now at 5:00 an atmospheric river soaking the bay area right now. this is a live look at live doppler 7, the stormy weather you'll face as you head out the door this morning. good morning to you, tuesday february 26th. never more than 7 minutes away from accuweather forecast. meteorologist mike nicco has been all over the storm and joins us live with what we can expect. mike. >> guys, i'm going to take a look at storm reports. we have interesting stuff. i'm zooming down on sausalito. let me click on the storm report. we had a debris flow earlier that law enforcement said they needed emergency road closure at 101 and rodeo avenue off-ramp, so that was one of the issues we had earlier today, earlier this morning i should say. as we head up 101, let me click

on this one. we've had reports of flooding in korda madeira along 101. as we head farther north we've had reports of flooding. this flooding occurred in larkspur 101 across all lanes northbound. a lot of standing water in those areas, so you've got to watch out for that as the rain has been nonstop in the north bay. here we are looking at 680 and 780, vallejo, a lot of rain falling and standing water on the bridges. as we head to the eastern side of the bay bridge, just north of the toll plaza, you can see at emeryville and heading to the toll plaza from treasure island is a heavy cell right there. we've got another one that's arcing its way from san francisco to brisbane and along 101 as you head north from south san francisco. av rnigex. >>okay

a few minutes ago we into to you guys. we were driving on the 101. we finally guys to take a look behind us. the wind intensified a bit. currently at the marin county emergency operations center. neighbors are keeping an eye on novato creek, it drops around this man's backyard and after 15 years he's prepared for what the storm may bring. >> generators gassed up and ready to go if we lose power. i'm pretty confident if something really bad happens, we would get out. >> reporter: also in san anse o anselmo, it's expected to fill up fast with waterways in the county. or friends are not new to the event so sandbags are ready and flood gates locked in place. marin county emergency service tells us they are ready. now, the office of emergency services had also been sending out alerts to people in marin county particularly in this area. of course live here bringing you guys the latest of this rain.

luz pena, abc 7 news. thanks, luz. live team coverage continues with amy hollyfield. >> she's live in anniversary near greenville court and fulton road where this is some standing water there, amy. >> reporter: yes. hi, jess. yes, we're getting a light rain, a little break compared to the heavy rain we encountered on our drive up here. first stop we wanted to check santa rosa creek. authorities are worried about the creek flooding the banks. we can't get quite to the creek but we saw water here possibly spilling over from the creek. this is what officials are worried about. it gives you an idea how much rain this area received and still more on the way. we have some video to show you that this started yesterday. still going strong and expected for the next few days. the question is how much can the area take.

sonoma residents have been given a flood warning from officials hotel us they are watching very carefully and ready to respond. >> emergency operations center is set up and ready to go. everything minus the staff. so the event we do have an incident that dictates it, we'll be able to plug those bodies in right away and be ready to go. >> in santa rosa, a big concern for flooding in the area where the tubbs fire burned. they put several measures in place over the last year and a half but this is a lot of rain and more to come. so they will be watching that area very carefully. they are telling residents to be on alert. if you see anything unusual or it looks like it's going to be a problem, and you don't see authorities there and they have noticed it, they are asking you meese ca please call it in. reporting live, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> absolutely. thank you, amy. yes, we need all eyes on the storm. live doppler 7 is one of the most popular stories on the

website and on the abc news app. if you would like to track it yourself, click on the blue live bar on the top of the apps. nearly 300 people stranded on an amtrak train. it left bound for los angeles with stops in the bay area. it's been stranded in oak ridge outside eugene since sunday after hitting a tree that fell onto the tracks. a passenger posted the pictures on facebook. you can see heavy snow outside the window. the train has power but supplies are almost out. abc 7 news talked to rebecca on the phone before 4:00 a.m. >> one more meal. we just have breakfast left but we are completely out of other food supplies. we have water but not enough to get us through another day. that's the biggest problem. >> the union pacific is responsible for clearing the tracks. crews expect to reach the train in about an hour. they will move it back to eugene and then portland. amtrak kept passengers on the

