inches. it was moistened by the first wave and the second wave came through and then the winds. once the winds get underneath of eave of a roof or something, it an start to lift that roof like a sail and start to push. maybe that could have dislodged the house. once the house started to dislodge because of the wind, then the sole gives way and the whole thing goes. >> that's from what time period? >> the last 48 hours. >> what are they looking at ahead today? >> that's a good question. let's go to live doppler 7. there we go. 4.92 inches of rain the last 48 hours. let me show you that the heaviest of the rain is over. the atmospheric river, the brighter whiter clouds you see there are sliding down to the south. so we're already start to go transition from waves of steady moderate to heavy rain to more like light rain.
4:31 am
okay. within that light rain, we'll have pockets of moderate rain. see that brighter whiter cluster. a brighter whiter cluster of clouds. that's detached from the atmospheric river. that's what's coming our way and will bring us the chance of isolated but heavy downpours through the mid-morning into the afternoon hours. so we've got the atmospheric river sliding to the south taking the steady rain from us. so cal will big event and tomorrow residual effects of the rain. i want to reset the clock starting at 5:30 this morning. we'll set everything back to zero. let's see how much rain we get the rest of the day. anywhere from a quarter to another half inch. now, it's going to come down in some spots rather aggressively in these downpours. we could have minor flooding on roads and even more rock slides and ce the pinpoint
4:32 am
the most likely place for it to happen is -- up in the north bay, we've received about 5 to 7 inches. all this wet weather start to go slide into our rivers. we've got the guadalupe river near the alma den expressway. we're forecasting it to flood at 6:00 a.m. at 6 inches. about 9.1 feet. 6 inches above flood stage. minor nooding there. runoff into the guerneville area of the russian river. at 10:00 this morning, it will be cresting about five feet above flood stage. moderate flooding is possible there. we got frances helping me once again. she's helping me put together graphics. the threat of a thunderstorm is real today. and that threat of a thunderstorm is going to be for all of us. in fact, there's even a threat of tornadoes in the central valley today. that gives you an idea of how strong that system is going to
4:33 am
be when it comes in. that system is going to come in once during the morning hours. here you go. around 9:00 you can see through noon and then again during the evening hours and that's when we'll have our best chance for additional wind damage, mud and rock slides and flooding on the roadways. speaking of the roadways, let's go to alexis. >> mike, we've got plenty of issues on the roads as you would expect this morning. looking live at state route 92. san mateo bridge. we have reports of a disabled box truck at the toll plaza. looks like it's pulled off to the shoulder. not causing too much of a delay. high-wind advisory. taking you to the north bay, state route 121 closed around 116. that's due to high water. where you're seeing that purple on the maps between shellville and big bend, you are not going to be able to get through that area. you have to take alternates instead. just hearing about a new issue
4:34 am
in the tri-valley. the ramp to 680, sounds like about ten vehicles pulled off to the shoulder with flat tires. i'm pretty sure this is going to be a big pothole in the area and causing the vehicles to become disabled. working on confirming that with whp. we have to get a cal trans crew out there. westbound 580, tracy to dublin. you're in the yellow at 32 minutes. westbound 4 antioch to concord in the green at 14. san rafael to san francisco, 101, in the green at 17 minutes. let's check out the willow glen neighborhood in san jose. matt keller is there. matt, there's homes being evacuated? what's happening? >> reporter: we're here on glacier drive near cherry avenue. it's right behind ross creek and the concern is about ross creek flooding into these homes. you see one at the door. knocking on doors, waking people
4:35 am
up. they're being advised to evacuate. some people saying they're leaving. they're going to go to a willow glen community center. it's open for evacuees. we've heard people say they're going to monitor and stick it out and see what happens. obviously, ross creek is an issue this morning. i just checked with the national weather service and saw that it is above the action stage but below the flood stage. they're concerned about it getting into the flood stage and coming into the homes. we're hearing courtyard court as well. we're checking to see about different neighborhoods here in the willow glen neighborhood and then also on my phony got this alert. says the national weather service issued a flood warning for the area. residents along the guadalupe river area from willow glen way to atlanta avenue. the guadalupe river, we're talking about -- a lot of issues in stand saah jose. we were also at the elk's lodge off elm avenue. that was a concern whenever there's rain there. because that parking lot in
4:36 am
elk's lodge can flood and the concern there, there are a lot of rvs and a lot of people who sleep in the rvs at night. that's a concern here and the san jose officers walking up on glacier drive. we're going to be monitoring this as we've watched some of these people evacuate the homes. they're packing up and moving out for right now and hoping that ross creek does not flood into their homes. at least san jose police are letting everything everybody know that that's a possibility. back to you. >> scary situation at 4:30 in the morning to get a knock on the door. matt keller thank you for that update. now back to sausalito where we're seeing a house that appears to have slid off of a hill. >> reporter amy hollyfield is near that home. we're told you're on crescent drive, is that correct, amy? what can you see from your vantage point? >> that is correct, jessica. look behind me, i'll show you the home that has fallen, slipped off its foundation and ruined. something just popped. what was that?
