matt? >> reporter: good morning, reggie and jessica. san jose police started extra patrols in the thousand oaks neighborhood. so far, they've not announced an arrest. >> it's scary. it's pretty safe neighborhood otherwise. there's hardly any crime around. it's disturbing. >> reporter: sources tell abc 7 san jose police have a person of interest in mind for the murder of bambi larson. the other of two adult children found dead inside her home on thursday. that afternoon, larson hadn't come to work. a worried co-worker called the victim's son. they came to the house, unlocked the door and found her body in the bedroom. close friend of the victim who did not want to be on camera spoke to us about larson. >> it's so surreal. i can't imagine anyone wanting to harm this lady. she's a beautiful person. she goes out of her way to help people in the neighborhood.

it's just unbelievable. i'm devastated. >> reporter: no suspect has been identified by police. this is the seventh homicide of the year here in san jose. reporting live in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. matt, thank you. we want to get to breaking news just coming in from kenya where four americans and a local pilot died in a helicopter crash. happened overnight on an island in lake tur kana located in the northern part of the country. the ubs 'em bass a named three of the four americans killed. they are anders asher, josiah burke, brandon how staper and kyle john ford i. hometo released. the latest group to sue to block the release of previously confidential personnel records of members.

senate bill took affect january 1st and makes things available to the public. they pertain to police misconduct, including excessive force by officers and criminal con dung. the p.o.a. is seeking a court order barring the city from releasing that information. they become the latest police officers union in the state to sue to keep the records confidence ziefrng in the east bay, details on priests accused of sex abuse. reverend alexander castillo was placed on administrative leave the end of january. he served in fremont and oklahomaly. castillo may have fled the country. the pease is a nay testify of costa rica. he was last heard from on february 20th. oakland police notified the diocese that castillo may be located outside the u.s. but wouldn't specify pact exactly where. a celebration of life. a long-time san francisco public defender, jeff adachi. a public memorial starts at 11:00 this morning. he died february 22nd after a medical emergency.

his cause of death remains under investigation. he was 59 years old. famynd colleagues remembered him at a vigil last week. west point military academy is remembering 21-year-old cadet peter zoo of concord. he died on thursday after getting hurt while skiing last month. this is memorial video posted to youtube. it shows his fellow cadets trekking through snow with his photo on their backpacks. they went to the ski area on academy grounds where he died. he was an inspiring leader they say. the incident surrounding his death is under investigation. an advocacy group for homeless stooew lengths will ho a rally at noon. more than 13% of the spartan student body is homeless. they've been impacted by soaring silicon valley rent. the student homeless alliance is demanding that safe parking spots are given in university garages so students can stay

you're looking at a massive natural gas pipeline fire in a rural community in missouri. flames shooting high into the air. this fire roared on for hours. this happened sunday morning northeast of klum yachlt the fire burned out in about 40 minutes. rob, how scary does that look. somehow, there are no injuries and no damage to structures. investigators are on the scene looking into a cause. in southern california, the fbi has arrested a long beach man in connection with an explosion that killed his ex-girlfriend in her day spa. 59-year-old steven beal was arrested on suspicion of poe possessing explosives. investigators found more than 100 pounds of explosive material inside his home. prosecutors later dropped those charges. no details on beal's current

contract doesn't address school closures. they will be back in class today. they voted on it yesterday at the paramount theater. it was 58% in favor of the new contract. it will give them an 11% raise ovr four years and a one-time 3% bonus. it also calls for smaller class sizes. the union president says he knows the membership wanted a promise that schools would not be shut down. this issue will have to be dealt with at another time. >> we do realize that the fight does not end with this contract. it is only a beginning. we are committed as educators in oakland to ensure that our students get vital90% of oaklan skipped school during this week-long strike. some of them were on the picket line supporting their teachers. a special school board meeting has been set for this morning.

the home yesterday th're working to identify the people and determine how they died. stephon clark's family is asking for the state attorney general's help. this comes after the prosecutors announced no charges for the police officers who shot and killed him. when police opened fire last march, they say the actions were justified. the 22-year-old was suspected of vandalism. they fired 20 shots at him after mistaking his cell phone for a gun. his family says he was shot several times in the back. >> my stance is this was murder. these officers need to be charged and d.a. should be fired. >> our lives are suffering, our hearts are shattered. my family is traumatized: we are in agony ever since the callous murder of my brother. >> clark's family filed a wrongful death suit against the city for at least $20 million.
