have already been called before the special counsel's office. roger stone, the veteran -- owe long time friend of president donald trump has been arrested. stone has been indicted on seven counts, including one count of obstruction of an official proceeding, five counts of false statements and one count of witness tampering. the special counsel's indictment is related to his alleged contact with wikileaks publisher julian assange in the summer of 2016. stone has told abc news multiple times that he never met or spoke with assange and had interimmediate yar i with the founder. >> this is the first indictment where it becomes clear that the special counsel believes that the trump campaign knew about the hacks before this material was made public. >> stone served as an adviser to trump's presidential campaign but left amid controversy in 2015. >> we may hear from roger stone himself today. he's due in court at 11:00 in

ft. lauderdale. inside the court there will be no cameras. roger stone is known to come up and speak to the large number of cameras that are already starting to assemble there. reporting live from washington, lana zak, abc 7 news. >> lana, i have to admit, he keep hitting refresh on my tweet deck. have you seen any response from president trump? >> i've been watching myself. so far no response from the president himself. we have just heard moments ago from white house press secretary sara sanders. she said that the counts, the indictments against stone have nothing to do with the president because they are related to lying. of course, the argument would be made that the individual that directed roger stone could potentially be the president. that's one of the things that we're certainly waiting to learn more about. but we won't have answers to that until we hear more from roger stone and from the president himself. one other thing that i will say is that back in december when the president did speak about roger stone, he tweeted that it's good to know that some people still have guts when

other wildfires still under investigation, including last year's deadly camp fire, the deadliest and most destructive fire in state history. >> pg&e was found not to be liable in that instance. now, that said, pg&e was found liable for 17 other fires in 2017. >> governor newsom acknowledged that not everyone would be pleased with yesterday's announcement, but he says there's no reason to believe that cal fire's investigation was flawed. pg&e stock shot up after cal fire released its report. this chart shows how it's performed since last monday. it o took a beating when news came out that the utility came out -- dropping to $6 a share. it's rose by 73% yesterday and closed $13.95. b.a.r.t. is taking extra steps to make sure riders pay their fare. fare evasion is one of the major

we want to get back to the breaking news in the russia investigation this morning. you're looking at a live picture of roger stone's home in ft. lauderdale. he was arrested early this morning in connection with the russia investigation. and that information was passed down from special counsel robert mueller's office. it does look like there is quite a large police presence here on the scene. we're seeing a lot of fbi agents and it will probably be like this much of the day today. >> yes. he's supposed to be -- roger stone appearing in court this morning at 8:00 a.m. our time. we'll provide you more information with that. there's been a little bit of time since we've seen a major arrest in the mueller investigation. so this marks a milestone in that investigation and, of course, we're waiting to see what president trump has to say about this. so far he's been publicly silent. although sarah sanders has spoke about it and said in no way was president trump involved in what roger stone has been

for. more information as we get it here on abc 7 mornings. now to a very personal revelation from five-time olympic champion swimmer nathan adrian. >> the 30-year-old cal graduate just announced he's battling testicular cancer. adrian said he's optimistic about his diagnosis and getting back in the pool. he shared these photos on instagram. adrian says thanks to early detection, his future is bright, telling his fans he plans to continue training for the 2020 tokyo games. kamala harris is in south carolina where she will speak at a gala for a sorority there. south carolina will hol early primary in the presidential election next year. harris will formally launch her campaign in oakland on sunday. speaking of that, oakland could face a fine for a possible ethics violation. a city employee using municipal e-mail account to forward information about senator harris' sunday presidential campaign rally. the release from the oakland police department spokesperson reads in part, harris believes

tracking every angle of the breaking news. live coverage after abc 7 mornings. we're going to turn to victims of the devastating tubbs fire saying they aren't satisfied with an official report of its cause. >> cal fire says a homeowner's private electric system in calistoga started the inferno, not pg&e. the report is based on witness statements, expert opinions and physical evidence. the report states that burn patterns at the site proved that the fire moved toward a nearby pg&e pole in question and that there is quote, no evidence showing pg&e's conductors were charged when they were severed or fell to the ground. while some people believe the report, others are not so easily convinced. >> it's hard to determine what really happened with that much heat, i would assume. not a fire expert, so hopefully they get somebody out to there to get a second look. >> pg&e was doing the study, that would be a different story for obvious reasons.

democrats' bill to reopen the government. it received more votes than the president's proposal. now president trump says he could be amenable to reopening the government if democrats make a prorated downpayment on the wall. new this morning, we're learning some tsa workers will receive one week's worth of pay despite the shutdown. that's according to an announcement from the agency. this applies to those making less than $90,000 per year. there are 51,000 tsa screeners around the country. that money is coming from leftover funds from 2018. marin county firefighters are rallying to help unpaid members of the coast guard. the fire department posted video of firefighters collecting six truck loads of food. this is incredible. $12,000 in gift cards in just three hours yesterday. firefighters will continue to accept gift cards as long as the shutdown goes on. in the south bay, the san jose city council has approved a 90-day moratorium on evictions for unpaid federal workers or

proposal. jobina? >> reporter: good morning. yes, neighbors out here are very frustrated with the congestion and everything else that the touristy area brings from issues of car break-ins as well. we're about to take a trip down the street to explain the situation and what they are hoping for. which is an electronic reservation system. that's been proposed here. it will operate like fastrak before accessing this portion of lombard street with your car. visitors would have to go to a website, app or kiosk to pick a day and time to visit. it would be offered in 30 to 60 minute increments. the license plate number would be registered. if you have a rental car, you could sign up and update the license plate portion later. cameras would read your plate, verify it and process the payment. if the plate isn't registered, the driver would be charged a higher rate. this would exclude residents and their guests of course.