4:37 am
the power just went out. did you hear that pop? sorry. the good news about this home is that it was vacant. no one was inside. they did take a woman who lives a couple of houses down on crescent avenue to the hospital with unknown injuries. the officer who briefed me said he doesn't understand at this point why she was hurt or what happened to her. we're still w to get information about her. this major damage you see didn't impact anyone. no one was in this home. they are still worried about the stability of this hillside. they want people to clear out of this area. they are evacuating this area. they're also concerned about threats. there's a broken gas main and we can smell gas in the air. there are downed power lines and i just heard what sounded like a transformer pop and it looks like power has been knocked out, at least on this block. still an unstable situation here in sausalito. police say the call came in.
4:38 am
one person said it felt like the ground was rumbling when this mudslide happened. they're worried it could get even more. once again, they're evacuating the area and asking people to avoid the area. i'm going to check on that power situation, that popping that we just heard will. i'll update you on that. >> amy as you were making your way to the scene, did you see people being evacuated and how many homes are near you right now? >> it's a very populated area. homes right next to each other. i do not see people out and about. i don't know if they're still asleep or if they've left. we were working to try to get the latest information on the slide. we haven't been able to talk to the battalion chief or police chief about that. still working to get details. >> do you see crews near that homeworking to clear >> reporter: this is what i see.
4:39 am
there are people out on the street huddled around the fire truck frying to come up with a plan. but i do not see people physically trying to remove the debris or working on the home, no. >> okay. >> amy, that is quite a scene. we're glad to hear that house was unoccupied at the time and also glad to hear that one of the women in the neighborhood has been rescued and is being treated right now. we'll continue to check in with you and i know you want to get more information. as soon as we have more, please get back to us. amy hollyfield live from sausali sausali sausalito. >> reporter: okay sounds good. >> and be safe. going to check in with mike nicco. how many inches of rain has sausalito received at this point? >> almost 5. what we're getting out of the storm system right now -- you can see towards miller avenue, that's where the light lane is
4:40 am
fall right now. unlike yesterday when we had moderate rain for hours, today our steady rain is going to end this morning. then we'll turn our attention to the fact that we have thunderstorms in the forecast for the entire bay area. look at that, a chance of tornadoes in the darker foam green, if you will. it will get dicey for us. when you have a thunderstorm, you have heavier more intense winds that cause more damage. tomorrow we're in the same boat. we've got more thunderstorms in the forecast and look at this. into saturday, again, more thunderstorms in the forecast. the only place we don't have them is up in lake county where it's going to be too cold because this is when we're going to start turning over to snow. here's a look again at the atmospheric river. the brighter whiter clouds you see there. you can see plenty of green
4:41 am
radar returns. that's the lighter rain in the grayer clouds. the less moisture-laden clouds north of us and headed our way. we've still got a lot of issues to deal with during the drive this morning. that's when we'll have the steadiest rain and our fastest wind and the standing water. i wish i had a canoe to get to work this morning. that may have been easier or a jet ski. the showers will be locally heavy but not as hard to get around as this morning. i want to bring in alexis and tell us more about what you en encountered. >> i think the wind was the bigger issue for me. it wasn't even very wet. >> you can see sheets of rain going sideways across it. >> road spray from other vehicles. it was not a fun commute. i'm guessing it probably won't be for you either. plenty of issues to get to. let look at the traffic map. little bit more information in the tri-valley. a large pothole opened up on the left side of the roadway. in the dublin pleasanton area.
