire department. the agency combines departments that had served san mateo, foster city and belmont. firefighters say they will help them respond more quickly. the three departments are the latest to merge in san mateo county. >> good news. game of thrones fans, the date has been set for the premiere of the 8th and final season. hbo announces the show will return on april 14th. there are only six episodes. some are expected to be longer than one hour. the last episode is scheduled to end on may 19th. but the season isn't the end of the game of thrones story. a pre-quel is under way starring naomi watts and it takes place

forecast. >> here's a live look from the east bay hills camera. mike nicco is tracking our storm for us this morning. >> good morning on monday, january 14th. >> let's check in with mike. hi there. >> hey guys. like groundhog day. we keep reliving the same forecast over and over and over again. but this time, it's going to get heavier as we get deeper into the week. here's a look at the scattered showers today. just a 1. a light half inch of rain and light winds. you can see thunderstorms near l.a. and santa barbara. we're not seeing any of that. just a little bit of light green right now. for most of us, it is pretty quiet. the chances of showers start to increase through the morning and into the afternoon and evening hours. temperaturewise, low 40s to even mid-50s this morning. we'll be in the low to mid-50s noon to 4:00. just a touch breezy at 4:00. but nothing i don't think you can handle. by 7:00, still showers and still pretty mild, 49 to 53 degrees. while we've got the dry streets, get out there. first, let's listen to alexis
