now from abc 7 live breaking news. >> good afternoon. we are breaking into programming to bring you an update on the flooding in the north bay. the russian river is at 44 feet in guerneville right now. parts of guerneville and monte rio are underwater. sky 7 showing us some of the worst damage. the river is expected to crest at 45 1/2 feet tonight. there are evacuation orders all along the river. two shelters are open. one at sebastopol center for the arts. in a couple of hours the social media county fairgrounds will open. winfried m he rode in an army trooper carrier to get into town which

has now become an island. we will have reports on abc 7 news. for now the latest conditions. >> the good news is, if there is any goodn live doppler 7 it's mainly drying out in the atmosphere in the north bay. what rain is falling over the bay area is falling over the parts of the peninsula, santa cruz mountains and a little bit on the east bay. these are not what we consider flooding rains. so let me give you a look at flooding conditions on the russian river. there was major flooding going on now, as you obviously know. that major flooding will continue at least through noon tomorrow. now, the russian river is expected to crest around 46 feet at 8:00 p.m. tonight. now, 46 feet is about 14 feet above flood stage, which is 32 feet. you can see why this flooding is pager and widespread. major category through noon tomorrow. then even as the waters begin it recede there will be moderate

flooding tomorrow. 1:00 a.m. friday, there will be still flooding but it will be considered minor flooding. a look at the requiiver itself again. this flood warning in effect will be in effect to 9:17 a.m. saturday, and you can see just how wide an area of social media county is affected by -- sonoma county is affected by the flow of the russian river and the floodwaters from it. thousands of residents effected, obviously, and on we go to what's left of our current storm. it ranks one on the storm impact scale. it's not affecting currently the north bay. other portions, other regions of the bay area are getting scattered showers and will continue to see scattered showers into the nighttime hours. they will be mainly light to moderate. again not affecting the north bay ex cement for a sprinkle here and there. most locations less than 0.2 inch of rain left from this storm. widespread flood warning that's in effect for urban, st. paul stream and creek flooding

extending well beyond the bay area. covers much of the north bay and over not east bay and into the sacramento valley. much of the remainder of the bay area is not under this flood warning for urban and stream and small creek flooding. so on we go to our forecast animation, taking us into the weekend. we expect dry weather tomorrow and friday, but more rain will come in on saturday, and that will, of course, cause more concern about flooding because the ground is so saturated already. we pick it up at 3:30 a.m. saturday. we are expecting some fairly steady and moderate to heavy rains to come in this wave of rain early saturday morning. it will continue through the day saturday as mainly light to moderate rain with a few periods, brief periods of heavy downpours. that pattern will continue into saturday afternoon and saturday night. maybe a few showers will linger sunday morning, but that should be the end of that event. once again, though, we have in the good news category 2 dries
