and we're tracking this cell moving right on shore right now for you. it's going to be passing through san francisco about 4:25, over into oakland around 4:38. vallejo, 4:56 an pittsburg around 5:10. this has been the pattern, the steady flow of this stormy weather associated with our most recent atmospheric river, this powerful flow of moisture coming from the subtropical region into the bay area. this storm is strong. it ranks 3 on the storm impact scale. we'll continue to produce moderate to heavy impact tomorrow. local flooding is likely and damaging wind gusts from 30 to 50 miles an hour. here is our forecast animation. taking us into the evenin hours. it's going to be a very messy commute for virtually all areas except perhaps the southernmost of our area. into the late night hours we'll see the steady flow of heavy rain, heavy downpours, wet slippery roadways and strong gusty wind. let's go over to meteorologist drew tuma now. >> yes, spencer. one of our top concerns not only

tonight, but really through tuesday and wednesday is going to be flooding. our ground is already saturated. it can't absorb any more rainfall. the rain we're going to see over the next couple of days, it will quickly accumulate. it's for that fact. we have a flood watch in effect. this is nor the north bay, and that is lasting until 4:00 thursday morning. with that heavy rainfall, we will be watching very closely our rivers in the north bay, especially the napa and the russian river, and there is the chance early wednesday morning we could see water overflow their banks. what we're seeing area wide is a flash flood watch this. is because 1 to 3 inches of rain is likely tomorrow and into wednesday. so from san francisco, oakland to san jose be, careful for flooding on roads and the possibility of very rapid rises in our streams and creeks. now tomorrow some areas are going to get hit much more than others. when spencer comes back, he is going to pinpoint exactly where the heaviest rain will fall in that full accuweather forecast, guys, in a few minutes. >> thank you, drew.

as more rain moves in, people in sausalito are keeping a close watch on the hillside that came crashing down, destroying two houses on valentine's morning. >> abc 7 news reporter wayne freedman is there for us now. wayne? >> well, they're being proactive at this point. they're watching that hillside very closely. over my shoulder, a reminder, as if we needed it, of the damage that happened here on valentine's day. that's the house that came all the way down the hill, pushed by a landslide, and now they're worried about that atmospheric river. in sausalito today, it was not the amount of raindrops that began falling that concerned people. they're past that. along the path of this now famous mudslide, they worry about the potential consequence of rain falling at all. >> i think we're all worried. >> a sausalito spokesman abbott chambers on the very real possibilities in a slide zone with no room to go and nowhere to go except downhill into more trouble. it jtis is much bigger than r

>> susan gordon knows. she'd been sleeping in the duplex that used to be here when the mudslide took it down more than week ago. that anybody survive sad miracle. susan watched this morning as the national park service began putting tarps up above and trimming trees on the slope. >> there was three trees, really dangerous and uprooted. and with the new storm coming, they're afraid they're going to roll down the hill. >> in short, this is storm prep with no holding back. sausalito plans to watch this hillside closely wants residents to do the same. it's all part of trying to stay ahead ofas ar on a hillside that has already renewed a bad reputation. >> i think everyone is concerned. from what i understand, from what i hear from our public works folks, we really just don't know where a landslide is going to take place. >> and that's the feeling in

at california pacific medical center. police are investigating this death. investigators say there are no signs of foul play. district attorney george gascon today looked back at adachi's legacy. >> he had the freedom to speak as he felt and do the things that he felt were appropriate. and i think the legacy is one that served as an example for many, many other public defenders around the country. >> mike gonzalez, the chief attorney at the public attorney's office has taken over his role for the time being. dan noyes' exclusive reports this weekend had some of the most read and watched stories we've put on our website. dan will have more on this story tonight at 6:00. oakland police have arrested at least two people in connection with an armed robbery and shooting of a television news crew security guard. the incident happened on 81 avenue near international boulevard at 5:00 sunday. it involved a crew from kpix

television. according to oakland police, the guard and photographer were shot in the leg by one of those suspect, and police say the guard was able to return fire. officers recovered a stolen tv camera hours later after they chased the suspect's car. that vehicle crashed near 55th and bancroft avenue, and the driver was detained. the morning drive came to an unexpected stop for drivers using the caldecott tunnel. did you get stuck in this? a car caught fire just after 11 thank morning and blocked boast eastbound bores of the tunnel. sky 7 shows you emergency responders stopping traffic. smoke could be seen streaming from the bores. both reopened an hour after the car fire. our media partner "the mercury news" reports initial indications are that one car was fully engulfed in flames but the driver got out, and another driver took him out of the tunnel. abc7 news sent out a push alert. download the abc 7 news app and

heaviest rain is falling through the central part of the bay area. this is the view from sutro tower. it's 53 in the city right now. 55 in oakland. we've got mid- to upper 50s at mountain view. san jose, morgan hill and half moon bay. this is the view from emeryville. a few drops on the lens. we're looking at a little calm break in the storm right now looking in this direction. it's 52 in santa rosa. we have low to mid-50s at napa, petaluma, fairfield, concord and livermore. and atop mount tam it's rainy and windy, and on we go to the forecast features. heavy rain and gusty wind will continue through tomorrow. it will be a little calmer be i friday, and then another wet weather pattern moves in over the weekend. our current storm for most of the by area ranks 3. a strong storm through tomorrow with more periods of moderate to heavy rainfall. localized flooding is likely. we'll see wind gusts from 30 to 50 miles an hour. here is the forecast animation starting at 7:00 this evening. notice he'll still be quite stormy across most of the bay