train because power is out in the nearby city. this morning the search is on for the gunman responsible for the shooting near san francisco state university. the shooting happened at a home on serrano drive near arellano and cardenas. a woman shot and expected to survive. many san francisco state students were rattled and went online to try to figure out what went on. the victim and suspect know each other. not clear if either is a student. north bay teachers say the strike reaching a fourth day. the talks yesterday trying to break the stalemate. the school offering an 8 1/2 pay hike over 4 years but the teachers are seeking a 12% boost over three years. each day the strike goes on, the district loses out on state funding. all right. never more than 7 minutes away from accuweather forecast. i'm checking out the creeksounte

moderate to major to severe flooding on colgan, laguna de santa rosa, green valley, sonoma and willow brook. as we talked about if you've been with us most of the morning, i thought this flood warning would get extended past 5:00. sure enough it was. extended to 11:00. all those creeks are going to stay out of their banks until at least 11:00. i've seen numerous reports of vehicles up in this area stuck in some of those rising waters. if you can't see the road through the water, you need to turn around. please, help yourself and help first responders by doing that. here is a look. we still have rain, steady rain in this area and it's going to continue to funnel into these creeks. one of our heaveniers bouts, dwight way right in berkeley on the campus there you can see. that, let's see where it's heading. storm track on, go right across highway 4, going to his orinda, pleasanton hill, concord and

walnut creek. expect heavy rain along 24, 680, 242 and eventually highway 4 between bay point and antioch. north bay rain all day. see it coming downside ways? it's breezy all day. san francisco rain all day today with the fastest winds from noon to 8:00. for the east bay valleys, getting a little bit of a break in places farther south away from walnut creek and orinda. everybody having rain until 10:00 for the rest of the afternoon. the east bay itself, the southern parts are a little dry right now. from about san leandro northward, wet. everybody wet from noon on. let's take a look at the peninsula. again, a lot of your neighborhoods not getting steady rain but you will at noon. finally the south bay and light rains falling right now and scattered most of the day. your steady rain csomes talk ab morning. it's not going to be an easy

commute as you can imagine. walnut creek southbound 680, north of 24 split. we have standing water reported in the far right lane before treat boulevard. right around the area of this camera we have not had any crashes reported there yet. certainly keep an eye out for that, get to middle lanes. sounds like northbound 880 near ad line street, a second one reported northbound 880 to 80 right there at the maze. we've got orange, yellow on live doppler 7. that is moderate to heavy rainfall through the area. i'm guessing that's a contributing factor. westbound 880, couple of problems, lakeshore, grand, the ramp blocked in both of those. no surprise, spinout crashes. we'll take a look at drive times coming up next. coming up, questions about women begging for money in the south bay. what neighbors expect. the president's high-stakes

12 reports of flooding, one in contra costa county near treat boulevard and 680. we've had wind damage in sausalito. a tree came down because of the wind. a 3 is living up to its billing, a strong storm with moderate to heavy rain on the way. flooding risk increases and the winds could push 50 miles per hour especially this afternoon and this evening. that's when we'll have our best chance of more trees coming down and power outages. >> thanks, mike. his way to vietnam for high-stakes meeting with north korean leader kim jong-un. >> expected to focus on peace and north korea giving up its weapons. this meeting marks the second in less than a year. the first meeting marked the first time a sitting u.s. president met with north korea's leader. the two will try to that frankly he never into to anybody about but we're speaking aloud and i think we can have a very good summit.

i think we'll have a tremendous summit. we want denuclearization. >> president trump is expected to touch down in vietnam later this morning. >> michael cohen, president trump's personal lawyer will testify before congressional committee today. he will meet behind closed doors with members of the senate intelligence committee. he will testify in a public hearing tomorrow. abc news will have live coverage of that testimony tomorrow beginning at 7:00 a.m. in the south bay there are that's after abc 7 mornings. will also stream on on the app. in the south bay there are new questions about women begging for money on the side of the road. >> people driving by capital expressway and story road in san jose say they see it every day. take a look. this is video posted to a popular east san jose community facebook page. it shows panhandlers walking through cars. they hold signs saying they are muslim or teen mom in need of help. neighbors suspect it's a scam.

