courtship, they're finally going to get to meet each other. he's going to fly from the east coast to the west coast. >> it's kind of an old-time type story you meet somebody in passing. you have this connection. they write letters to each other. reminds me of my grandparents when they were on the other side of the planet. >> with technology now, right? >> yeah, moved into the modern day. >> awe. this is so sweet. >> yeah. >> i am just caught up in the innocence, sweetness of the whole story. >> they go on a little road trip. it looks like they're having a great time at the park. you can see them posing with the sequoia, the waterfalls. >> it's picture perfect. >> my question is, how long was the visit? is he there to stay or is he popping over for a week and they have to do this all over again? >> unfortunately it was short-lived. if we fast forward more. you see that moment where they're just very sad knowing their time has come to an end.

imagine you have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world to do. now imagine doing it for very little money or in some cases no money at all. this firefighter from the bow regar r regard volunteer fire department is at a fully involved house fire. neighbors spotted smoke and flames coming from this house. they went over, knocked on the door, got the family out. the fire took over. that's where these guys came in. >> that's so sad. the people who live in that home are watching their stuff just completely burnt to the ground. they're losing everything. >> except their lives. >> it seems more middle of nowhere which is why it's so impressive to me that they turned up so quickly. so much of the building is still

standing. >> remember, you're a volunteer firefighter in a small community. when that tone goes out, you do your best to get there and help other people in need. at this point they're trying to vent the roof. the ladder there is too short. they're not able to make a safe transfer from the ground ladder to the roof ladder. they have to abandon that plan and make an interior entry. this particular firefighter suffers a malfunction to his breathing apparatus. it dumped about three quarters of its air like that. he had to get out as quickly as possible. >> you can see it was a devastating fire. pretty much a total loss to this building. right now the fire is under investigation. the home owners believe it was started by a wood burning stove. >> oh, no. ♪ i think self facing things
