just beginning to take shape. >> reporter: community activists are leading this rally along el camino in support. after release of new video of the october confrontation. we want you to take a look at this. the new footage shows deputies telling acobi to get on the ground and roll over on his stomach. he punched deputies and deputy deployed a taser. he later died at the hospital. the da says with further review, their investigation found deputies involved acted in a lawful manner. acobi's family disputes those claims and today we're hearing from both sides. >> in my mind, i found what the deputies did here not just complied with california law, it was reasonable conduct under the circumstances. >> first off, that is not a surprise decision for us. we have been involved in countless numbers of police shooting cases. and not once has the district

attorney of any county filed any charges other than the oscar grand kids which happened ten years ago. >> reporter: the family's attorney has said previously he will likely file a lawsuit in the case. the full 31 minute video released by the san mateo county sheriff's office is on our web site. you are going to have to visit abc 7news.com and click on the story. the rally along el camino and the site where that happened is continuing. video taken today in san francisco appears to show larry bare in an argument with his wife and while he wrestles the phone out of her land, the force knocks her to the ground. the video doesn't show the entire exchange. but clearly bare can be seen reaching across his wife pam, as she was sitting in a public park and grabbing a cell phone. she falls to the ground as he seems to wrestle the phone away from her.

abc 7 news spoke with two witnesses who saw this happen. they said they saw the couple fighting earlier. they added three men had to spare bair from his wife. in a joint statement, they said regrettably we had a heated argument. we are deeply embarrassed by the situation and have resolved the issue. major league baseball released a statement, aware of the incident and just like any other situation like this, we'll immediately begin to gather the facts, we will have no further comment until this process is completed. san francisco police say they are aware of the incident and they are investigating. after seven days of picketing and protests a tentative agreement between oakland teachers and the school district which will likely bring that strike to an end. abc 7 news reporter, leslie brinkley live in oakland. >> reporter: well, it looks like at 2:00 today, a taken thentati agreement that was reached could put an end to the oakland

teachers strike at 5:00 here at this church behind me. gave a statement and across town, ousd at the same time gave a statement on what the compromise means. >> we think this compromise both honors our educators and ensures that the district is fiscally responsible. >> it is because of you that we took a stand and said that it's time for oakland, the city of oakland to prioritize our students. >> reporter: now, teachers asked for a 12% raise. they ended up with an 11% salary increase, ongoing with a 3% one-time bonus. they also got concessions on class size, a reduced case load for counselors, lots of other then things on the list. they are core values. some of the teachers i talked to said those were met. it was really a momentous day.

>> we have a tentative agreement. >> it was total chaos outside this school near lake merritt as news filtered out that a tentative agreement had been reached in the seven day teachers strike. >> you have 24 hours to go through it, to see what gauge we have for our students. we will have a membership meeting tomorrow so vote yes on our tentative agreement. >> reporter: there was no celebrating, not all of the teachers were optimistic. >> an agreement is a good thing. the members have a right to shoot it down f. they don't like it, that's their right, and that's their vote. >> reporter: today striking teachers and picketers surrounded the skoog, padlockipadlock gates and trying to block a board meeting to take place, a

meeting in which the board was expected to vote for $22 million in cuts in the next school year. here you see board member james harris unable to enter the meeting, separately at an undisclosed location, negotiations for a contract continued into the afternoon when word of the tentative agreement broke around 2:00. as you heard a vote has to take place tomorrow and the union is endorsing a yes vote. that means school could be back in play for teachers and students on monday. in oakland, i'm ka abc 7 news. we promised we would send out a push alert as soon as an agreement was reached. you can customize the app so you only get push alerts for topics you are interested in. in the last hour, 98% of san ramon valley unified teachers voted in favor of a strike. they have been voting all week after mediation ended. the sticking points are reduced class sizes and teacher pay.

