that can be aggravating the situation. we have larksberg, old railroad grade fire road up in the hills there. looks like we're going to have ponding on the roadways there as you're getting more and more rain. a look at the roof camera. it's heavier. moderate steady rain by 4:00 to 7:00, it's finally in the south bay. until then the rest of us will be dealing with the heaviest part of this storm. let's find out about the commute. here is alexis. >> mike, i wanted to show you what it looks like in the south bay. i've been showing you soggy traffic cameras. check out this one. it's on state road 87 south of mineta, san jose airport. yeah, it's looking dry. a big contrast here if you are traveling through the south bay, wants to make it onto the peninsula. if you're heading north into the east bay o fcoarea, going to be a totally different commute. let's flip over onto traffic maps, live doppler 7, that layer

added on top. plenty of crashes already, westbound highway 4 past alhambra. had a vehicle flip from eastbound side of the roadway to the westbound side. that is still blocking the left lane but not causing a back-up at 4:32. drive times, heavy out of tracy due to a crash blocking left lane westbound 580 around flynn road. one hour, seven minutes into dublin. westbound 4 antioch to conforward 13 minutes. 101 san rafael to san francisco holding onto the green at 17 minutes. >> thanks, alexis. people in the north bay are bracing for the worst of the ostomy. >> amy hollywood field live in sonoma county with a look at the conditions this morning. hi, amy. >> reporter: hi, matt. we're pushing through a steady downpour. check out conditions. northbound highway 101. we just left the area. it's been this way since we got started in the east bay.

a good saturation going on right now throughout the bay area. of course it is the north bay that everyone is very worried about as that's where the storm really seems to have its sights set on. we want to show you video from yesterday. this pounding started yesterday and is expected to last through most of this week with this area expected to get several inches of rain. sonoma county officials have warned residents to be prepared for floods. they are watching the creeks, worried about them spilling over their banks, also worried about the rivers with the russian river on a lot of people's minds. >> usually floods and it's been there. we'll be looking at. if it stops raining, it's good. if not, we have to start moving stuff around. >> in santa rosa, the concern is the area that burned in the tubs fire. officials have put measures in place to try to keep flooding and mudslides from happening

there. they are concerned. this area has received so much rain and now this storm. really going to be relentless for several days. they will open up their emergency operations center at 8:00 this morning as they are concerned about the possibility of mut slides and flooding. officials are on guard. they are telling residents they need to be, too. if you see anything that looks problematic they encourage you to call it in. reporting live from 101, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you, amy. we continue our team coverage, abc news report er in marin county. >> what are the conditions like where you are right now? >> reporter: thank you, guys. as you can see and here, it's raining. i want you to take a look at what we're looking at at this moment. here we go. see if you can see this to the right. we got it. there you go. there aren't many cars on the road at this point.

it's pretty clear. the wind is picking up. we can feel our news truck going back and forth. san anselmo creek is lo. it's expected to fill like others in the county. sandbags are ready and flood gates are locked in place. marin county emergency service coordinator tells us they are ready. >> things are obviously more saturated, so there's a lot of concern about that. we know some areas that slide. we keib an eye on that. >> reporter: they also said they are expecting for the storm to activate emergency operation in marin. keep in mind the last time they had to do this was two weeks ago when a storm caused a mudslide on a property where someone was rescued from. obviously keep our distance while driving. let's go back over here to see if you guys can see me. still in the car, bring you the latest on the rain, still on the way to the operations center.

