reached, the strike is set to start at 6:00 tomorrow morning. reporting live in oakland, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. amy, thank you. just to reiterate what she's reporting. oakland schools will stay open during the strike and students can still go to school. in addition, the city of oakland will open 15 recreation centers from 8:00 to 3:00 that will happen monday through friday. the teachers union will provide volunteers at the centers, meals will be provided for students. another option for parents, public libraries will be open during regular business hours. the city is asking that children 7 and younger be with a parent or care-giver there. ac transit says it may reduce service to schools. detour routes routes and temporarily close bus stops during the strike. we have more information at abc7news.com. you can keep up on the strike by using our abc 7 news app. funky music. we'll send out information and

the chance we'll taper at 7:00. the temperatures will fall back into the mid-40s. out aacoat or blanket ifoul scale. i noticed it was breezy across the bay bridge this morning. i want to ask alexis, any wind advisories out there. >> the only one from chp is the san mateo bridge. i will watch that and make sure they don't issue any more. i noticed that too if you're in a high-profile vehicle, we have breezy spots. >> any of the east-west bridges and it could be a little bit of a bumpier commute. i don't think anything like labs week. looking live at the bay bridge toll plaza, we have a stack-up on the left side of the bridge. no issues for fastrak. the right side is the way to go if you're paying cash right now. overall, looking good for drive times. tracy to dublin, 34 minutes. southbound 680, dublin to mission boulevard. 16 and northbound 85.

you're in green at 16 minutes. >> thank you, alexis. happening today, a woman accused of carjacking a ups truck and leading police on a chase is scheduled to appear in court. 24-year-old joanna mae macy rogers faces several charges. police shot and killed a male suspect after he ran from a ups truck with a gun in hand. the ups driver was taken hostage thursday along curtner avenue. developing news, matthew whitaker is under scrutiny by house democrats for possible perjury. this comes after a new york times report claims president trump pressured whitaker to change the prosecutor in the michael cohen case. he asked to put someone in charge of the case who is more sympathetic. whitaker denied that took place while testifying at a congressional hearing last week.

house democrats are identifying if he committed perjury. in the north bay, emotional return home for people in sausalito whose houses slid down a hill in a mudslide. drone view 7 shows us what it looks like on sausalito boulevard. a duplex slid off its foundation six days ago. a second home was destroyed in the mudslide. structural engineers allowed residents to return to the duplex to pick up items. tenants had to use a rope and cross a plank to reach the building and enter through a window. >> i thought i was going to have a breakdown. it's okay. i had a list prepared. mentally sort of what i needed to do. i just got everything i needed to get, i think. >> the building's a contractor y to get their renters back in. at least two tenants are not returning. in the east bay, a star studded convention is inspiring

look at how much warmer the temperatures are. up to 19 degrees warmer than this time yesterday. let's take a look at the numbers. we'll go up to the north bay where we're freezing cold yesterday. now we're in the low to upper 40s except for ukiah at 39 degrees. let's take a look at some of the other neighborhoods. remember the east bay, we were in the 20s. san ramon, 44 degrees right now. 50 in alameda. newark, redwood city, cupertino, san jose. here's a look at san rafael. one. first areas to receive the scattered showers today. the breezes are a big deal right now especially on the east-west bridges. small craft advisory on the bay today for those gusty breezes. look at the bell shape to our temperatures today. 46 at 8:00. 56 at noon. 47 at 8:00. notice you don't see a raindrop on there. it's going to happen. that's how scatter and isolated they're going to be. same thing with the peninsulament upper 40s from 8:00 to teoon.

no b.a.r.t. trains in service. ace 1 out of the central valley. they're having gps issues. normal service, no delays for muni. crews are working to repair the richmond-san rafael bridge. they're wrapping up for the morning. eastbound lanes are back open. it looks like the westbound side, they are still working on there. that should be done by 5:00. they did close one lane in each direction overnight. the crews are fixing -- cal trans says it failed. the faulty joint caused the concrete to fall from the upper deck on to the lower deck earlier this month. it will take two weeks to install a permanent fix. b.a.r.t. is now responding to questions from riders about seating and fare evaders. nothing quite like the belly of a lobster? why scientists say it could help develop body armor. >>