only on abc 7 news a major new development in a hillsboro murder case where a woman is among the suspects charged with killing the father of her children. attorneys for suspect tiffany lee will ask her to be tried separately from her codefendant. both standing trial in august for the killing of keith green, the father of lee's two children. lee's attorneys say an august trial will interfere with her treatments for breast cancer. they want to go to trial in the spring. byad's attorneys say they won't be ready for august. a hearing is scheduled for next wednesday. tonight we're hearing from the family at the center of a tragic collision. early yesterday morning, three siblings were killed when their car collided with big rig that was illegally parked on the shoulder of westbound 80 near the bay bridge toll plaza, a fourth sibling is fighting for his life. his mother and brother spoke only to melanie woodrow who was

truly tragic story, melanie. >> this is an exceptionally painful story especially because the children were on the way to the hospital to visit their dying father when they were killed. three of nine siblings have passed and a fourth is fighting for his life. >> the villa rial family never imagined they would be mourning three of nine siblings, sarah the kindhearted one, eli the funny one. >> their future cut short as they drove in the middle of the night to see their father who was hospitalized with stage four colon cancer. >> we were getting ready to mourn my husband, to grieve my husband. they were there the very last day. they hugged me and they kissed me. they were trying not to say good-bye to my husband, but i didn't know we were saying good-bye to each other.

>> reporter: the california highway patrol says slick roads and speed may have caused their car to swerve. it collided with the back of a big rig parked illegally on the shoulder of i-80 westbound. brother dan drove to the scene when his siblings phone was pinging. a chp officer was already there. >> she said three of the passengers didn't make it, and one of them is critically injured and is fighting for his life in the hospital. >> reporter: the chp said the driver had pulled over to sleep. officers cited the driver who was not injured. >> that truck was in the wrong place. it was in the wrong place. >> reporter: road transportation llc out of oregon owns the big rig. the company says they have no comment and asked abc 7 news to contact their attorney in san francisco. he has not responded to us. >> maybe it would have been a different story. maybe i would have had my siblings or at least some of them still. i don't know. only god knows. >> reporter: meantime, sibling aaron is fighting for his life at highland hospital. he was the only one in the car

that survived the crash. he's been in and out of surgery. his father remains hospitalized in san francisco. >> the family has set up a go fund me account to help with expenses. we have put a link on our web site. abc7newsroom.com. woodrow, abc 7 news. lanie police have arrested the man suspected of throwing punches on the cal campus against a conservative activist. here's a look at the mug shot of zachary greenberg. charges have not been filed. university officials found neither greenberg or the alleged victim were uc students. williams had been invited to recruit members for the turning point usa two weeks ago when he says greenberg attacked him unprovoked. lyft is rolling along faster than uber. today the san francisco based company filed its ipo which would make it the first ride sharing company to join the stock market and that could turn into a good thing for riders as well as drivers.

abc 7 news anchor dion lynn has the story. >> in the long anticipated war of which ride share company will go first, lyft appears to be winning, filing paperwork friday, setting themselves up for an ipo, indicating losses of $900 billion last year, compared to uber, $2 billion. >> reporter: as part of preparing to go public, lyft has offered customers a myriad of discounts, to dedicated employees, the company announced driver bonuses ranging between 1 and $10,000. >> i'm elated to hear that, and i can only hope perhaps i mean kw qualify for one of those bonuses. >> reporter: believes the ipo will strengthen lyft's foothold in the ride share ma rkt and be -- market and be a benefit to drivers. >> we're going to see a bit more of that to allow the drivers to be retained more exclusively by

the service so they're with the company, i think it will allow for a higher degree of retention and probably a higher overall amount of quality. >> reporter: gary johnson has been driving for lyft exclusively for just over a year. and while he enjoys being an independent contractor, sees the ipo as job stability. >> you're always looking at how this may benefit you and your future, and of course how that's going to affect your family's future. >> reporter: this could be the beginning of a new future for transportation as we know it. >> we don't have to own or maintain our own cars anymore. when we need pgs transportation will simply be there. >> reporter: for the drivers that receive the 1 to $10,000 bonus, they have the opening of accepting in cash or company stock. gary, what do you plan on doing? >> i plan to purchase the company's stock. >> reporter: which undoubtedly will be worth a pretty penny one

day. in san francisco, speaking of stocks, they started a month of march in the green today. investors optimistic on reports that the u.s. and china could hammer out a trade deal. the dow is up triple digits, the nasdaq gained 62. tesla dropped 25 points, 8% of its value. yesterday, the palo alto based company announced it would close most of its doors. that is a major change aimed at lowering overhead costs. buyers will be able to purchase a model three for $35,000. that is lowest price any tesla has ever been available. it's pretty quiet on live doppler 7. we are in between storms. take a live look at the sea lions at san francisco's pier 39. they're content on this friday night. abc 7 news weather anchor spencer christian is here.

