i think it's going to finally expire instead of being extended like yesterday. we'll look at the accuweather 12-hour planner next with alexis. >> good morning, mike. back to one major issue on the board right now. this is a fatality investigation. solo vehicle crash. it's a sig-alert in oakland. eastbound 580 near 98. it's around the oakland zoo. we have the two right lanes blocked. haven't gotten a lot of new information over the last hour and a half or so. we have a rollover crash northbound 17 off ramp to southbound 280. one vehicle involved as well. flipped off the roadway. landed on its wheels. i'm not seeing a backup approaching the scene. drive times coming up next. sonoma county, the russian river is going to recede later on today. the amount of damage the flooding has done is. he a mle affected. at least 2,000 homes and buildings are flooded now. thousands of people are unable to get to their towns. abc 7 news reporter amy

hollyfield live in forestville this morning. amy? >> reporter: jessica, this is as far as we can get. you don't have to go to guerneville to find flooding and damage. this is the farmhouse inn in forestville. they don't have any guests. they had to evacuate all the guests when the driveway was flooding. one guest didn't make it out. rental car still stuck in the water. this is one business and this is eight miles outside of guerneville. the worst of it happened in guerneville which is further down the road. the view from sky 7 shows you the flooding. it has taken over the town. you cannot get in or out. so using -- officials are saying people who did stay it's too late now. they cannot leave. >> stay put. don't try to leave at this point. the roads are pretty much closed. the river is still rising as we speak. >> residents who evacuated are

still not being let in. those who chose to stay, they can't get out. it's a tough situation all around. the water is expected to settle back into the banks of the russian river by late tonight. that's when people can start checking on homes and businesses. an estimated 2,000 structures flooded. reporting live in forestville, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. you were nearly in the same spot yesterday morning. i'm sure you can see a noticeable difference. even the back car behind you. >> reporter: the water has receded a bit. river road has water on it. we're noticing a bit of a difference. it's happening pretty slowly. this driveway doesn't look any better than it did yesterday. >> amy, thank you. from down from guerneville, monte rio is also an island this morning. all roads leading in and out are under floodwaters. >> usually put stuff up above on

the higher floor. hopefully we'll make it through this one. >> the national guard was in monte rio rescuing people like this pair from guerneville. >> we were sleeping in our house and the water came up in. it almost engulfed us. but we made it out. they pulled us out the window. the fire guys. >> we saw a tweet from the sheriff saying last night was relatively quiet as far as rescues goes. other residents have beentoelor. that is jeremy. he used his canoe all day yesterday. he transported people and helped friends get equipment. we thank him for that. another way to visualize how far the flooding extended from the russian river is to look from above. sky 7 flew above yesterday. we have sky map 7 technology showing us where the streets are. i guess we don't have that for you right now.

change. we have the two right lanes blocked due to a crash and a fire, that vehicle caught fire after it went off the roadway and fatality investigation is under way. the backup continues to grow. it's now to the highway 13 split in oakland. you're down to 14 miles an hour approaching that. if you can take 880. that's looking good at this time. unfortunately, they've not given us an estimate on when the lanes will reopen. a quick check of the toll plaza. metering light on for an hour. we've got our backups there. i'll be back with the toyota tahoe report. let's check in with meteorologist mike nicco. >> we'll open the weather window on walnut creek. we had a little drizzle, showers overnight. you might find wet patches there. other places also. a mixture of clouds and sun and cooler temperatures today. the next chance of rain is tomorrow night through sunday. a potential atmospheric river.

an online app earn kujing kids to kill themselves. it appeared several years ago. a frightening image of a woman appeared on online messaging apps and then she encourages kids to take on challenges. they start small. but they could eventually lead to self-harm and suicide. there are reports that tmomo che came up again on facebook and whatsapp. >> i don't like my kids on social media anyway. there's so much cyber bullying going on that it's like getting -- it really out of hand. >> it's also frightening. youtube is responding after reports that some videos contain the momo challenge. youtube says it has not found videos promoting the challenge. videos encouraging harmful and dangerous behavior is against company policy. southwest airlines will start flights to hawaii. the faa gave approval. southwest will begin with flights from san jose, san diego

