of democrats who have already declared their candidacy or formed exploratory committees. including gillibrand, warren, gabbard. john delaney, richard ojeda and former tech executive, andrew yang. what is declared to be the second case of swatting in the bay area this month. swatting is when a police tactical team is intentionally sent to an address when there is no wrongdoing but a joke or harassment and carries the possibility of dangerous or even deadly consequences. katie has the details. >> reporter: early saturday morning, san francisco police responded to a serious call, repos shots inside home. >> two kids in the house and says he will shoot the children. >> reporter: once in the neighborhood, you can hear the first signs that the call was suspicious.

[ radio transmission ]. >> the guy i spoke to said it was like a swat thing. >> reporter: swatting is a form of harassment where a false report of a crime is made to prompt a large police response. the victims are unsuspecting. around 12:45, the homeowner allowed police inside. officers determined there was no emergency. >> i know these guys, someone big in the tech world. >> reporter: and those targeted in this possible swatting incident have now hired private security and tells me the family has no comment. >> i've been living here for six years. it's always been really really quiet. i'm surprised to hear that for sure. >> reporter: earlier this month, palo alto police got a similar call. >> the male caller stated he had just shot his wife in their home, kids tied up and pipe bombs everywhere, and that if the police responded he would harm the police.

>> reporter: saying the january 9th case is a facebook cybersecurity executive. swatting is more than just a prank. police say callers could face criminal and civil charges. in san francisco. abc7 news. anti-abortion activists marched through the streets yesterday afternoon. it caused painful traffic backups. abc7 news was there as the 15th annual walk for life west coast made its way down market street and ended at embarcadero plaza and participants say they're here to speak for unborn babies. >> i think we need to see change in america. part of the change we need to see is protecting those who don't have a voice, who can't protect themselves. >> we did hear of a small counter protest of pro-choice activists but there was no confrontation. the streets were cleared at 5:30 p.m.

>> a fraternity has won their appeal. the campus security was prepared to kick them out. the fraternity received low scores in the university's eight standard excellence program. their attorney appealed the decision and the attorney said they were successful. and news about the stanford's track team bus that caught on fire. it was headed to the university of seattle when the back of the bus went up in flames. take a look at this. investigators think overheated brakes and blown out rear tire may have sparked the fire. all 31 students and coaches made it out okay. when stanford got to the meet, they had extra gear standing by just in case. in the east bay, oakland as hosted the team's annual fanfest. abc news was in jack london square where a stream of green and yellow flooded the

we are well aware of the electric scooter craze in the bay area. a new study is raising alarm about their safety. looking at accidents over a one year period, between two emergency rooms they saw 250 people and only 4% of riders had their helmets on. a handful of injuries were pedestrians struck by scooter riders and some struck by them. one suing following the crash. >> i thought i was going to die. >> when you hit the cement at 17 miles an hour, it hurts. >> injuries varied from cuts and bruises to breaks.

doctors say 40% of those hurt had a head injury. at the beginning of the year, california eliminated the law scooter riders must wear a helmet. time now is 6:13. in the east bay, a popular weekend event is going to shut down for the first time in its history. yesterday, we were at the flea market at the barkley station parking lot, it has been there since 1972. berkeley reports the market is struggling financially and will not be held in february and march and may relocate. the main source of income is ghirardelli and another candy company are being sued about their candy, and russell stover. saying the packaging is much bigger than the amount of candy included for some products and in some cases actually less than

storm track to the north and keeps us dry. it's also allowing for a little bit of fog. we had wind yesterday that kept the fog out of the bay area. with things quieter, a quarter mile visibility in concord and santa rosa doing better elsewhere. visibility is good but when the sun comes up in about an hour or so you will find clouds around with 45 in concord and 53 in san francisco and 40 in santa rosa. that is nothing compared to, these bone chilling numbers that are moving out of canada, and will be pushing into much of the midwest, northeast for the week ahead. it feels like just about 1 in detroit, indianapolis, minus 7 in chicago. much of the country will be very very cold for the weekend, except us, where we will be enjoying numbers well above average. patchy fog, sunshine today, chilly temperatures beginning wednesday, doesn't look great but i have it in there with

cooler temperatures and more cloud cover to start out with. speaking of cloud cover, high clouds today, with us tonight and starting out your work week with dry conditions, the week ahead in san jose featuring the upper 60s. average high is 60 and we continue to see the trend of milder temperatures for january and we get into february, the numbers drop, not likely to see rain wednesday in san jose, perhaps on friday. this is the trend, 2:00 on wednesday, this forecast model painting the bay area with a slight chance of showers. then, as we go through thursday, it's dry. but by friday, looks like the ridge will be breaking down and a better chance of rain for the entire bay area. still, several days out. it does look like we're going to see things change up for the week ahead, the new month. that would be good. we haven't seen rain in a while. it's been a nice break but temperatures not feeling like january today. high clouds with a mixture of sunshine today, highs in the

>> reporter: she also helped expand the exhibit to include the work of contemporary black artists including the five-fifths. objects speaking to black displacement. >> reporter: the special collections librarian at the san francisco art institute is hosting this at the height of the black panther movement called "vanguard revisited." he says the photographs were given to the university of santa cruz where artists began pouring over them. the students of the art institutes arranged them many never seen before meant to carry the struggles of the movement into our times. >> the students wanted to make sure it resonated with the audience today and current events today. >> we see that with political movements now, like black lives matter. i think that's something that still carries today. >> reporter: abc7 news. >> it runs through the first week in april. a 13-year-old girl in