4:42 am
ten vehicles have hit that. they are now disabled with flat tires and perhaps more damage to their cars. chp on the way to the scene. i'm sure cal trans is very busy today with all the trees down and the slides. we'll see how long it takes them to get out there and respond. westbound state route 237 at zanker road, a five-vehicle collision. sounds like they all need a tow truck. you're heavy from the 880 interchange. not terrible but a delay there. a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. we have a little stack up in the cash lanes. everyone else is looking good. extremely windy on the east-west bridges. we have a high-wind advisory for richmond-san rafael, dumbarton bridge, bay bridge and altamont pass. that's going to be tricky especially in a high-profile vehicle. wimpy trash bags? c'mon. hefty! hefty! hefty! hey ladies... buy hefty® ultra strong™ at a low price.

4:46 am
overnight. >> it appears no one was home at the time. that's the good news. one person may have been trapped at one point perhaps in an adjacent lot. we're checking into that to see what happened to that person and what injuries that person sustained. in any case, this is obviously a result of the weather we've been having over the past day or so. another round of the storm this morning and mike has been telling us they've received about 5 inches of rain in sausalito. but what a mess. thank goodness it appears that no one was in that house when it appears to have slid off its foundation. really dramatic pictures from sausalito this morning. a warning, mike, of what can happen when we get this much rain and the ground is so saturated. >> we get the wind also that helped to exacerbate the situation. i'm sure that house just a little bit nudging it, if you will on that soft unstable soil. it takes momentum and we get all
4:47 am
that weight. thousands of pounds of weight behind it. it's good night, it's over. >> hopefully, everybody is going to be okay. we had wind gusts up to 62 miles per hour at sfo within the hour. so it gives you an idea, there are still fast breezes out there. anywhere from 26 in concord to 25 in hayward to nearing 30 in mountain view and san carlos. 37 in novato. 30 in santa rosa. all those areas i mentioned, there is the potential for more trees coming down and more power outages. the good thing as we look ahead to 6:00, we're around the 25 to 35 mile per hour range. notice it starts to dwindle a little bit heading through the morning and into the lunch-hour when we're down to 10 to 15 to 20 miles per hour. that's good news there. let's take a look at my highlights. we have rain, then showers today. thunderstorms possible not only today but tomorrow and all the way through saturday now.
4:48 am
we had to lengthen that to sturday because of the possibility of damaging wind and hail. we've got this coastal flood advisory. this is because we're going to have high tide this morning at about 6:00. so that's why we have to be aware that anywhere near the bay shore there could be flooding. my accuweather seven-day forecast, still a 2 for today. 1 for friday, saturday and sunday as the cold air comes in and wintry showers and the snow level down to 1200 feet. we'll stay below average, low to mid-50s with the dry weather next week. here's the commute with alexis. >> good morning, mike. not a lot of folks on the roads yet this morning. we have flooding closures in the north bay. state rou121 and state route 12 closed around 116 between big bend and shellville area. that's been closed since last night. obviously it's still raining and we have a lot of water. no estimate on when that's roadways will reopen. you can see the camera bouncing around a bit the south bay and
4:49 am
really far inland is where we're seeing most of the rain at this point. some of the areas are starting to dry out especially with all that wind. so still seeing rooster tails, road spray kicking up at state route -- excuse me, this is 280 and 17. definitely could have standing water hydroplaning as a factor. you have the wind jerking you all over the place, too. not an easy commute today. i'll say what i said yesterday. these drive times are deceivingly good. it's not going to be a smooth commute. you won't be able to go your nor normal speed. no metering lights yet across the bay bridge. 101 in the green at ten minutes. >> listen to alexis. she knows of what she speaks. coming up next, an abc news exclusive. robin roberts talks with actor jussie smollett. this is the first interview since police started investigating the attack against him.
