this morning. a view if our sutro tower camera. we'lling getting breezier throughout the day, isolated showers all day long. temperature near 50 degrees. the sun sets at 5:50. we'll be looking at frosty nights ahead, chris. >> lisa, thank you. did you feel it? a jolt woke up several residents in the north bay. a magnitude 3. yountville. there have been no reports of injury or damage. firefighters are keeping an eye on the main tesla plant in fremont this morning after a fire started outside the building just before 8:30 last night on fremont boulevard in a 10x10 storage area. the fire was contained an hour and a half later. hazmat crews responded to the scene after barrels were reported to be on fire. >> right now we're having a hard time identifying the material burning. we have some barrels labeled as corrosive. they're not involved.

the attack crews were having an issue suppressing it with foam. there's a possibility it's a thermal runway with lithium batteries. >> the fire did not threaten other structures or employees. tesla has issued guidelines to fire departments on how to deal with battery tell te tesla's 2016 manual on battery fires is still relevant. they say foam works like a smothering blanket. in oakland, teachers are vowing to strike. as of now, the strike will begin on thursday. teachers are demanding higher pay, smaller class sizes and more abc 7 news reporter louise pena has more.

>> reporter: oakland teachers have been working without a contract since july of 2017. the union's president stated once again their demands: a 12% pay increase in three years, smaller class sites, and more resources like nurses and counselors. the district has offered a 5% increase. >> oakland teachers cannot afford to live in oakland. one out of five leave each year. 500 classrooms are left with inexperienced teachers. >> reporter: liz hawke is one of the parents who supports a decision to strike. >> my family stands on the side of teachers. and we're asking families to join and not cross the picket lines. we're organizing with other families to create schos foo for students through the time, through the strikes. >> reporter: this decision comes after a fact-finding report that tried to find middle ground for

a compromise between the two parties. >> we're certainly hopeful that we can head it off. this morning we asked oea to come to the table. we've got a comprehensive proposal ready to present to them. we hope they come to the table and we can negotiate this. we still believe we can head off this strike. >> reporter: it's important to highlight that even with a strike, schools will remain open with substitute teachers and administrators in the classroom. the transit agency sent a memo saying they would make every effort to maintain transportation in the strike. in the newsroom, luz news. >> the starting teacher's salary is $46,570. experienced teachers can earn

to our partners for mutual aid from the federal, state, and government. >> a redwood tree fell on lucas vaas been closed indefinitely. some marin county residents say they've been without power for the last several days. the westbound lanes of highway 37 are closed southeast of novato because of flood damage. a levy breach near the highway created a pool of water on the road on friday. "the press democrat" reports the road could be reopened this week. drivers are being rerouted onto 101. the woman in sausalito house slid down the street in the storm spoke with our abc 7 news reporter. >> oh, my gosh. you've got to be kidding me. i went through that? >> reporter: until susan gordon

sat down with us at her hotel, she hadn't seen the wreckage from sausalito's thursday morning mudslide. now she can't get the image out of her head. her duplex went sliding down 200 yards into another home. gordon was inside. >> tossed and smashed into things and tumbled and tumbled until it stopped. and i was knee deep, up to here in mud. >> reporter: to sit in front of us 72 hours later with cuts and bruises, it makes me wonder how. what did it sound like? >> a roar. a big lion. a big, big roar. >> reporter: how did she get out? >> one fireman came down and said, we have to really be careful in how we get you out of here because there's gas lines that are broken. >> reporter: first responders used jaws of life. gordon lost every single thing including her cat peaches who was on her bed before the slide. >> the friend i share the house

proud of me tomorrow. i don't give a [ bleep ]. >> reporter: that about theory charge against gonzalez is a misdemeanor. we reached out to her for comment but did not get a response. marci gonzalez, abc 7 news, los angeles. in the east bay, one man is in custody this morning after police say he rammed into several police cars, a pack of tourists, and even got into a fistfight with a chp officer. the wild chase ending in the caldecott tunnel. abc 7 news reporter has the story. >> reporter: it crashed into ten cars, including two police crews e cruisers. it ended in the caldecott tunnel. >> i spoke to a few witnesses who said there may be six others who are involved, six others just passinghe spshed into the car andanthroug.