stealing luggage at sfo. take a look at the surveillance photo of the suspect. police say he took a piece of luggage from the carousel on terminal 3 last week. that luggage contains millimeter pistol, a flashlight and holster. the son of a woman who died in the park said she passed away doing what she loved. she was hiking on the trail when falling rock and ice hit her. mist trail is closed this time of year because of hazardous conditions. park officials say the area is marked with warning signs. wang's son said she loved the outdoors. her family said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. >> sonoma county, just about all are flooding. willow brook the most severe, sonoma creek, green, laguna

san -- de santa rosa. colgan. there's going to be ponding on the roadways. do not drive through that. they could easily 6" of rain push a car or person off. a little more than that. this entire area under a flood warning until at least 5:00. i'm feeling that may have to be extended. with all the rain falling i don't see creeks receding back into their banks any time soon. take you south where santa cruz mountains getting rain across the summit. as you head to kennedy road and blossom hill as you head to los gatos, some of our bridges are wet. look at this, we've got dumbarton bridge, san mateo bridge. look at the peppering of moderate to heavy rain on the bay bridge. richmond san rafael bridge, golden gate bridge and alameda. should say the winds are blowing across these areas, anywhere from 25 to 35 miles per hour

making it even more dangerous. now, we'll go down to alameda. you can see at street level right there we have places like catalina avenue with moderate rain. everybody is going to have rain all day today except for a couple of areas where we're going to have scattered showers through 8:00. the peninsula, your steadier rain comes in at 10:00. down into the south bay you're going to have scattered rain up until 10:00 or 11:00. then steady rain starts to come in around noon and really increases during the evening hours. so the evening commute in the south bay is going to be like everybody else is dealing with this morning. let's talk to alexis about what we're dealing with. >> yeah. we've got plenty to talk about here today. we are looking live at walnut creek, southbound 680, traffic filling in. just getting a error report in north of treat boulevard flooding and standing water in slow lanes. in the r lane. you'll want to avoid that if possible or we could have hydroplaning. flipping over to traffic maps, i do want to zoom in with folks

we take a tour with live doppler 7 around some heavier rainfall that is heading towards crockett and cashingrquinezrqnee and standing water. north of el sa bronte, each richmond, arlington boulevard getting soaked. as you head to albany and berkeley, we've got california avenue there getting soaked. look at this, it goes all the way down to the bay bridge toll plaza and the points into downtown oakland around foothill boulevard. even more coming ashore.

and paradise drive. through san bruno gap, carter drive, 280, 82, all those areas we're starting to have ponding on the roadways because of those moderate showers just been training over the same area all during the nighttime. this radar looks only an hour old. you can see yellows and oranges are pretty much in the same spot. what concerns me for the next several hours, this slug of moisture that's going to push across central bay and north bay bringing some of the heaviest rain today as we head towards 9:00. so here we are at 7:00, future radar, north bay with yellows and oranges. spotty as you head southward. now let's watch that slug of moisture come in. you can see it gets as far south as san mateo bridge but really has a bull's eye on the north bay aggravating the flooding situation there. the south bay you're like when is it our turn. by 5:00 still just scattered showers for you. look at this wall. that's like 100 miles long of

moderate to heavy rain that's going to roll through during the evening hours and everybody is going to get pounded this evening and early during the overnight hours. eventually we'll turn this over from rain to showers tomorrow and that's why we dropped the scale down to a 2 moderate. morning showers thursday. that will make the morning commute wet but the evening commute thursday and both commutes friday will be dry. alexis. >> okay. taking a look at the roads here this morning. yeah, we are very soggy. looking live at the richmond side of the richmond san rafael bridge still have relatively light traffic volumes. if you are out there, not going to be a lot of fun. certainly have standing water. you can see how hard either falling. high wind advisories for several of our bridges this morning and a lot of crashes as well. in fact, we've had about four in this area, northbound 880 around a adeline street. the yellow on live dopp 7 is moderate rain. it definitely has plenty of

an arizona great dane is a new mom with quite the litter. 14 pup yers. wlcomed on saturday. a veterinary surgeon with seven technicians and the dog's family were all there for the c-section. great danes usually don't give birth to more than 10 puppies at one time. we're told the mom and the babies are all doing well. the puppies are bottle feeding every three hours. i've got to think great dane puppies have got to be some of the cutest, right? >> they are cute, and they are all different. >> they are going to be 6' tall soon. next at 5:00 a.m., stranded for days on an amtrak train, it was headed to the bay area when it ran into trouble. we'll hear from the woman who took these pictures. >> a live look outside right now as an atmospheric river hits the
