campaign ad. announcing that she will hold a rally this sunday in oakland. at noon to officially kick off her campaign with voters. today, she announced she's running on "good morning america" where she was asked about what qualifies her to be president. >> what qualifies you to be commander in chief? >> first of all, let me say i love my country. i love my country. this is a moment in time that i feel a sense of responsibility to stand up and fight for the best of who we are. and that fight will always include as one of the highest priorities our national security. >> harris had said a couple of weeks ago she wasn't ready to announce a possible campaign. but at least three candidates have jumped in since then. this morning, harris did too. if she were to be elected, she would be the first female president. one person on twitter asked, did hillary clinton crawl so harris can walk? we shall see.

government, let workers get paychecks and then we can discuss how we can come together to protect the border. okay. then one more tweet from san francisco mayor london breed who weighed in tweeting back at the president. we are cleaning the streets just like speaker pelosi is cleaning up after the mess that is your presidency. she's getting mixed response from responsiblers and people pointing out that many city streets are still dirty. muni drivers are crying foul over the agency's plan to put them through a $3 million training program to de-escalate conflicts and identify implicit bias. according to the chronicle, they've pleaded for protections against violent assaults on buses, light rail vehicles and streetcars. instead, the agency is responding in part by offering the training. the transit workers union says the plan falls short of their request for more police on board and faster response times to attack. muni says the sensitivity training is just one tool in the

it's tough to see. there's an overturned vehicle. chp is there. two reopened. this is southbound 680 at al costa in the dublin, pleasanton area. once again, all lanes are shut down for a time. the two left lanes as you can see, are getting by. the right lanes remain closed and emergency crews on the scene. san marrone valley boulevard will be the best alternate or village parkway. you take al costa to village parkway to avoid all this if you're headed to the dublin interchange. this is south 680 near al costa. sky 7 over an injury accident involving four vehicles. guys? >> thank you, sue. new this morning, san francisco unified officials are reportedly developing an attendance plan to help students get to school. according to the examiner, students missed 11% of the school year in 2017. a student who misses 10% or more of the year is chronically

absent. they have a plan to present to the school board in the spring. that plan will include finding what factors cause students to miss school, including what kind of household they live in. public schools are closed today for dr. martin luther king day. it appears unlikely that teachers in the los angeles unified school district will be back in class tomorrow. it's been one week since they went on strike. they were in marathon bargaining sessions at city hall over the weekend. more than 30,000 teachers are demanding higher pay, smaller classes and more support staff. l.a. unified is the second largest school district in the country with about 640,000 students. this is their first strike in 30 years. still ahead, the key to controlling food cravings could be as simple as doing one thing for two minutes. for two minutes. a milestone for ghirardelli

according to tech crunch, uber is hiring a team to develop bikes and scooters to move themselves to charging stations or to prospective riders. uber owns jump bikes which does business in san francisco. the company declined to comment to the website. san francisco's ghirardelli square retail complex is 98% leased. that is quite different than what we saw six years ago when that 100,000 square foot retail complex was about half empty. its property owner jamestown credits the success to specialized cuisine and unique offerings that appeals to local and tourists who visit fisherman's wharf. they have a mini golf course and host public movie nights. we've been there. you smell something really good but it's bad for you. you just get tempted to indulge. >> researchers think they have found the answer to dealing with the desires. a new study says people who breathed in those yummy smells for longer than two minutes lost