>> one of them in each corner scamming basically i would call it. >> i asked her, is there anything i can help? is there anything i can do? they always come up with stories. >> abc 7 news tried digging for answer s our crew approached a woman who was asking drivers to donate to adriana, a girl needing treatment for leukemia. we tried to get background for adriana but the woman waved us away, crossed the street and disappeared. san jose police say they have not been made aware of the women and no complaints about the issue. if you have information use #abc7now and we will bring you follow-ups on the story. sorry, kids, the tooth fairy not shelling out as much as she used to. >> delta dental surveyed parents of 6 to 12. the average payout per tooth was $3.70, that's 40 cents less than 2017 when kids got an average of $4.13.

cashingcashinge cashingen -- carquinez bridge. expect another h round your way. look at that. it's going over the same area over and over and over again. that's why we're going to see an increase in the flooding. i'm really concerned with this problem of white. the wide whiter the clouds, the deeper the moisture they are holding. a beeline for north bay all the way down to san mateo bridge. so a couple hours from now, let's just go to future radar. here we are eight 7:00, north bay, yellows and oranges. after 7:00, there's that mass i'm talking about. look at that. hours upon hours of moderate to heavy rain from san mateo bridge northward. then it continues more scattered in the afternoon. the intensity comes up a little bit in the north bay. heavier rain and isolated. look at this huge wall of moderate to heavy rain, more than 100 miles from north to south. that's going to sweep across and finally bring the south bay into the fold of the moderate to heavy rain. you can see at 11:30 it is the

south bay and east bay valleys that are getting hit the hardest. rainfall, i'm resetting the counter starting at 4:00 this morning. let's see how much we're going to end up with as we head throughout the day. this is just today's rain. this doesn't include what fell yesterday. we're going to be up two-thirds of an inch in the south bay. where you see green is an inch. north bay, 2 to 4" of rain possible. that's why everything on our storm concerns is high to very high. in fact, we do have small stream flooding. flooding everywhere outside of the north bay and tri-valley. river flooding is going to happen tomorrow. the russian river and also napa river. i will show you that. 3:00 today, 2:00 tomorrow,-- 3 tomorrow, 1 friday and sunday. >> busy at the bay bridge toll plaza. when i, didn't have

official word yet metering lighcarpool lanes are open. very windy once you make it out to the span. north bay, reports of a small slide southbound 101 just on the south side of the robin williams tunnel. sounds like a few vehicles hit a rock and maybe pulled off to the side. chp is running a traffic break from alexander. if you're leaving sausalito i'm not seeing a big back-up yet but we certainly could see delays due to that. a quick check of drive times. they are looking good, keep in mind, not many people on the roads yet. you're definitely going to have to slow down. westbound 580 castro valley to the maze. northbound 101, 280 to 680 to highway 85 still dry through south pay you're coming in at 11 minutes. san jose's oldest restaurant may have closed for good. >> wing's chinese restaurant in chinatown opened in 1925. the family that ran the

impacting traffic here today. we're looking at the richmond side of richmond san rafael bridge, very soggy. high wind advisories for bridges. traffic relatively light, about 7 minutes once we get onto the span. >> number three, the storm is serious enough for marin county to activate emergency operations center for the second time this year. the first time during the storm two weeks ago that brought down an entire duplex during a mudslide in sausalito. >> in sonoma county, officials carefully monitoring russian river today. the worst of the storm is expected to hit the north bay. >> number five, stranded on amtrak, nearly 200 passengers stuck on the since sunday. crews expect to clear the track this morning. michael cohen begins two-day testimony today on capitol hill. today's testimony will be behind closed doors but tomorrow cohen will testify publicly. abc news will have live coverage

that's why your flood warning for these creeks extends to 11:00. a look at promised. napa river set to flood at moderate, just like it did two weeks ago at 25.8 feet at 5:00 tomorrow morning in the city of napa. in geurneville the same flooding last time two weeks ago. that means mirabel trailer park is going to flood once again. if we get to 40' more areas will flood. we're on the threshold of major flooding at 7:00 tomorrow evening. here is a look at live doppler 7 once again. can you see the steady stream of water. now we've got a cross-wind across our bridges gusting at times to 35 miles per hour. alexis, it's not only wet but as you and i know it's also windy out ther water, mike. both hands on the wheel. give yourself plenty of time for the commute. looking live at walnut creek