now to updates on the flooding in the north bay. all evacuation orders have been liflted along the -- lifted along the russian river. pg&e says it will have power back on to everyone who lost service during the storms. two sonoma county school districts hope to open on monday. now, the guerneville school district will not be able to reopen. it's still cleaning up. abc 7 news anchor eric thomas gives us a look at what it will take to see just how bad this flooding was. >> reporter: a simple message from sonoma county sheriff mark esek now that people are coming home. watch out for potential hazards like nails and debris. this is no time for tourism. >> please do not come to the flooded out areas unless you absolutely have to. be please be respectful that many of our friends, family and

business owners are going through a very difficult time in the clean up. >> reporter: 25 deputies are ptrolling the guerneville area to keep people safe. the first of 30 teams of damage assessment officers are moving in to check out the status of 2,600 homes. >> they're there to determine if the facility, like a house or a business is safe to be reentered. this is where you'll see the famous green, yellow and red tags. >> he says inspectors will spend the weekend doing that. and it wasn't just guerneville. the barrel shopping mall was flooded. business owners were able to get in and clean skpup and figure h soon they can reopen. >> there's a water line 4 foot high. >> reporter: another storm system is bearing down on the region. they're hoping it won't be a repeat. >> we do not expect to see the river rise as a result of that. we do not expect it to come out of its banks. >> reporter: fingers crossed on

that. if additional rain doesn't cause more flooding on the russian river, it will make recovery efforts more complicated and more difficult. eric thomas, abc 7 news. in the wake of devastating flooding that took place all around the state, governor gavin newsom says his budget plan will include additional infrastructure updates and emergency alert systems. the floods that prompted him to declare a state of emergency in five counties were alarming and he's planning a meeting with state and federal emergency response experts. the goal is to come up with a plan to more efficiently deal with floods, wildfires and earthquakes. >> you may call it global warming. you may call it climate change, something ain't right. the wets are getting much wetter, the dries are getting much dryer, the acuity is being felt here disproportionately. we have to address that in a much more resilient way. >> newsom says he hopes to hold a statewide conference offering solutions later this year.

let's find out just how wet it's going to be this weekend. >> more rain is on the way, spencer christian. >> it is. coming on the heels of the flooding we had this week, just how wet will the week ahead be? let's take a look at our chances of rain over the next seven days. we've got, you know what, we just skipped past that, so i'm just going to walk this way, is that okay, and walk into the next frame. okay. here we go. a live view from our east bay hills camera looking out over the bay, 55 degrees in san francisco, and oakland and san jose. 56 morning hill, and 53 in half-moon bay. this is the view from our tower camera looking north. you can see how thick and heavy the clouds are getting looking northward right now. 52 up north in santa rosa and 54 in napa and fairfield, concord 56 and 53 at livermore, and this is the view from emeryville under cloudy conditions, not

raining yet, but it's getting close. these are our forecast features. rain will arrive late tonight. we'll have early morning downpours, then showers into the afternoon and sunday. the stronger storm expected next week. we have quite a spell of wet weather coming our way. the approaching storm ranks two on the storm impact scale. a scale of moderate intensity, we expect light to moderate rainfall, a quarter inch to an inch in most areas and it will be breezy at times, and now we're looking at forecast animation starting at 7:00 this evening. about 11:00 tonight, we'll see the first wave of steady rain pushing on shore. heavy downpours quite wet after midnight, and after midnight. 6:00 tomorrow morning we expect to get the heaviest downpours indicated right here in the central part of the bay area by areas of red and orange, and that will push on through, and as you can see, we get trailing showers through the remainder of the day tomorrow, and through the day on sunday, so it's going to be a wet weekend. we're not going to have that

continuous rainfall like we had earlier this week. rainfall potential from the approaching storm, by 11:00 tomorrow night, we expect most areas to be near the 1 inch mark, if not above, but some locations will receive a little bit less than that. lows tonight, mainly in the upper 40s and highs tomorrow will be generally in the upper 50s to near 60 and we have a winter storm warning now over in the sierra from 10:00 tonight to 4:00 a.m. sunday, we expect another foot to foot and a half of snow generally across the central sierra. here's the accuweather seven-day forecast after tomorrow's level 2 storm. we'll see the stronger storm tapering off into scattered showers on sunday. then a dry day is expected on a monday, and clouds will linger and rain comes in on tuesday, a light storm ranking 1, intense fiing to a level -- intensifying to a level 2 on wednesday. lingering showers on thursday and a slight chance next friday. it continues to come our way, and looks like next week's midweek rain will be part of an atmospheric river developing. >> thanks, spencer.