this is a cross bridge over to the next. but then he came back and jumped into the car with these european tourists who pulled over because the suspect crashed into them at some point. >> the maniac hit us from behind and then we were driving on the side here and suddenly the guy came and tried to steal our car. >> reporter: since they ran out of the car with the keys, the suspect was stuck and so he ran up this small hill and into the neighborhood where he was arrested. but not before punching a contra costa county chp officer first. that officer is fine. in oakland, lisa amin ghoul easian, abc 7 news news. >> a scare at a performance of "hamilton" last night at the orpheum theater. here is a look at the scene friday night. a woman suffered a heart attack and a person nearby broke open an emergency defibrillator,

setting off the alarm at the same time somebody reportedly yelled "gun" and people rushed out or ducked for cover. police say there was no gun, and that a gunshot heard at the time was just part of the musical. the woman who suffered the heart attack is in critical condition. three others are hurt including one person who broke a leg. abc 7 news was there the other day when another performance took place without any issues. >> when i saw the news this morning, i was thankful we hadn't come last night. >> all audience members will have another chance to see thehh bay, a ride share driver's unusual request ended with marin county deputies getting a pair of shoes with drug inside. the driver pulled up behind the deputies in sausalito, asking them to investigate a shoe box. he told them he got a ride request to a woman in san francisco. but when he got there, a man greeted him asking the driver to deliver the shoe box. when the ride was canceled, the driver got nervous and found the

deputies. when they opened the box they found fentanyl inside one of the shoes. weather-wise, it is cold outside. we see the n. it's lit deceiving out there. meteorologist lisa argen is tracking the forecast for us. >> i think we'll take it, though, right? a chance to dry out and get some vitamin d even if you do have all the layers on this morning and heading out this afternoon, because the winds will pick up. the air temperature still pretty cool through the afternoon. numbers below average. live doppler 7 in the last three hours shows the rotation. most of the precip is offshore. you can see higher elevation snow around mt. hamilton, maybe mt. diablo. much of the moisture pushing along the central coast. we'll continue to see the possibility of a rain/snow mix here as the snow levels are dropping to around 2,800 feet. there isn't any moisture left, really, just along the coast here. if you're headed to monterey, sierra nevada, a winter storm warning is in effect, that's in pink, through 7:00. on either side of that, a winter

weather advisory, 4:00, five to seven more inches expected. squaw valley broke an all time record for february, 196 inches was last year's record in february, or the record, i should say, in 2016 and 2017, and 205 inches for this february. so unbelievable amounts. you can see down the line, 70 inches in the past three days at squaw. 64 inches north star. about three feet perhaps in mt. rose. we're still looking at slick conditions today as that winter storm warning and winter weather advisory is with us. the better days to travel will be tomorrow and tuesday. you're dry. but then on wednesday, looking at perhaps more snow. how about temperatures in the 40s? a cool beach day with 46 here in san francisco, 48 in oakland. it is 42 in morgan hill. on the coast, 48. sfo, you can see the sunshine here on the peninsula. it will be a breezy afternoon. it's only in santa rosa with 42 in petaluma and a

final look outside our studios where we'll see a mix of clouds and sun. isolated showers mainly in the higher elevations this afternoon. we'll look at the cold nights and mornings for the next several days. it will be sunny and dry. president's day into tuesday. wednesday could be our next chance of some rain. so we're keeping it at 1 today, because by the afternoon you've got the cloud buildups, higher elevations. if you're out on a bike ride or run, don't be surprised if you see an isolated shower, trace amounts, a couple of 1/100ths. you'll notice on the animation we're dry for the bulk of the day. here we are at 12:00, winds will be a factor. a little bit of energy coming into the east bay. the hills around milpitas, it will keep things a bit unsettled. then we'll look for a dry and cold night, although the winds

