meeting set for this morning as the pressure mounts? >> reporter: george, good morning to you. abc news learning those meetings started overnight. governor ralph northam met with his top aides as the calls for his resignation are growing from democrats. from joe biden and hillary clinton all calling for him to step down. this morning, virginia governor ralph northam's future in doubt after this racist photo surfaced from his medical school yearbook page. at first, he said he was one of the two men in the picture. but over the weekend, northam said he spoke too soon. >> i was appalled that they appeared on my page. but i believe then and now that i'm not either of the people in that photo. >> reporter: but then the governor admitting he has appeared in blackface before. dressing up as michael jackson and doing the moonwalk during a dance contest in 1984. >> i had the shoes, i had a

calling on northam to resign. he also admitted he had a racially charged nickname that appeared in his yearbook. northam said he was given the nickname by two upperclassmen in college. but he says he don't know why. >> okay, tom, thanks very much. to the white house now, where president trump is preparing his state of the union of address. take a look. >> it's up to the attorney general. i don't know. i have no idea what it's going to say. so far this thing has been a total witch hunt. it doesn't implicate me in any way. there was no collusion. there was no obstruction. there was no nothing. >> let's bring in terry moran. the president's attorney general nominee has avoided making any promises about a public release. >> reporter: william barr, who's nominated for attorney general very carefully said i can't commit to releasing this report. he said he'd work for as much transparency as possible around

plane crash. five people killed when a small plane went down in a california neighborhood shortly after takeoff, igniting a massive fire that engulfed several homes. our chief national correspondent matt gutman is there in yorba linda, good morning, matt. >> reporter: according to investigators and that video we have seen, that plane appeared to break up in the air. you can see the engine box still snugged against that wall. four of those people killed were hosting a super bowl party. it was a sleepy sunday afternoon when parts of a plane began raining down on this los angeles suburb. >> we saw two fireballs, and the plane was just falling out of the sky. and by the time we got up here, we saw this devastation in the neighborhood. >> reporter: one part of

twin-engine cessna blasting into this home like a missile. the plume seen for miles. >> it went up so fast, there was nothing you could do. >> reporter: the inferno killing four people in that house. the pilot of the plane, its only occupant, also killed. within seconds, dozens of dazed residents walking amid the wreckage. in this video, you can still hear those small explosions popping off. folks yelling, get back. >> i look up and i just see debris flying everywhere. and part of the plane, i guess which eventually was the motor flew down into the garage like a torpedo. and blew up. >> reporter: propellers scattered on lawn and windows shattered. >> the debris field is about four blocks long. we're in the process of documenting the debris and the wreckage. the main cabin of the airplane, along with one of the engines, came to rest at the bottom of a ravine. in the backyard of somebody's

house. >> reporter: two additional people taken to burn centers and a firefighter injured. that investigation just beginning. >> we're going to continue this investigation through the evening and well into tomorrow morning. >> reporter: investigators are going to have to piece together what happened here uses those debris trail and the video we have seen. >> all right, matt, thank you. now to ginger with mudslides and snow and rain coming to the west. >> let's look at southern california, this is a debris flow up to 6 inches of rain fell in l.a. county just this weekend. there's more happening now. speaking of, when you add that moisture to a little elevation, you get this. that's 72 of those inches came within 24 hours. they got more where that came

the all-new rav4. toyota. let's go places. hi, good morning. i'm jessica castro from abc 7 mornings. wet and windy conditions continue across the bay area, making for a dangerous commute in some areas. this huge eucalyptus tree toppled on to east cliff drive near 9th avenue in santa cruz, knocking out power to the surrounding area. and in fremont, the chp is blaming a mudslide for a car crash around 3:00 a.m. this morning. no reported injuries so far. a large boulder blocked the road but was removed just about an hour ago. we have seen a lot of problems on the roads this morning. alexis? >> yeah, we sure have. that definitely was one of them. giving you the thumbs up now. even though the map is still catching up, showing purple, it is back in the green. everything is back open.

now to the new twist in the case of that missing mom from colorado. kelsey berreth. her fiance is already charged with murder and now abc news has learned a nurse is expected to make a plea deal for her involvement the case. abc's clayton sandell is in denver with those new details. good morning, clayton. >> reporter: good morning to you, michael. it has been 74 days since kelsey berreth went missing and as you mentioned, her fiance already charged with her murder. but now, the woman suspected of helping frazee after that alleged murder is expected to plead guilty.

this morning, a 32-year-old nurse from twin falls, idaho, is set to make a deal with prosecutors in the case of missing mom kelsey berreth. family members of krystal lee tell abc news that she'll plead guilty to at least one charge this week. patrick frazee has already been charged with berreth's murder. her body hasn't been found. lee's exact relationship to frazee and her alleged role in the case remains a mystery. berreth was last seen thanksgiving day on this surveillance video shopping with the one-year-old daughter she had with frazee. thee days after she vanished, investigators say her cell phone was detected hundreds of miles away. multiple law enforcement officials say lee is suspected of driving her cell phone to idaho. attempting to get rid of it. it's not clear what charge or charges lee will plead guilty