area. it will not have quite reached the south bay yet, at least the most intense part of the storm. but overnight it will start pushing southward and eastward. and by tomorrow morning, as the morning commute gets under way, it will still be stormy in places where it's raining right now, and it will have reached the south bay then as well. through the morning hours and into the afternoon tomorrow, we expect the three level -- level 3 storm to continue. overnight lows mainly in the low 50s. and then we have isolated the north bay because it is going to get even heavier impacts from the storm. this storm ranks 4 in the north bay. this is a major storm in the north bay through tomorrow we'll see heavy rain, powerful wind gust there's, and a greater risk of flooding. in fact, we have a flood -- isolated the north bay once again to give you an idea of how stormy it's going to be. the heaviest rain will fall in the north bay. the highest risk for flooding anywhere in our region is in the north bay. landslides are possible. and we're talking about a 100% chance of this steady heavy rain continuing in the north bay. area wide, by midnight tomorrow

science, and there is no compromising with science. >> if you would like to see senator feinstein's resolution or details on the new green deal, go to our website, abc7news.com. in san francisco, matt keller, abc 7 news. authorities in florida officially charge new england patriots owner robert kraft with two counts of soliciting a prostitute. documents released today say the 77-year-old kraft visited the orchids of asia day spa for sex acts the night and the day of the afc championship game on january 19th. police say they have videotaped evidence of the encounter, and of kraft giving a woman at the spa money, including a $100 bill. the charges are part of a multi-county human trafficking sting operation. the patriots issued a statement last week denying these charges. singer r. kelly has posted $100,000 bail and is out on bond. he walked out of a chicago jail less than an hour ago there he is with his lawyer. this morning, he pleaded not guilty to ten counts of

>> and as we look for ways to build a better bay area, abc 7 news reporter david louie tells us why despite all the problems tech leaders are bullish on the by. >> with no quick fixes, traffic congestion and the high cost of housing, the pain has become too much for some. a new survey of silicon valley ceos confirm people are moving out of silicon valley at a rate of 165 people per month. that's four times higher than the year before. however, 56% of tech companies surveyed are still bullish that they can find workers and will continue to grow jobs. >> despite the headwinds, despite the traffic, despite the housing, all the things we know that put cost pressures on employers in addition to making life generally hard, these employers still want to be here. they still want to grow their presence here. >> the fifth annual survey by the silicon valley leadership group and the silicon valley community foundation recognizes solving traffic and housing issues will take years. the leadership's goal is to see 125,000 new housing permits in

way, especially in a country like the dominican republic that is still recovering from the devastation left behind by hurricane maria. abc 7 stars recognizes local people doing extraordinary things like this lafayette student who spent half a year making gifts for kids abroad. >> have i the mixed nut butter, which is the one i was thinking we could make today. it's a little more complicated. it's peanuts, almonds, cashews and chia seeds. >> lauren is teaching me how to make her homemade peanut butter. the high school student tells me it's one of her favorite foods, and she recently started selling her own. lauren needed money to help kids she met in the dominican republic during a summer abroad program. >> we ran camps for the kids every day. our project was to create a volleyball team. we created a team. we painted the volleyball courts. we had practices. and i was really just living in the community. so i was completely immersed and fully taking in the dominican culture. and the kids would always fight

who could carry those two balls down to the courts to play with them. and there are about 30 kids. and everyone sharing two balls. and the community would come and play. so it would be 50 people sharing two balls. so i knew i also wanted to send balls down. so that's how the peanut butter came in. i used the money from the peanut butter to buy the balls. >> it wasn't just sports equipment. the junior in lafayette also asked some friends for help to sew clothes to send the kids. >> had friends come over. we went to sew now, a local sewing studio in lafayette, and we sewed dresses together. my grandmother. all in all we made about 30 dresses that i sent down. >> i was really happy to help because i really enjoy making these dresses. and so to put in to a good cause like lauren's, it's really cool to see the outcome in it. >> we're very proud of lauren. she has done just a spectacular thing by bringing two

communities together, and just seeing all the hard work that she put in and everything that she did. and the end result was just amazing and something we're extremely proud of. >> lauren is super kind and compassionate and has a super big heart. she just wants to help everyone. >> lauren started her project in august and was able to send the gifts for christmas. and oh, she learned spanish pretty well. but where do teddy bears go when they're sick? the teddy bear clinic, of course. doctors at dignity health were on hand at the merced branch library in san francisco. kids were encouraged to bring in their favorite stuffed pals for a quick checkup. good thing too. it turns out there were some pretty sick bears. >> they were koufg and thcoughi they have a boo boo and they were sneezing and coughing. >> the reason we did the teddy bear clinic was to decrease anxiety about coming to the doctor's office. so many kids are worried about getting shots, things like that. with the teddy bear clinic they with listen to their teddy bear's hearts or fix their boo boo with a band-aid. it's not as scary to go the doctor's office. >> and who knows. it could also inspire some future doctors in the making. that's the sweetest thing. >> that is very sweet. there are two new changes on the way that could impact your credit score. >> 7 on your side's michael finney is here with details on

that michael? >> this changes everything. >> really? >> yeah, it's pretty big news. get ready for a huge shift in credit reporting and scoring system, the biggest in decades. two of the companies that help determine your cost to borrow money are adding new features this year that could give your credit score a boost. credit scoring as you know it is about to change. for decades, your number was based mostly on your history with payments on things like credit cards and loans. now two new changes are coming that might affect the way your score is calculated. for the first time ever, consumers can grant one of the scoring agencies access to their online bank accounts for a look at their bill-paying history. >> crummy credit is really expensive. and some of these changes give people the opportunity to boost their credit score, and that can potentially save them a lot of money. >> the first change, ex-peerian
