>> matt keller live in san jose with some of the proposals. matt. >> reporter: hi, reggie. this is a stop on route 22. we're here at santa clara and it's the only overpass bus service. vka looking to cut service between 1:00 errand 4:00 a.m. that's what's behind this. they proposed a new transit plan. the gilroy dispatch says it could save vta $15 million annually with 70 changes across bus and light rail services. their goal is to increase ridership while reducing impacts to riders. one rider is not so sure. >> it's going to hurt people who take buses early morning like b.a.r.t. it screws them up. t 45 people ride the bus for 2 shelter in the overnight hours. cutting the service from 1:00 to 4:00 could save $500,000

it's a story you'll see only on 7. a san jose couple was shocked to find their home ransacked after returning from vacation and their ipad and black bmw convertible were among the things stolen earlier this month. in a bizarre a stolen car showed up on the teen's iphone. they recorded on the ipad and it was loaded on social media and it went viral. >> i put it on facebook because i wanted some identification of who they are. >> a friend of mine sent it to me through facebook. she said, liz, i think this is your daughter. i mean, i'm not sure but i think it is. when i watched the video, i said, that's definitely her. >> the mom of one teen in the video confronted her daughter about it. the daughter said she did not have anything to do with the

four men pulling a woman through the window of her burning car. police say a drunk driver hit the woman's car and burst into flames. the woman was hurt and several of the rescuers were burned. the dui driver was injured as well. everyone, though, is expected to survive. happening today catholic leaders in the bay area will gather in berkeley to talk about clergy sexual abuse. this comes one day after the diocese of oakland released a list of 45 priests credibly accused of sexually abusing children. only six of them are still alive. the breeses. victim advocates say there are priests who aren't listed including father alex castillo. he was put on administrative leave after being accused of inappropriate conduct with a minor. the diocese tells abc 7 news the list of names will be updated as needed. >> it's another piece of our efforts to keep our children

blustery day thursday. freezing cold friday morning and saturday and sunday another light storm. not a washout this weekend. hey, alexis. >> good morning. i want to take you back up to the vacaville area. westbound 80, this is around lagoon valley road. sounds like a vehicle hit a light pole and that light pole fell into the roadway. i believe we have that contained to the right lane, number four. i saw a report from chp, they need caltrans to check out a new buckle in the roadway. i'm not sure if there's damage done to the road. in any case, several miles of back-up on westbound 80 leaving vacaville. we look great in the north bay, san rafael, sunshine 101 cruising along there without any significant issues. a quick check of mass transit. we've been looking good there as well. 49 b.a.r.t. trains in service, no delays. ace 1, about 12 minutes later due to mechanical issues, 3, 5, 7 on time. back to normal service, no delays for muni. thank you, alexis.

vermont senator bernie sanders announced he is running for president in 2020. together we can defeat donald trump and repair the damage he has done to our country. brothers and sisters, if we stand together, there is no limit to what we can accomplish. i hope you'll join me. >> in his announcement video, he asked his constituents to be part of an unprecedented and historic grassroots campaign that will start with at least 1 million people. sanders enters a growing democratic primary field which now includes five of his colleagues in the senate. this is his second consecutive bid for the democratic nomination after losing to hillary clinton in 2016. the next presidential election isn't until next november. the candidate pool is already big, as i just mentioned. we have a link on our website, abc7news.com with a running list of candidates vying for the dem nomination. sixteen states, including california, are suing president trump over his controversial emergency declaration.

the suit claims there is no esent is ciumnt border and the congress. the declaration made last week allows the president to use money from the pentagon and other budgets for the border wall. a fire tore through an apartment building. fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire on page street. no one was home in the top front unit where it began. it spread to the top floor ceiling. no one was hurt. treasure island, you can barely see it in the video, our camera on both sides of the bay. public itilt commission tells us the outage started yesterday morning. they restored power to all houses by 8:30 last night. some businesses may still be impacted. the cause of the outage was an equipment failure. >> here on abc 7 news, focused on building a better bay area. >> that includes housing and education, which is why possible oakland teacher strike set for

thursday is something we're focused on. teachers are asking for a raise. right now oakland school district salaries range from 46,000 to 84,000 per year. experienced teachers earn an average of 64,000. with high housing cost there isn't much left over. according to zillow, the median rent is $3,000 or $38,000 a year. that's more than 80% of a starting teacher's salary. abc news reporter amy hollyfield is live in oakland this morning. amy. >> reporter: jessica, district officials want students to know that schools will be open during the strike and they should come to class. they have that mee demands or decreases class sizes. they are hoping it will be a

your thoughts. some breaking news coming in. can you see live from sky7. this is a fire. one person is dead after this house caught fire in san mateo. that is according to the san mateo consolidated fire department. this is on humboldt near 2nd avenue. the fire began around 4:30 this morning. right now at least six people are displaced. the cause is under investigation. you can see the fire department is still out there. the investigation well under way right now. abc 7 news reporter matt keller on the way to the seb. we will check in with him shortly. sixteen people who got stuck on gondola ride at seaworld in san diego are safe this morning. a big gust of wind knocked out the power to bayside sky ride around 6:30 last night. since the ride stopped above water, crews had to harners each person. you see that person getting lowered down into a boat. the san diego fire department got all the guests back on the ground around 10:00 last night. seaworld is going to inspect the ride before it reopens.

oakland coliseum officials reportedly restarted talks about a lease that would allow raiders to play there for one more season. according to las vegas journal oakland alameda authority made the decision during a closed session friday. talks stalled after oakland filed an antitrust lawsuit against the raiders and nfl in december. oracle park in san francisco is not out of the question yet either. the league needs to know next month where the raiders are going to play to set the teams schedules. mike, this has been so much drama. give me less drama when it comes to the weather. >> i can do that. we'll have a little bit. seems like that that story never ends. saratoga, 32 in redwood city. danville and livermore, 25 and 27. even cooler than north bay.now.
