thank you for joining us. i'm eric thomas. >> i'm dion lim. we begin with marches held along the country, a look at the largest rallies held in washington, d.c., new york city, los angeles, right here in the bay area. >> at least six women's marches were held locally. cornell barnard takes us to a few of them live tonight in san francisco. cornell? >> reporter: the rally here at civic center wrapped up a short time ago, thousands of people making their voices heard. >> whose street? >> our street! >> reporter: many got loud, others got political. thousands made their way down market street for the women's march. we spotted the mayor. >> let us not be satisfied until women are finally making the same amount of money and even more than men. >> reporter: a large crowd

filled civic center to join the fight for equality and celebrate women in politics. lisa brought her daughter. >> she want s to be president so we're trying to keep her involved in as much as we can with what's going on today. >> reporter: in oakland, this march was on the move from lake merritt to city hall. many signs in the crowd reflecting the times. >> wanted to come out and represent in solidarity for women's rights, for health care, for housing, for all the issues that impact a lot of people around the world. >> reporter: the first march started in 2017 as a protest to president trump's arrival in office. >> we march because we know them, then that donald trump was trying to turn back the clock. we knew it. we showed up and said no way. >> reporter: in san jose, a smaller crowd gathered for a rally to champion women's rights. a law professor spearheaded the

campaign to recall a judge. >> we're saying no to abusers, enablers in public office. no abusers in public office, no abusers in the white house or on the supreme court. >> reporter: i have covered all three women's marches. the ones today appear to be smaller in numbers from tahrir years past, but the passion people have, the commitment they have appear to be just as strong. in san francisco, cornell barnard, abc7 news. >> thank you very much. in the east bay, a crowd turned out for a march at walnut creek and gathered for a rally, many holding signs and clad in pink fighting for equality. they said this is a time to make their voices heard. >> this is an important time in our country, we need to make a statement, show up, represent, and having two daughters, this is even a bigger deal than more than before. >> some demonstrators also

mentioned the current government shutdown and the battle over funding for a border wall. >> this year's national movement may be smaller than years past because of accusations of anti-semitism against an organizer in washington. the controversy surrounds women's march co-president tamika mallory's ties to and refusal to condemn farrakhan. organizers in five cities hosted marches the past two years but did not plan one for this year. many of those cities held alternative events. kamala harris spoke at the women's march in 2017 but hold buzzfeed she will not participate this year. women's march incorporated says it rejects anti-semitism. we sent a push alert letting

know people tehey can see the colorful signs. enable push alerts on the app. developing news, day 29 of the partial government shutdown and a new offer on the table from president trump. his proposal includes $800 million for humanitarian assistance for migrants, $805 million for drug detection technology, 275,000 border agents and 75 immigration judges as well as extended protections for young immigrants. >> reporter: president donald trump offering to make a deal. >> i am here to break a logjam and provide congress with a path forward to end the government shutdown. >> reporter: he proposed funds for what he called a humanitarian and security crisis at the southern border. new drug detection technology, more border agents an a wul. >> the plan includes $5.75

billion for a strategic deployment of physical barriers or a wall. >> reporter: then he offered what he believes will convince moderate democrats to soup pupp h him. >> three years for 700,000 daca recipients. >> reporter: and three years of protection for individuals with temporary protected status. >> that is our plan. border security, daca, tps, and many other things. >> reporter: but nancy pelosi rejecting the proposal. in a statement, she says it is unlikely any one of these provisions alone would pass the house and taken together they are a nonstarter. for one thing, this proposal does not include the permanent solution for the dreamers and tps recipients. she added that democrats want border security but first will pass bills to reopen the government, something that seems unlikely as both sides continue to stand their ground. the shutdown sparked an

emergency town hall at the east bay. a large crowd showed up to get an update from a congressman before he addressed constituents. we asked him for his reaction to president trump's announcement. he had this message for the president. >> you need to take a deep breath and do what's best for the american people, reopen government, don't hold these people hostage and have a discussion through the normal process. >> when asked for his opinion on the president's latest offer, he said the wall remains a nonstarter. in the north bay, coast guard families hurting because of the shutdown received some help. abc7 news was in novato as the san francisco marin food bank brought its mobile pantry to town today. about 150 coast guard families got to stock up on food and other necessities. they've been going without a paycheck for over four