this afternoon keeping things pretty blustery. 30 miles an hour along the coast. here we go through 3:00 in the afternoon. 15 to 25-mile-per-hour winds common. then right on through the evening hours, we're still looking at a bit of a breeze. that breeze will help us tonight, because the coldest nights will be monday morning and tuesday morning. but as we look at average highs today, they should be in the mid- to upper 60s. today just low 50s for everyone. and then overnight tonight, we'll see some 20s and 30s. so tomorrow morning will be cold, i think tuesday will be the coldest morning. and then by wednesday, we're increasing the clouds. and this is our next chance of rain. it desn't look great. but if you're planning your week, you may get a little wet late wednesday. then it looks like we'll dry back out on thursday. accuweather seven-day forecast, a weak 1 on the storm impact scale. download the accuweather app. the temperatures are well below average. i don't see any bit of a warm-up, though, in sight.

mindy bach has the highlights. stephan curry had a lot riding on the three-point shooting contest saturday night. his brother seth was also competing and the brothers made a fairly expensive bet over who would finish higher. steph scored 27 points in the first round, so he advanced to the finals with buddy hield and joey harris. harris of the nets caught fire in the finals. he put up 26 points and hit all five on the bonus rack. those are worth two points each. steph made nine of his first ten shots but needed to make all of the bonus balls to force overtime. he came up one basket short. but he's okay with it, as larry beil explains. >> so close, yet so far. steph curry came within one, in and out, of forcing overtime in the three-point shoot-out, instead losing by two points to joe harris. >> it's a make-or-miss league, make-or-miss competition. tough way to end it, but joe shut the lights out. it was a great show. i think going into this knowing

until then, have a great day. getting a check of the weather now with meteorologist lisa argen, hi, lisa. >> hey, chris. it seems pretty nice out there. we're looking at a lot of sunshine. we had the showers this morning, a live look outside. behind me you can see san francisco bathed in that sun. and also from our exploratorium camera. but it is chilly and we still have the chance of some isolated showers out there. the system is sinking to the south of us. and we have the sierra snow that just doesn't want to stop. you see it behind me. bu the amounts at the resorts, incredible. february breaking records there. and you can see sierra, tahoe, squaw, 70 inches. north star, 64 30 inches. and so some areas looking at 8 1/2 feet. so really, unbelievable with the snow still coming down, light and fluffy. and the winter storm warning through 4:00 for the greater lake tahoe area.

and we even saw a rain/snow mix here from mt. hamilton and mt. diablo. live doppler 7 right now, the past three hours you can see modified moisture is offshore. but a few areas right along the coast. there is just a little bit of snow there at about 3 to 4,000 feet. mt. hamilton. but the moisture has passed, so it doesn't look like we're going to see a whole lot in terms of snow. but we still could see an afternoon shower, maybe 3:00, 4:00 around walnut creek. otherwise most of the activity is in monterey. the central coast, big sur. in the mountains for yet another day with a winter storm warning and a winter weather advisory through 4:00 and 7:00 today. so if you're planning on going up there or wondering when the best time to go is, it will be tomorrow. the holiday and tuesday. as for today, you have the snow, the gusty winds, and an additional five to seven inches not out of the question for about 5,000 feet. then we even looked at so the

snw this morning around placerville, a couple of inches there. wednesday, looking at some snow. a lot of sun, a stiff breeze from the golden gate brink. temperatures are in the 40s, 43. morgan hill, 47 in mountain view. san rafael, a few clouds around, highway 1 there. dry for the bulk of the day for most of you. if you're doing hiking, bike riding, you can run into an isolated shower. 46 in concord. a chilly afternoon, temperatures have been running well below average. that continues. in fact some frosty nights ahead with the winds dialing back into monday night and tuesday. a few isolated showers. the breezy afternoon winds. and looking at the dry conditions for the next couple of days. so today's one is a very weak 1 on our storm impact scale. the isolated showers, higher elevations, trace amounts, a couple of hundredths. as we go through the next several hours, you'll notice that most of the activity is
