santa clara fire officials were called for help around 7:30 this evening. it took teams about an hour and a half to find the hikers. officials say the wet weather is making trails dangerous and nobody should hike after dark. noflooded westbound lanes could reopen. engineers spent the weekend analyzing levees. a levee breeched on friday. flood water needs to recede before a potential fix can be determined. drivers are being rerouted. despite the break in the rain, the storm is reeking havoc in the north bay. crews spent all day clearing damage caused by a landslide. severe storm damage prompted officials to proclaim a local state of emergency.