>> this is aamamazinamazing. >> it's sad. this is food we'd like to be giving to other people but we're trying to spread it out. >> a big turnout there. the food bank helped families who are eligible sign up for assistance from the state. an animal rescue in the north bay is offering free pet food to pet owners who work for the federal government but are not getting paid. they will provide for any kind of pet including dogs, horse, even fish. it can ship the food to pet owners. people have to apply. we have information on how to do that on our websites a abc7news.com. after an 88-year-old woman was nearly bet aen beaten to the neighborhood where it happened -- dozens of residents gathered at an elementary school. it was nearly two weeks ago the woman was attacked an left for dead at a playground.

marshawn lynch went beast mode on president trump with bill maher. when the host asked for his response to the president calling him unpatriotic for sitting during the national anthem, he hit back. he used a colorful expletive that we won't repeat. he we ahirtaying everybody versus trump and waked in o oak. he's buying real estate in the city to fight gentrification. outrage is growing over students who mocked a native american vietnam veteran.

you might have seen this on social media already. this video captured at yesterday's indigenous people's watch in a washington is making the rounds. it shows a teen wearing a make america great stairing at the man. the students were attending the march for life. >> insane. build that wall, build that wall. this is indigenous lands. we never had walls. we never had a prison. we always took care of our elders and our children. taught them right and wrong. >> the high school said the students will be punished and could be expelled. see just how much snow has fallen in tahoe and how much more is coming. that's ahead. >> we love to have the three- and four-foot storms. >> this guy loves the snow

imagine waking up and finding your house buried in sn snow. that's what happened to one man in sierra. his home looks like a giant igloo. for some, this may be a major inconvenience, this man says bring it on. >> i'm delighted to have this much snow. i'm going to go out and ski as much as i can up and downhill. >> looks like he could ski off the roof. when it comes to clearing the snow, nevada county does most of the work, plowing his driveway as well as the rounds around it. >> mogul, right? more snow is on the way to the sierra, a winter storm in effect tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. up to two feet of snow is expected in the higher elevations. interstate 80 looked pretty good

this afternoon for those headed up to tahoe, but that is expected to change and could be dangerous for drivers once the snow starts coming down. the warning is supposed to expire monday morning. a brief break between storms today, a mild evening on tap, but tomorrow we're tracking showers returning to the forecast. live doppler 7 giving the active scan across the region and we are dry. the picture tonight, it's a gorgeous one, a live look from our east bay hills camera, that sun setting. you can see there's a lot of cloud in our sky and that cloud cover will give way to rainfall tomorrow, but the sierra, i want to give you an update on where we stand because we're doing really well. ha last year at this time, sierra fall only26% of normal, and today, the snow pack is healthy, above normal at 111% and more snow is on the way tomorrow. good news there. rainfall across the region,

we're getting back to where we should be, percent of normal, made huge gains this past week with that storm on wednesday. you can see san francisco 90% of normal, 92% in santa rosa, and we'll tack onto these numbers tomorrow with some light showers. temperature-wise, concord, 67, 64 in the city, 65 in san jose and santa rosa coming in at 58 degrees. overnight tonight, a lot of cloud cover out there. numbers not falling too far from where we are right now over the next 12 hour so a lot of 50s for our i don't ever night lows and we'll track a chance of shower after midnight. tomorrow, a coastal flood advisory in effect at 8:00 in the morning. this coincides with our highest tides we have all year, the king tide, so high tide around san francisco, right around 10:00 in the morning at seven feet. likely we'll see some minor flooding in the low-lying areas once that high tide moves in. live doppler 7, our next front is moving into north korea e ii