where we don't have crashes but a flooding issues, a lot of calls to chp that there's a lot of standing water in the right lanes, southbound 680 north of treat boulevard. take it easy, head to middle lanes or far left side north of 24 split. a quick check of drive times westbound 80 highway 4 to maze, 22. bay bridge meeterings lights on at 5:15. heavy on the bridge. i'm guessing folks slowing down because it is so windy. 13 minutes for your drive into the city. southbound 101, san francisco to sfo still looks good at 10 minutes. >> thanks, alexis. our storm coverage in the north bay where flooding is a big worry. >> abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live at pearson and 6th street in santa rosa. amy, what's going on there? >> reporter: i wanted to show you the creek. you can probably hear it. it is roaring. it's santa rosa creek and it gives you an idea how much rain is falling. they are keeping a close eye on

creeks and rivers in sonoma county. this one has been labeled as moderately flooding, or concerns of flooding. look at it. it's really full. a lot of rain. we're getting light rain right now. but take a look at video from yesterday. it gives you an idea how long this has been going on. we've got days ahead of us to go. several inches expected in sonoma county. the residents have been warned to expect flooding. officials say they are ready to go, ready to respond to whatever comes their way. residents yesterday that we talked to were also bracing for this and getting ready. >> definitely need to get my tires checked. if not, that can cause a huge accident. oh, my goodness. all this wind. >> not just the creeksnd rivers in a always worried mudslides and floods could happen there.

power and vision by founders. the resolution to terminate the emergency is expected to pass the house before the senate considers the measure in coming weeks. san francisco police trying to identify a man accused of stealing luggage at sfo. take a look at the surveillance photo of the suspect. police say he took a piece of luggage from the carousel on terminal 3 last week. that luggage contains a glock 9 millimeter pistol, to magazines, two rounds of ammunition, two flashlights and a holster. a solar company accused of running a ponzi scheme. they raided their home in december. they own d.c. solar company. agents seized items from headquarters in benicia. the solar energy company was p and tax scheme. the son of a woman who died in yosemite park said she passed away doing what she loved.

heavy rain.s going to head up c to albany and benicia in the next five to ten minutes or so. look at south bay not a single radar return in the heart of the south bay. you'll get yours this evening. gets go through the flood watches. 4:00 some extended thursday morning because the river, russian river is going to flood at geurneville, napa river russian, it's going to happen tomorrow evening. we've got a flash flood watching for the rest of us until 4:00 a.m. wednesday. we're watching the creeks. right now nothing is flooding in the rest of the bay area as far as creeks go. the strongest ones above h deeper to 3:00 a.m. wednesday. here is a look at the roof camera. the rain coming down steadily in san francisco. in my accuweather 12 hour day planner i put together for you, breezy all day. heaviest rain in the same areas it is right now, which is pretty

much the bay bridge northward. it will start sinking into the heart of the bay noon and into the south bay during the evening hours. alexis. >> a look at the roads here this morning, mike, we've got about 26, 27 incidents on the board. a lot of that is flooding and debris and a few crashes. we don't have too many currently. i did get one reported westbound 880 as we get into the bay bridge toll plaza. not on the traffic cameras yet. three vehicles involved, chp has not arrived at the scene. we've got metering lights at 5:19, packed in there. certainly we did have a collision in that slow traffic as we. tougsp in oakland. li trying to y bridge tortst street, a two-car crash blocking one lane. definitely seeing delays there. taking you south of benicia, south 880 near marina vista, a crash there, i believe one lane

all right. here is a look at live doppler 7, marinrinrinrinrinrinrinrinr , every time it looks like it will turn green yellow pops up over the ocean and heads for the same areas. this is moving up to the sierra where there is snow falling and it's going to be measured in feet, up to 3 feet. possibly 10' on the highest peaks from now to 6:00 thursday morning. driving up there, i think they turned people around already. so getting up there probably a no-go today. tomorrow, thursday, icy. fully will be slippery even though the snow is over. >> all right. thank blair talking for the first time about her ms diagnosis. she first revealed the diagnosis in october.