look at how far it's fallen. 14.4. now no flooding. in fact, it was dropping nearly a foot an hour earlier this morning. we still have urban flooding and creek flooding. major on mark west creek. la do you know a de santa rosa o and santa rosa creek and clear lake, minor flooding there. it's pretty cloudy out there. a random shower through 7:00. 42 to 49. a mixture of clouds and sunshine and low to mid-50s from noon to 4:00. back to 50 at 7:00. how about the commute?. we have had a couple of major issues this morning. the only one currently working is this problem in oakland. deadly crash. investigation does continue as well as the sig-alert. eastbound 580 near 98th avenue. the two right lanes will blocked. the backup made it to highway 13

split there. it looks like it's receded a little bit. by 22 miles per hour. 11 miles an hour approaching. that commute is usually wide open. that is counter commute direction. you can use 880 for an alternate. that is still looking good until you get to state route 238 or surface streets will get you around that as well. westbound 80, highway 4 to the maze, 34 minutes for you. 12 across the bay bridge and no delays southbound 101, san francisco to sfo. >> alexis, thank you. breaking news this morning. three women are dead after a crash on westbound i-80. this happened at 1:15 this morning near the west grand exit in emeryville. a ford escape veered off the road and hit the back of a big rig. four people were in that ford escape. three of them died. the driver was taken to the hospital and he is in critical condition. police are investigating the cause of the crash. they do not think t now, floin disterty t russian river is expected

monte rio. it's blocked. you have no place to go. >> reporter: and it looks like we're going to be there for a while. at least all of today. the russian river crested last night at a highest level in 25 years. it's now starting to recede. it's a slow process. not expected to return to its banks until late tonight. so residents do face another day of getting around in boats or being stuck, shut out altogether. they have time before they can start assessing the damage and start the recovery process. reporting live in forestville, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. amy, thank you. many schools in sonoma county are closed again today because of flooding and storm-related issues. >> as of last night, 13 school districts and charter schools canceled classes. the sonoma county office of education says additional closures will be announced this morning. so far, we haven't heard of any.

we'll let you know if we do. the latest closures on the ticker at the bottom of the screen and on abc7news.com. of course, you can keep an eye on the forecast while on the go by downloading the abc 7 news app. you can access features like live doppler 7. federal investigators released a preliminary report about the gas line explosion in san francisco. it confirms some of what we already knew. a third-party contractor working on a telecommunications project damaged a pg&e gas line. the photo there, there's a big hole in the middle of that line. the report explais how pg&e turned off the gas. but it doesn't make a judgment on if it was done fast enough. investigators say that all happened in the next steps ofwe oakland teachers strike. >> today teachers and students from across the bay area will hold events in solidarity with the striking teachers. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live in san lorenzo.

matt? >> reporter: good morning, jessica. on this sixth day of the teachers strike, it looks like oakland teachers will be getting help from other teachers and students. the plan it for a sick-out at area school districts. teachers and students from berkeley, san francisco, albany and san lorenzo are planning to be absent and join the picket lines at 11:00 this morning at frank ogawa plaza. this is in response to a call from the rank and file members of the oakland education association. this comes after a marathon bargaining session on tuesday. >> we're still hoping to come to an agreement. this has gone on certainly longer than most people had hoped it would. a lot of families and students want to get back to class. >> i can say that we're still really excited for the cause. but some of us are feel a little weary. but we're ready to go as long as it takes. >> reporter: the district's offer remains at 8.5% raise over

four years. the teachers want 12% over three years. matt keller, abc 7 news. matt, thank you. let's turn now to weather. okay, guys. let's look at temperatures. in the mid-40s to 50 across the south bay. 43 in los gatos. 50 in mountain view. how about other areas. 50 in san francisco and alameda. a lot of mid to upper 40s in the north bay where the clouds are thinner. 39 sebastopol. napa at 43 degrees. all these temperatures, some of them significantly cooler than we were 4 hours ago. -- 24 hours ago. it's much drier as we look west across the san mateo. there's damp spots out there. if you're going to be out and about, it will be sunny at times. i think the clouds win out for the most part. lingering puddles if you like to run outside or bike. on the bay, it's going to be calmer. imt 49 this morning. 55 at noon. in the upper 50s during the
